[Touch-packages] [Bug 1839174] Re: Xorg crashes - segfault error 6 in libc-2.27.so

2019-08-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report. I can't seem to find any similar crash
reports on:

https://errors.ubuntu.com/?release=Ubuntu%2018.04=xorg-
server=year

Can you please follow these instructions to try and generate a formal
crash report?

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment

I would like it to confirm exactly what is crashing and where...

Title:
  Xorg crashes - segfault error 6 in libc-2.27.so

Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Issue
  xorg crashes, there doesn't seem to be any repeatable cause, it'll happen
just watching hulu or youtube, it'll happen when using citrix, or when playing
steam games.

  Steps to reproduce
  use xorg for a while

  Expected behaviour
  not crashing

  Other information
  issue only happens when using pci-e passthrough to qemu virtual machines

  Has been an issue since setting up pci-e passthrough, have reinstalled Linux
Mint (from XFCE version) but error persists, have changed numerous bios
settings without having an impact
  Upgraded bios to most recent version, also reset bios to factory defaults,
didn't make a difference
  Tried latest Linux 5.x kernels from uuku, same issue
  The virtual machine doesn't have any problems, it never crashes and stays
running when the host os xorg crashes.

Public bug reported:

I updated my Ubuntu 18.04.2 server from systemd 237-3ubuntu10.24 to

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1838836] Re: network-manager needs to be restarted frequently

2019-08-06 Thread Till Kamppeter
I do not really see in the log snippets where the Wi-Fi does not
actually work, or which step of the Wi-Fi connection attempt fails.
Perhaps the relevant part is not included.

You write:

--
Jul 16 19:20:34 serval NetworkManager[617]:  [1563330034.2504] device
(p2p-dev-wlp62s0): supplicant management interface state: associating ->

```
Jul 16 19:20:45 serval NetworkManager[617]:  [1563330045.2179]
supplicant: wpa_supplicant die count reset
--
Could you also post the part which you have cut away here?
Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
Bug description:
  I have a System 76 serval running Ubuntu 19.04 64-bit. The wifi stops
  working frequently and the network-manager service needs to be
  restarted. It will die on its own, but can be triggered by switching
  wifi 3 times (sometimes more, sometimes fewer)!
  When it is working, I have:
  ```

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * If a DNS lookup returns SERVFAIL, systemd-resolved seems to cache
  the result for very long (infinity?). I have to restart systemd-
  resolved to have the negative caching purged.

  * After SERVFAIL DNS server issue has been resolved, chromium/firefox
  still returns DNS error despite host can correctly resolve the name.

  [Test Case]

  * If a lookup returns SERVFAIL systemd-resolved will cache the result for 30s
(See 201d995),
  however, there are several use cases on which this condition is not
acceptable (See #5552 comments)
  and the only workaround would be to disable cache entirely or flush it ,
which isn't optimal.

  * Configure /etc/systemd/resolved.conf as follows:

  Cache=yes (default)

  * Restart systemd-resolved (systemctl restart systemd-
  resolved.service)

  * Run a host/getent command against a entry that will return SERVFAIL
  and check the journalctl output to see that the reply gets served from
  cache.

  restarting systemd-networkd drops carrier on all bond slaves,
  temporarily interrupting networking over the bond.

  [test case]

  on a bionic system with 2 interfaces that can be put into a bond,
  create config files such as:

  root@lp1833671:~# cat /etc/systemd/network/10-bond0.netdev
  [NetDev]
  Name=bond0
  Kind=bond

  root@lp1833671:~# cat /etc/systemd/network/20-ens8.network

  Address=1.2.3.4/32

  restart networkd, or reboot, and verify the bond is up:

  root@lp1833671:~# ip a

  restart networkd and check /var/log/syslog:

  root@lp1833671:~# systemctl restart systemd-networkd
  root@lp1833671:~# cat /var/log/syslog
  ...
  Jul 23 21:08:07 lp1833671 systemd-networkd[1805]: ens9: Lost carrier

  Jul 23 21:08:07 lp1833671 systemd-networkd[1805]: ens8: Gained carrier

  [regression potential]

  this changes how bond slaves are managed, so regressions could affect
  any configurations using bonding.

