[Touch-packages] [Bug 1652585] [NEW] Fonts are borken after suspend/resume somtimes
Public bug reported: Occasionally, when coming out of a suspend and getting past the light locker screen, font rendering broken. Application windows are missing most but not all letters, and text for icons on the desktop is blurry. Already open terminal windows won't have any text, but sometimes opening a new terminal window does have working text for the terminal, even though the text in the menu bar is broken. Programs like Thunderbird often still display text unless they are forced to re-render the window, at which point the fonts also disappear. Firefox still renders web pages but is missing the text in the menu bars. This seems similar to bug #1434351 to me, but I was asked by Christopher Penalver to open a new bug, so here we go. I'm currently running with an xorg.conf suggested as a workaround for #1434351, the bug itself manifested with the default Xorg settings (no xorg.conf file). But as the bug only occurs occasionally, it's too early to say if the workaround actually works. Same problem in a fresh install from yesterday (12/25/2016), and I fully updated the system by cable. This should be a high priority bug, and I doubt it would take more than 5 minutes of an experienced programmer to fix it, probably just a broken validation routine. Sorry for the late response. This is not a conflict. The library package is usually installed automatically as a dependency of some other package, not manually. So when all reverse dependencies are update to use the new library package name, the package manager will remove the old library and install the new one. The library was renamed to v5 in Ubuntu, but not in Debian. In Zesty the package was re-synchronized with Debian, so the library got renamed back to its old name. Public bug reported: Today, I noticed the dialer app will not start. Visually, a title bar appears labelled "Phone", with the rest of the screen white (no loading spinny). This persists for less than a second before the app exits. I don't know when this started, as I don't often make calls. According to the updates settings page, I updated to OTA-14 today, however I am suspicous of this information, as I was unaware of any system update today, and I thought I had upgraded to OTA-14 a couple of weeks ago. I am able to recieve calls, however after accepting the call the dialer app appears and disappears as described above, and I am left with the green bar at the top indicating I'm on a call and nothing else. I can hear the other person and they can hear me as normal. Obviously I can't make any calls. I see this bug in Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS with autofs version 5.1.1-1ubuntu3
when I try to access cifs shares from my NAS.
When I try to access the shares with 'cd' or 'ls' after boot with
network on both sides up and running I got the error message: "File or
Directory not found." After running `sudo systemctl restart
autofs.service` it works like a charme.

It appears that when cups was updated it did not carry the old parameters across to the new con-fig files. Good afternoon.
I have started seeing something very similar to Debian Dug 734688 "Logs are
not rotated for a month" but in the latest Ubuntu LTS (16.04). I seem to have
$ logrotate --version
logrotate 3.8.7
bundled in it. A few weeks ago I started getting root emails such as this:

When I inspected the area of concern I was able to see that there was an
existing .1 file.

The contents of the munin-node.log file seem to run from the 19th September
until today. Unlike other parts of this bug the .1 and .2 files do not seem to
be already compressed.
I deleted all but the munin-node.log file to see if it would resolve the
problem and was going to leave it at that. Then I noticed that I have had
another Ubuntu machine which has been sending similar emails for the past week:

Different file, different machine but a very similar error message.
Checking on the syslog file I can see that it better fits with other reports
on this bug as my duplicated .1 files has a corresponding .1.gz file.

There has been some speculation that a full or nearly full /var
partition would cause this issue. I can confirm that /var is part of
/ on my systems and that presently both of them have several gigabytes
of space. I run Munin an Icinga to monitor system state. Neither of
these show / being completely full in the past month. They have both
had /boot fill significantly. Trac had a highest use value of / being
99.28% full in the past year but warden has only had a peak of 33% in
the past year.

You've got a lot of segmentation violation errors in your logs from wildly unrelated programs. I suggest rebooting into memtest86+ and let that run overnight or longer. It feels like a hardware issue to me. "nmcli d" shows the device type is ethernet: DEVICE TYPE STATECONNECTION wlp1s0 ethernet unavailable -- lo loopback unmanaged-- The bug starts from a race condition. But it is not the root cause. I've also attach 2 logs. One is in good situation. Another is in bad situation. This log is generated by applying a "log patch" to network-manager 1.4.2 so we can see more stuff. In the bad situation. The bug starts with race condition. But the race condition is not the root cause. The race condition is: * During the renaming from "wlan0" to "wlp1s0". "wlan0" disappeared. * Inside the NM, it is still using "wlan0" in "_linktype_get_type()". * Since /sys/class/net/wlan0/uevent is disappeared. so the type matching failed in _linktype_get_type(). * Also wifi_utils_is_wifi() failed to because /sys/class/net/wlan0 disappeared. * And finally, devtype and kind are both NULL, so it returns NM_LINK_TYPE_ETHERNET for wlan0. Later, wlan0 is renamed to wlp1s0, and it seems to me that the Object inherit the type so it is still type ethernet. But from the log, I saw _linktype_get_type() is called several times later and return the correct type (wifi). But just, "nmcli d" still shows type ethernet. I'm wondering if we are missing to update the type in the Object created after renaming and re-detecting the type. I use Ubuntu 12.04. Still have the problem. I have disabled Flash and depend on HTML5. Can't watch video on mainstream news site. Youtube does work, however. Please include fix on next update packet. But when I add a online google calendar in Evolution, events (which has start time and end time) are appearing as UTC time. However in evolution, its all nice and evolution does respect my timezone. How to reproduce: 1. Set google calendar timezone to match your timezone from google calendar settings (web). 2. From web interface, add a event with time into that calendar. Then copy its private ical address. 3. Open evolution. Add that calendar from new->calendar->on the web. 4. reboot. What should happen? If a event starts from 5 PM, indicator-datetime should reflect that. What is happening? indicator-datetime shows every event starting at UTC time; i.e, in my case 5.30 hours leading!
