  Original bug description is below:

GTK+3 doesn't show FUSE network shares in file chooser - it used to do
so in GTK+2, and the GTK+3 documentation still mentions it should do
  it.

In the mean time, every user of every application switching to GTK+3
-- including Chromium, at some point between 58 and 60 -- (a change
which happened in 16.04 LTS!!), loses the functionality to open or
save directly to a network share.

I had chosen 16.04 LTS for deploying our workstations at work, and my 50
users have been suddenly unable to do a simple operation they have to do dozens
of times a day.
They now have to "buffer" these files to their local filesystem when saving
them and before uploading them, and then copy them to the company's network
shares.

The bug is twofold, first when computer boots if the headset
(headphones with built-in mic, one audio jack) is plugged in, then
there is no sound (via headphones or otherwise). If you plug
headphones out and back in, then it usually works as expected.

The second scenario is the same, except that plugging out and back in

Thanks! I won't claim to understand what that change did, but adding
the two lines as requested does seem to resolve the issue. I opened up
Netflix and was able to watch, without the crash, and there wasn't any

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1777384] Re: video lags

2018-06-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
If video is lagging in the browser too then this is either a general
graphics performance issue or you have multiple issues.

That said, you do seem to be using your Intel GPU more than the Nvidia
one according to the above logs, so please try this for smoother video
playback:

 1. sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-addons vainfo mpv
 2. Try playing video in 'totem' or 'mpv'

If that doesn't solve then problem then please run 'vainfo' and send us
the output.

This bug is very similar to #87081, with the difference that the
proposed commit doesn't work for me, and PA never sees the message
"dbus: interface=org.bluez.MediaEndpoint1,
path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource, member=SelectConfiguration"

I'm running Fedora 22, with bluez-5.29, and pulseaudio from current git
(tag v7.0) compiled from source. I'm using a Sony DR-BT21G headset.

The device is initially paired/trusted in bluetoothctl. I'm running
bluetoothd with debug output enabled in a first terminal :
/usr/libexec/bluetooth/bluetoothd -n -d. I'm running bluetoothctl in
another term, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/tmp/install/lib LD_BIND_NOW=1
/tmp/install/bin/pulseaudio -vv in a 3rd term.

I compiled pulseaudio with the following configuration options, that
pretty much matche those from the regular Fedora rpm package :
./configure --disable-silent-rules --disable-static --disable-rpath
--with-system-user=pulse --with-system-group=pulse --with-access-group
=pulse-access --disable-oss-output --disable-jack --disable-lirc
--disable-bluez4 --enable-bluez5 --disable-systemd-daemon --prefix
/tmp/install

* When powering on the headset on, bluetoothd logs:

Title:
Audio doesn't auto switch away from HDMI after unplugging HDMI

Status in PulseAudio:
  Confirmed
Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:

  Steps to reproduce

  * Attach an external HDMI/DP monitor to watch videos on an external display
(TV)
  * In sound settings, send audio to HDMI out, rather than internal laptop audio
  * Play a video, to show audio is going over HDMI
  * Unplug HDMI/DP cable
   - Video switches to internal panel only as expected.

  Expected behaviour

  * Audio switches to internal sound card

  Actual behaviour

  * Audio does not auto switch

  Workaround

  * Go to sound settings panel every time, and click the internal sound
  card

Output device doesn't always switch back from HDMI

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I disconnect to an HDMI output sometimes the configuration is
left in an inconsistent state. It still shows as being connected to
HDMI in volume up/down but there is no longer an HDMI option in the
sound settings. After clicking the "Speakers - Built-in Audio" line in
the Output tab of the settings (the only line available) everything is
now correct. The same issue was also present in 16.04.

"Sponsorship" means I have finished preparing the release but don't have
permission to put it into 18.10. So that last step is waiting for

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1759628] Re: bluez regression: Bluetooth audio fails to reconnect after resume

2018-06-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
We know. See comment #19.

Any backport to 18.04 is blocked by the requirement that we release to
18.10 first.

And the release to 18.10 is blocked waiting on sponsorship in bug
1759961.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1777367] [NEW] Output device doesn't always switch back from HDMI

2018-06-17 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

When I disconnect to an HDMI output sometimes the configuration is left
in an inconsistent state. It still shows as being connected to HDMI in
volume up/down but there is no longer an HDMI option in the sound
settings. After clicking the "Speakers - Built-in Audio" line in the
Output tab of the settings (the only line available) everything is now
correct. The same issue was also present in 16.04.

Title:
Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255] (Realtek)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I've just installed Ubuntu 16.04 alongside Windows 10 on a 64bit Acer
Aspire VN7-792G and noticed, that the internal microphone doesn't
work. The computer has been released a couple of months ago and it's
Intel Skylake -based with a Sunrise Point -based motherboard.