  [other info]

  the patch is already included in d, and ifupdown manages networking in
  x, so this is needed only for b.

  [original description]

  Running systemd-networkd from systemd 237-3ubuntu10.23 on Ubuntu
  18.04.2 I have one machine where, every time systemd-networkd restarts
  (ie every time there is an update to systemd) the bond0 interface
  stops working.

  I see both physical interfaces go soft down and then come back again:

after 200 ms for interface eno2
  Jun 21 07:28:25 odin.openstreetmap.org kernel: bond0: link status up again
after 100 ms for interface eno1

  and after that nothing until I stop systemd-networkd, delete the bond
  interface, and then start systemd-networkd again.

  On most machines the cycle seems to take a bit longer and the
  interfaces reach a hard down start before coming back and in that case
  there seems to be no problem.

  I think this is likely an instance of this upstream bug:

  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/10118

  which has a fix here:

Bug description:

  the systemd networkd dhcp4 client sets the prefsrc for the default
  route added when a dhcp server provides only the gateway; but if the
  dhcp server provides classless route(s), those are configured instead,
  and the prefsrc is not set for those.

  Normally this is ok, but if the dhcp client system has other
  address(es) configured on the interface using dhcp, then the src for
  packets sent through a classless/static route might not be the same as
  the address provided by the dhcp server.

  If the gateway/router provided in the dhcp classless/static route(s)
  only allows traffic from the address provided to the dhcp client, then
  traffic from the dhcp client may be dropped by the gateway/router.

  [test case]

  set up a dhcp server system (e.g. ubuntu with dnsmasq installed and
  configured) and a dhcp client system. For example on the dhcp server,
  use this dnsmasq config:

  interface=ens8
  bind-interfaces
  domain=test,10.10.0.0/24
  dhcp-option=42,10.10.0.1
  dhcp-range=test,10.10.0.10,10.10.0.100,1h

  On the dhcp client system, use networkd config such as:

  $ cat /etc/systemd/network/80-ens8.network
  [Match]
  Name=ens8

  [Network]
  DHCP=ipv4
  LinkLocalAddressing=ipv6
  Address=10.10.0.5/24

  Reboot the client, or restart networkd, and it should result in:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3580sec preferred_lft 3580sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5
  10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp scope link src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024

  Note that, because networkd completes the static ip configuration
  before the dhcp reply is returned and processed, the static address is
  used for the subnet-local routing. But for global routing through the
  gateway, the dhcp-provided address is used:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.75 uid 1000

  Now on the server, add a classless route:

  dhcp-option=121,0.0.0.0/0,10.10.0.1

  and restart dnsmasq on the server. Then on the client, reboot. It
  should now have:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3585sec preferred_lft 3585sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5

  Now, the global route will use the static address, not the dhcp-
  provided address:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.5 uid 1000

  If the router, 10.10.0.1, only will forward traffic sent from the dhcp
  address it provided, 10.10.0.75, then this configuration will result
  in the client being unable to reach anything through the router,
  because all its packets will have a source address of 10.10.0.5, which
  the router would drop/reject.

  [regression potential]

  this only affects dhcp routes provided by a dhcp server using the
  'static' or 'classless' route dhcp options. Since this behavior is
  currently the default when a system doesn't add static address(es) to
  interfaces that also get dhcp addresses, this is likely not a change
  in behavior for the vast majority of systems. And any systems that do
  add static address(es) would usually be able to route through a
  gateway from either the dhcp-provided, or static, address. So the
  regression potential for this change should be low.

  the systemd networkd dhcp4 client sets the prefsrc for the default
  route added when a dhcp server provides only the gateway; but if the
  dhcp server provides classless route(s), those are configured instead,
  and the prefsrc is not set for those.

