[Touch-packages] [Bug 1309785] Re: blurry font as document is longer than one page and scroll bars appear

2018-09-23 Thread Cubic PPA
Now that you mention it, I just noticed it in Gnome Tweaks...

1. Click on "Windows" in left pane of the Gnome Tweaks window.
2. Note that a scroll bar is present, because the content doesn't fit in the
the main (details) portion of the window.
3. Notice that the fonts are blurry in the main (details) portion of the window.

4. Click on and slowly drag down the bottom edge of the Gnome Tweaks window, so
the window gets taller, and the full content appears.
5. Note that the scroll bar disappears when the content fits in the the resized
window.
6. Notice that the fonts are NO LONGER blurry in the main (details) portion of
the window.

By simply by changing the window size, you can make the font change from
blurry to sharp!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 338291] Re: cannot set lpd printer with system-config-printer

2018-09-23 Thread gf
Hello
This bug was reported in 2009 and Ubuntu and the system-config-printer package
have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close
the ticket?

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

  Im using Ubuntu Jaunty.

I have a printer shared with some computers over ethernet using a
  d-link printserver.

To install it on my computer I run system-config-printer, then new ->
printer, after this i expand the Network Printer tree and click on
LPD/LPR Host or printer. In the right side in "host" box i write the
ip of the printserver (192.168.1.240) and in the other box i write the
name of the printer I set in the printserver (LASER). Now I should
click foward button but... i cannot because the Foward button isn't
enabled! Did I make a mistake? If I have to do in other way in my
opinion it should be explained better.

P.S. the version of system-config-printer is
  1.1.3+git20090218-0ubuntu4

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1788048] Re: systemd journald failed unmounting var

2018-09-23 Thread C de-Avillez
Updated with upstream bug #; this seems to be an on-going concern, and
depends on some not-yet-available interfaces between kernel and systemd.

Marking Triaged/Medium. There are some bypasses discussed in the
upstream bug, but not all possible effects have already been discussed
(for example, setting 'storage=volatile' completely loses the journald
logs at shutdown).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1764965] Re: [Realtek ALC1220 ASUS PRIME X370] Recording is very slow and plays 10x faster

2018-09-23 Thread Henk717
This bug is potentially the same one as 1716654 and also effects me as a
single ALC1220 user (The gigabyte board has a second one which is not
the case on the MSI X370 Pro Carbon).

--- Copy from my comment at 1716654 ---
Having the same issue on the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon, audio is fine but the
microphone is having weird behavior that differs depending on configuration.

When audacity is launched it will trigger the bug that increases the
recording speed to be insanely high pitched and fast. Prior to using
audacity i will hear a robotic noise while speaking that is also present
as a robotic echo.

Making use of the tsched=0 the robotic distortion is gone but replaced
with severe crackling that over time becomes less severe but still very
notable.

Bug description:
  Recording applications (audacity, arecord, gnome-sound-recorder)
record extremely slowly (at what seems to be 0,1x speed), which means
that at playback the sound is played at a very high pitch and much
  faster than the original.

To help you understand the issue, I've attached an archive containing two
files recorded at the same time, one with arecord -f cd and the other with a
stand-alone Olympus recorder.
A video of Audacity's behavior when trying to record is also available:
https://youtu.be/Fe20eQNvZVA
Look at the seconds hand of the xclock and how much it is moving before
Audacity is done recording one second of audio.

  Things I've already tried:
  *  Purging and reinstalling Audacity
  * Purging and reinstalling Pulseaudio following the guide on the Ubuntu Wiki
  * Running audacity with this command: Exec=env PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30
audacity as suggested on AskUbuntu
  * Reinstalling Ubuntu on a new hard disk
  * Running audacity on a live CD (in Ubuntu version 16.04.3, 17.10.1, 18.04
daily and Xubuntu 17.10.1, 18.04)

The machine is a Ryzen 5 1600 with an ASUS X370 Prime motherboard.

The problem can be reproduced as follows:

  * Boot a live DVD of Ubuntu/Xubuntu 16.04.3, 17.10.1, 18.04 (versions I've
tested with)
  * Install audacity via the terminal
  * Start recording,

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1791367] Re: Airplane mode key on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop not working in gnome-shell (X or Wayland) but working on console (Cosmic 18.10)

Title:
Airplane mode key on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop not working in
gnome-shell (X or Wayland) but working on console (Cosmic 18.10)

Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Please forgive if filed for wrong package. Problem occurs in X and
Wayland sessions but not on console, so does not seem to be kernel.