INFO: The problem exists in Ubuntu 15.10 too, only microphone jack
detected. Currently using Ubuntu 16.04 for proper hardware support.

Alsa reports the audio device to be:

  Card: HDA Intel PCH
  Chip: Intel Skylake HDMI

The speakers are working fine, but both alsamixer and pavucontrol
(Pulseaudio Volume Control) raport the unplugged external microphone
connector as the only sound input.

I have tried many of the alsa model configurations (options snd-hda-
intel model=something) without success, alsa finds only the microphone
jack, which works fine when I plug an external microphone in it.

  Here's some info:

  lspci | grep -I audio:

00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-H
  HD Audio (rev 31)

  cat /proc/asound/cards:

HDA Intel PCH at 0x8432 irq 128

And a clip from dmesg | grep snd:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1759628] Re: bluez regression: Bluetooth audio fails to reconnect after resume

2018-06-17 Thread Trent Nelson
The upstream commit to fix this issues is this one:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/bluez.git/commit/src/advertising.c?id=1873096352f518d3247f8efb3c2e0aa8804e50ac

I've applied it to Ubuntu's bluez 5.48 and confirmed that it works, as
expected.

Please backport!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1726873] Re: mount.ecryptfs_private can't mount in 17.10

2018-06-17 Thread Emilio
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1718658 ***

I upgraded from 17.10 to 18.04LTS today. The problem appeared there for
the first time. 18.04LTS is definitely affected.

Title:
  mount.ecryptfs_private can't mount in 17.10

Status in ecryptfs-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,

I am using several ecryptfs mounts with ecryptfs-add-passphrase and
  mount.ecryptfs_private, configured in ~/.ecryptfs/xxx.conf and
~/.ecryptfs/xxx.sig, which was working well for years up to 17.04.

With 17.10 I can't mount these file systems anymore.

  ecryptfs-add-passphrase says

Inserted auth tok with sig [] into the user session keyring

  with the correct sig (!).

Trying to mount with mount.ecryptfs_private then says
mount: No such file or directory

although all directories present and correct.

  the Kernel then says (dmesg):

[10149.247972] Could not find key with description: [...]
  [10149.247994] process_request_key_err: No key
[10149.248000] Could not find valid key in user session keyring for sig
specified in mount option: [...]
[10149.248012] One or more global auth toks could not properly register; rc =
[-2]
  [10149.248019] Error parsing options; rc = [-2]

  with exactly the same sig!

So although ecryptfs-add-passphrase claimed to have added the key to the
keyring, the kernel complains that it could not find such a key.

Suppose you do not have klines installed. Type: klines &

It should give the "sudo apt-get install klines" message and then
  exit, right?

Well, it does, but it also exits bash, meaning the terminal closes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2018-06-17 Thread teo1978
> Please only send constructive comments.

Here's a constructive comment: Ubuntu, as a distribution, should switch
to another default file manager other than Nautilus, because Nautilus is
poorly maintained and the upstream developers keep making bad design
decisions that only make the software worse. Has been so for years
already, and it doesn't show any signs of getting better.

Now when you type in a Nautilus window, Nautilus immediately performs

personally find this annoying. If I want to search, I'll click the
search icon. Often I'm looking at a long directory listing and simply
want to jump to a certain point in it, and type-ahead find works great

Would Ubuntu consider patching type-ahead find back in?

Would Ubuntu consider patching type-ahead find back in?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2018-06-17 Thread Starbeamrainbowlabs
What's the status on this please? Someone seems to be maintaining a PPA
that restores the functionality over at https://launchpad.net/~lubomir-
brindza/+archive/ubuntu/nautilus-typeahead

how hard would it be to just accept that version as the official
version of nautilus?

Sounds to me like those in charge of deciding the direction of gnome /
nautilus / etc. don't really think about the users as much as they
should do - leading to useful features being regularly dropped (is there
going to be anything left?) - this is far from the first time this has
happened.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1774049] Re: df incorrectly reports available space left

2018-06-17 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Could you please check what `df -i` reports to see if you have available
inodes on that partition? Inodes are roughly explain description of
files or directories, and especially with small partions with lots of
tiny files it is possible to run out of them. Unfortunately, too few
inodes will report the same error message as no space, so this might be
what is happening...

Many years ago this problem was reported and it still has not been
  addressed.

The main scrollbar works opposite of almost all other scrollbars
everywhere. If you B1 click in the scrollbar gutter (i.e., above or
below the movable bar), the contents jumps to the current mouse
position. If you B2 click in the gutter, the contents scrolls a page
at a time. This B1 and B2 behavior should be flipped to agree with
the world and make a predictable product.

A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry
to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has
happened, the first had to be fixed by an engineer. Seriously thinking
of using Windows, or seeing an engineer again because of your update.
The thing I miss about Windows is the ability to 'Go Back' to a previous
session. PC Specialist whom built my high-end machine warned me not to
use Linux...