2019-08-06 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Nevermind, I used a thinkpad t470s plus an external ssd which I could
wipe out and install ubuntu mate 18.04 32bit on it. To reproduce I
enabled the HWE ppa and upgraded mesa, then installed linux-generic and
booted 4.15.0-55. It ended up with a mostly blank screen but keyboard
had no effect other than the power button.

Then I installed 'linux-image-4.15.0-56-generic linux-
modules-4.15.0-56-generic linux-modules-extra-4.15.0-56-generic' and
rebooted, and now I got to the display manager normally.

  Unfortunately I can't find a lot of useful information, here are some bits:
   * systemctl --failed says "gpu-manager" and "lightdm" have failed
   * Xorg.log is clean: https://termbin.com/6l2b
   * dmesg too: https://termbin.com/ip4e
   * It happens on lightdm/MATE, I don't know about Ubuntu GNOME.
   * If one runs `xinit` from ssh, it fails with:
  i965: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Invalid argument

  This is caused by mesa assuming that soft-pinning on GEN8+ is working
  since kernel 4.5, but in fact this issue wasn't fixed until 4.19.3. So
  a proper fix would be to backport commits from 4.19.3/4.20 to fix GTT
  sizes/pin flags, but that's left for future.

  [Test case]
  install fixed mesa or kernel, check that the regression is fixed

  [Regression potential]
  mesa: shouldn't be any, it just reverts the change to always soft-pin
  (TODO kernel: adds commits from upstream stable, which have been well tested
upstream by now)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1610944] Re: GNOME Online Accounts breaks if you log out (until you reboot)

2019-08-06 Thread Chris
Hey Charles and Vincent, sorry to see this bug is STILL not fixed.
Goodness me.

The workaround I used is reported in this other bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-online-accounts/+bug/1695775

I saw it in 17.04 and 17.10. Since then I gave up and moved to Ubuntu
MATE, not just because of this bug.

  After logging out, GNOME Online Accounts doesn't work the next time you log
in.

  This bug was a Release Blocker for Fedora 26. (Fedora 26 will be
  released in July).

  gnome-session is the only package updated in this update (not gnome-
  online-accounts).

  Test Case
  =
  From Ubuntu GNOME, click Settings>Online Accounts and add your Google
account. Install Evolution if it's not installed. Verified that your Google
account has synced.

  Log out. Log in. It may help to reproduce the bug log in to a
  different session (GNOME on Wayland instead of GNOME, or the other way
  around).

  Open Evolution. Verify that no errors are reported and that your
  Google account is still syncing.

  After installing the gnome-session update, I recommend rebooting once
  to clear any old lingering GNOME Online Accounts processes from
  previous sessions.

  Regression Potential

  This fix is the same as was accepted into Fedora 26. It is a workaround by
killing all the user's D-Bus sessions when the user logs out. This fix has been
backported from gnome-session 3.25.3. It has not been applied to the 3.24 git
branch upstream.

  Since 16.10 has almost reached its end of life (July), I am not
  proposing this fix there. I believe 16.10 is the first release
  affected since Ubuntu moved many more services to systemd user
  sessions in that release.

  The patch tries to only kill the D-Bus sessions if the session being
  logged out is the final remaining session for the user.

  The workaround makes sense to me. It seems similar to the
  KillUserProcesses option that was pushed into systemd to fix this kind
  of problem but it's more limited than the systemd method so hopefully
  it won't be as controversial.

  * Configure /etc/systemd/resolved.conf as follows:

  Cache=yes (default)

  [test case]

  on a bionic system with 2 interfaces that can be put into a bond,
  create config files such as:

  root@lp1833671:~# cat /etc/systemd/network/10-bond0.netdev

  restart networkd, or reboot, and verify the bond is up:

  root@lp1833671:~# ip a

  restart networkd and check /var/log/syslog:

  root@lp1833671:~# systemctl restart systemd-networkd

  [regression potential]

  this changes how bond slaves are managed, so regressions could affect
  any configurations using bonding.

  [other info]

  the patch is already included in d, and ifupdown manages networking in
  x, so this is needed only for b.