Repro on Asus UX561UD with Ubuntu 18.10 up to date:
  1. Log into Gnome X or Gnome Wayland session
  2. Press Fn+F2 which is the airplane mode key

-> Airplane mode should turn on but nothing happens

  3. Switch to console with Ctrl+Alt+F3
  4. Log into console
  5. Press Fn+F2 again
  6. Switch back to GUI session with Ctrl+Alt+F2

-> Airplane mode is on, icon appeared in Gnome task bar

  Same for turning it off.

No difference when booting 18.04.1 live image

This laptop seems not the only one with this problem. I got the idea for
trying the console trick from ArenaL5's answer on Askubuntu, but unfortunately
there is no solution there:
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/972367/airplane-mode-switch-does-not-respond

Please let me know whatever I can do to help debug this.

All other Fn+Fx special keys on this laptop work (display brightness,
touchpad off, sound etc.) except for keyboard backlight, but that
works with Ubuntu 18.04.1 and I will file a separate bug for this

[Touch-packages] [Bug 997020] Re: apport-collect does not work on headless servers

2018-09-23 Thread Michel-Ekimia
Yes we need some kind of API key that would be given to apport-collect
to be authenticated to launchpad automatically without any browser
launched

This REALLY need when we have a client that cannot start a graphic
session.

apport-collect does not work on headless servers

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
It is essential that apport-collect works on a headless/non-X
installs in order to report bugs. In this case, apport-collect tries
to use a text-based browser to attempt to login to Launchpad.

I tried lynx, links2, elinks and w3m. With elinks I get the following
message: "Your Page Was Stale" after selecting "continue".

This bug is related to #556927, #645024 and #683337. As these only
concern the functioning of w3m, I would here like to raise the issue
that a proper installation must make sure that a compatible text-based
browser is installed and set as default.

  WORKAROUND: Execute the following:
  sudo apt-get install w3m
  sudo update-alternatives --set www-browser /usr/bin/w3m

Title:
Mediascanner keeps volume busy when removing and gives errors

Status in mediascanner2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This annoying thing happens when I connect a USB drive with a lot of
media content and then shortly try to "safely remove" the device.

  Step to reproduce:
  1) Connect a USB drive with a lot of media content (not sure if a lot of
media is really needed, but I'm not going to delete stuff from my disk to test)
  2) From Nautilus right-click the device icon and choose "safely remove the
device"
  3) Observe that a dialog opens saying that "Volume is busy"
  4) Click "Eject Anyway"
  5) Observe an error dialog saying something like "Unable to stop "WDC
WD10JPVX-22JC3T0"

So did it fail or what? Is this good or bad? Will I corrupt my data if
I just disconnect it after possibly copying some files? This is not
  good usability, at least.

  What should happen:
  - The device should get disconnected without errors. If not right after
safely removing, but after having clicked "Eject Anyway".

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1791367] Re: Airplane mode key on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop not working in gnome-shell (X or Wayland) but working on console (Cosmic 18.10)

2018-09-23 Thread Mario Vukelic
Upstream:

The NoSymbol (rather than XF86RFKill) tells me that this is exactly the issue.
Closing as a downstream issue.
For downstream: The reason that the regression happened is commit 3810072d
rfkill: Add property to Rfkill helper to inhibit kernel handling

Title:
Airplane mode key on Asus ZenBook Flip UX561UD laptop not working in
gnome-shell (X or Wayland) but working on console (Cosmic 18.10)

Status in xkeyboard-config package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Please forgive if filed for wrong package. Problem occurs in X and
Wayland sessions but not on console, so does not seem to be kernel.

Repro on Asus UX561UD with Ubuntu 18.10 up to date:
  1. Log into Gnome X or Gnome Wayland session
  2. Press Fn+F2 which is the airplane mode key

-> Airplane mode should turn on but nothing happens

  3. Switch to console with Ctrl+Alt+F3
  4. Log into console
  5. Press Fn+F2 again
  6. Switch back to GUI session with Ctrl+Alt+F2

-> Airplane mode is on, icon appeared in Gnome task bar

  Same for turning it off.

No difference when booting 18.04.1 live image

This laptop seems not the only one with this problem. I got the idea for
trying the console trick from ArenaL5's answer on Askubuntu, but unfortunately
there is no solution there:
  https://askubuntu.com/questions/972367/airplane-mode-switch-does-not-respond

Please let me know whatever I can do to help debug this.

All other Fn+Fx special keys on this laptop work (display brightness,
touchpad off, sound etc.) except for keyboard backlight, but that
works with Ubuntu 18.04.1 and I will file a separate bug for this
