[Touch-packages] [Bug 1682637] Re: during recovery mode, enable network failed due to /etc/resolv.conf not being present

2017-12-31 Thread Domizio Demichelis
None of the above worked here! Without the /etc/resolv.conf nothing
works obviously, then the dpkg-reconfigure resolvconf does nothing (i.e.
there is still no file after running it. Adding it manually solved a
part of the problem, but the Unknown group "power" still blocks starting
of the network. How to fix that one?

  and selected "Enable Networking":

  the result was:

grep: /etc/resolv.conf: No such File or directory.

Unknown group "power" in message bus configuration file.

(Networking did not enable, leaving me stranded at root shell without
network which would have made adding/removing packages to troubleshoot

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1728238] Re: update-initramfs not adding i915 GuC firmware, firmware fails to load

2017-12-31 Thread spike speigel
Thanks Paul, that workaround helped me. The 9.14 GuC loads now. I
tried downloading the new 9.39 GuC on intel's site, and changing the
version in the hook script, but the 9.39 firmware would not load for
some reason. Maybe due to both firmware versions existing in
/lib/firmware/i915/ on my system and the older one being seen/used
first. I might try again later and moving the older firmware, but am
content with it loading as it is now.

The i915 Kabylake GuC firmware is failing to load on boot, and
generating dmesg errors. The Kabylake HuC firmware succeeds. All
files exist. I've also verified the Kabylake GuC firmware matches the
correct file size and md5 listed on 01.org.

I then ran update-initramfs verbosely, and see that only
  /lib/firmware/i915/skl_guc_ver6_1.bin is being added.
  /lib/firmware/i915/bxt_guc_ver8_7.bin and
  /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_guc_ver9_14.bin seem to be ignored.

  I'm running a Dell XPS 13 9360 w/ Kabylake on Ubuntu 17.10 and
initramfs-tools 0.125ubuntu12. Perhaps Broxton systems might have the
  same issue?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1740709] [NEW] GtkSpinButton's '+' changes width if insensitive

2017-12-31 Thread Egmont Koblinger
Public bug reported:

GtkSpinButton consists of a (typically numeric) input field, followed by
a '-' and finally a '+' sign. The width of the '+' sign depends on
whether it's sensitive or not. It shouldn't, it should have a constant
width.

Happens with Ubuntu's default Ambiance and Radiance themes. Does not
happen with GTK+'s default Adwaita.

Example 1: Open dconf-editor and navigate to /ca/desrt/dconf-
editor/demo/integer-16-unsigned. Uncheck "Use default value" and use the
+/- buttons to alter the value. As it reaches 65535, that is, the '+'
button becomes insensitive, its width increases. Click '-' to make the
'+' sign sensitive again, its width shrinks back.

Example 2: Open gnome-terminal, Edit -> Profile Preferences, Scrolling
tab, toggle the checkbox in front of "Limit scrollback to" back and
forth. Notice how the '+' sign keeps changing width, and the "lines"
label keeps jumping back and forth accordingly.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1740665] [NEW] systemd-timesyncd doesn't sync time after resume from hibernate

2017-12-31 Thread pavel
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1740666 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740666

Public bug reported:

When resuming, the clock remains at the time when the hibernate
happened, even if timedatectl claims that it is being synced:

$ timedatectl status
  Local time: Вс 2017-12-31 13:46:16 +05
Universal time: Вс 2017-12-31 08:46:16 UTC
RTC time: Вс 2017-12-31 08:46:16
   Time zone: Asia/Yekaterinburg (+05, +0500)
 Network time on: yes
NTP synchronized: yes
 RTC in local TZ: no

I've tried waiting a bit, but this persisted for some minutes, so I
forced an update with

systemctl restart systemd-timesyncd.service

And afterwards the time was (apparently) correctly synced.

Please, let me know what further informations are needed to debug the
issue, and I would be happy to do some other test.