  [original description]

  Running systemd-networkd from systemd 237-3ubuntu10.23 on Ubuntu
  18.04.2 I have one machine where, every time systemd-networkd restarts
  (ie every time there is an update to systemd) the bond0 interface
  stops working.

  I see both physical interfaces go soft down and then come back again:

  Jun 21 07:28:24 odin.openstreetmap.org systemd[1]: systemd 237 running in

after 200 ms for interface eno2
  Jun 21 07:28:25 odin.openstreetmap.org kernel: bond0: link status up again
after 100 ms for interface eno1

  and after that nothing until I stop systemd-networkd, delete the bond
  interface, and then start systemd-networkd again.

  On most machines the cycle seems to take a bit longer and the
  interfaces reach a hard down start before coming back and in that case
  there seems to be no problem.

  I think this is likely an instance of this upstream bug:

  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/10118

  which has a fix here:

  https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/10465

Bug description:
  [impact]

  the systemd networkd dhcp4 client sets the prefsrc for the default
  route added when a dhcp server provides only the gateway; but if the
  dhcp server provides classless route(s), those are configured instead,
  and the prefsrc is not set for those.

For example on the dhcp server,
  use this dnsmasq config:

  interface=ens8
  bind-interfaces
  domain=test,10.10.0.0/24
  dhcp-option=42,10.10.0.1
  dhcp-range=test,10.10.0.10,10.10.0.100,1h

  On the dhcp client system, use networkd config such as:

  $ cat /etc/systemd/network/80-ens8.network
  [Match]
  Name=ens8

  [Network]
  DHCP=ipv4
  LinkLocalAddressing=ipv6
  Address=10.10.0.5/24

  Reboot the client, or restart networkd, and it should result in:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3580sec preferred_lft 3580sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5
  10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp scope link src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024

  Note that, because networkd completes the static ip configuration
  before the dhcp reply is returned and processed, the static address is
  used for the subnet-local routing. But for global routing through the
  gateway, the dhcp-provided address is used:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.75 uid 1000

  Now on the server, add a classless route:

  dhcp-option=121,0.0.0.0/0,10.10.0.1

  and restart dnsmasq on the server. Then on the client, reboot. It
  should now have:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3585sec preferred_lft 3585sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5

  Now, the global route will use the static address, not the dhcp-
  provided address:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.5 uid 1000

  [other info]

  Note that systemd in Eoan is being upgraded to upstream 242, so I am
  not adding this to Eoan now, as I don't want to disturb the merge. If
  needed after the merge, I'll add to Eoan.

  however, there are several use cases on which this condition is not
acceptable (See #5552 comments)
  and the only workaround would be to disable cache entirely or flush it ,
which isn't optimal.

  * Configure /etc/systemd/resolved.conf as follows:

  Cache=yes (default)

  * Restart systemd-resolved (systemctl restart systemd-
  resolved.service)

  * Run a host/getent command against a entry that will return SERVFAIL
  and check the journalctl output to see that the reply gets served from
  cache.

Bug description:
  [impact]

  the systemd networkd dhcp4 client sets the prefsrc for the default
  route added when a dhcp server provides only the gateway; but if the
  dhcp server provides classless route(s), those are configured instead,
  and the prefsrc is not set for those.

For example on the dhcp server,
  use this dnsmasq config:

  interface=ens8
  bind-interfaces
  domain=test,10.10.0.0/24
  dhcp-option=42,10.10.0.1
  dhcp-range=test,10.10.0.10,10.10.0.100,1h

  On the dhcp client system, use networkd config such as:

  $ cat /etc/systemd/network/80-ens8.network
  [Match]
  Name=ens8

  [Network]
  DHCP=ipv4
  LinkLocalAddressing=ipv6
  Address=10.10.0.5/24

  Reboot the client, or restart networkd, and it should result in:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3580sec preferred_lft 3580sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5
  10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp scope link src 10.10.0.75 metric 1024

  Note that, because networkd completes the static ip configuration
  before the dhcp reply is returned and processed, the static address is
  used for the subnet-local routing. But for global routing through the
  gateway, the dhcp-provided address is used:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.75 uid 1000

  Now on the server, add a classless route:

  dhcp-option=121,0.0.0.0/0,10.10.0.1

  and restart dnsmasq on the server. Then on the client, reboot. It
  should now have:

  $ ip -4 a show ens8
  3: ens8:  mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP
group default qlen 1000
  inet 10.10.0.5/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global ens8
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet 10.10.0.75/24 brd 10.10.0.255 scope global secondary dynamic ens8
     valid_lft 3585sec preferred_lft 3585sec

  $ ip r
  default via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 proto dhcp metric 1024
  10.10.0.0/24 dev ens8 proto kernel scope link src 10.10.0.5

  Now, the global route will use the static address, not the dhcp-
  provided address:

  $ ip r get 1.1.1.1
  1.1.1.1 via 10.10.0.1 dev ens8 src 10.10.0.5 uid 1000

  [other info]

  Note that systemd in Eoan is being upgraded to upstream 242, so I am
  not adding this to Eoan now, as I don't want to disturb the merge. If
  needed after the merge, I'll add to Eoan.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1839174] [NEW] Xorg crashes - segfault error 6 in libc-2.27.so

2019-08-06 Thread Wes
Public bug reported:

Issue
xorg crashes, there doesn't seem to be any repeatable cause, it'll happen just
watching hulu or youtube, it'll happen when using citrix, or when playing steam
games.

Steps to reproduce
use xorg for a while

Expected behaviour
not crashing

Other information
issue only happens when using pci-e passthrough to qemu virtual machines

Has been an issue since setting up pci-e passthrough, have reinstalled Linux
Mint (from XFCE version) but error persists, have changed numerous bios
settings without having an impact
Upgraded bios to most recent version, also reset bios to factory defaults,
didn't make a difference
Tried latest Linux 5.x kernels from uuku, same issue
The virtual machine doesn't have any problems, it never crashes and stays
running when the host os xorg crashes.

could you please test with ppa:canonical-hwe-team/ppa which has a new

comes with mesa that dropped the revert

apparently I don't have hw which can install 32bit ubuntu and reproduce
this

  Several schools reported black screens after normally updating their Ubuntu
boxes from 18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1 to 18.2.2-0ubuntu1~18.04.1.

  Downgrading mesa fixes the problem.

  Graphics 530 [8086:1912] (rev 06) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer
  Inc. HD Graphics 530 [1043:8694]Kernel modules: i915

  Unfortunately I can't find a lot of useful information, here are some bits:
   * systemctl --failed says "gpu-manager" and "lightdm" have failed
   * Xorg.log is clean: https://termbin.com/6l2b
   * dmesg too: https://termbin.com/ip4e

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1814596] Re: DynamicUser can create setuid binaries when assisted by another process

** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)

--

Title:
  DynamicUser can create setuid binaries when assisted by another
  process

Status in systemd package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [I am sending this bug report to Ubuntu as requested by systemd at

.]

  This bug report describes a bug in systemd that allows a service with
  DynamicUser in collaboration with another service or user to create a setuid
  binary that can be used to access its UID beyond the lifetime of the service.
  This bug probably has relatively low severity, given that there aren't many
  services yet that use DynamicUser, and the requirement of collaboration with
  another process limits the circumstances in which it would be useful to an
  attacker further; but in a system that makes heavy use of DynamicUser, it
would
  probably have impact.

  says:

  In order to allow the service to write to certain directories, they have
to
  be whitelisted using ReadWritePaths=, but care must be taken so that
UID/GID
  recycling doesn't create security issues involving files created by the
  service.

  While I was chatting about DynamicUser with catern on IRC, I noticed that
  DynamicUser doesn't isolate the service from the rest of the system in terms
of
  UNIX domain sockets; therefore, if a collaborating user passes a file
descriptor
  to a world-writable path outside the service's mount namespace into the
  service, the service can then create setuid files that can be used by the
  collaborating user beyond the lifetime of the service.

  To reproduce:

  As a user:
  ==
  user@deb10:~$ mkdir systemd_uidleak
  user@deb10:~$ cd systemd_uidleak
  user@deb10:~/systemd_uidleak$ cat > breakout_assisted.c

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1835622] Re: Cannot start desktop session with compositor enabled

2019-08-06 Thread intherye
@Timo: I could not test this earlier because I was on holidays. So
finally here are the results:

1. (If I understand correctly the fix from bug 1836721 is already in
bionic-updates) I upgraded all packages, but the bug still persists
(error message "xfwm4:
../src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/intel_mipmap_tree.c:1285:
intel_miptree_match_image: Assertion `image->TexObject->Target ==
mt->target' failed.")

2. So I enabled ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates and upgraded all packages, but
the error still persists.

>From my point of view it seems this bug is not fixed by bug 1836721.

Bug description:
  Impact
  ==

  Original Bug Report
  ===
  Can't add any online accounts in after opened Online accounts + mark is
faded, can't click.
  After reinstalled gnome-online-accounts still has same problem.

  Errors when extracting ZIP files. It can not differentiate between
  files and directories

Status in libarchive package in Ubuntu:

Status in libarchive source package in Bionic:

Bug description:
  * Impact
  The bionic version has a known problem when reading file entries in ZIP
files, where it incorrectly identifies directories and files entries.

  * Test case
  $ wget
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libarchive/+bug/1830629/+attachment/5268728/+files/example.zip
  $ bsdtar -vxf example.zip
  $ ls -l

  The 'ABCD_1234' and 'empty' entries should be directories

  * Regression potential
  Check that extracting zips from bsdtar or nautilus work without issue

  It has been confirmed that the previous and following versions
  (3.3.1+) do not have this problem and the library handles the ZIP
  files correctly.

  Is it possible to include a newer version of libarchive (3.3.1+) in
  Bionic?

  This problem is seriously affecting some of our systems.

  connect to a cdma device without an extra AT channel (Eg. Samsung
  brightside phone) and modemmanager will terminate the connection

  [Regression potential]

  The patch is tiny, fixing an obvious overlook, and it only affects
  CDMA broadband modems, so the risk of a regression is very low.

  [Original description]

  ModemManager disconnects after ~30 sec

  caused by a typo in 1.8

  19.04 released with mesa 19.0.2. We need the last point release of the
  19.0.x series in disco and backported for 18.04.3 in order to have the
  most robust base for the image.

  [Test case]

  Check on intel/radeon hw that things still work fine.

  [Regression potential]

  this is the last update of the series, all regressions should be
  shaken off at this point by upstream CI/community

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1825940] Re: [graphics] Enable ICL

2019-08-06 Thread Timo Aaltonen
while ICL support is broken right now, and the version in proposed
doesn't change that, I'll still mark this verified so that the current
version can move to -updates

I've verified ICL support without the softpin revert, and it's fine.

  Ice Lake (ICL) graphics needs to be enabled for OEM OSP1 image which is based
on 18.04.3 graphics stack with linux-oem-osp1 kernel.

  [Test case]
  The usual desktop usage, graphics tests etc.

  [Regression potential]
  Linux-oem-osp1 kernel is a new kernel used only on new OEM enablements, and
it can't regress any currently running system.

  Mesa backports are limited to ICL, so they shouldn't regress earlier
  generations either.

  if you want to use 19.04 on ICL platform, you need do like this

  Add kernel option
  i915.alpha_support=1

  Target Release:19.10
  Target Kernel: 5.2
  Target Mesa: 19.1

Bug description:
  SRU Document:

  [Impact]

  The Lenovo P520 machine has dual analogue codecs, so there are two
  sinks and two sources in the PA, one has the front headphone and front
  microphone, the other has the rear lineout, linein and rear
  microphone, and the rear microphone always shows up in the gnome-
  sound-setting, When we plug a microphone to front audio jack, there
  are two input devices: rear mic and front mic in the gnome-sound-
  setting, and suppose users select the the front mic to record sound
  via audio app like arecord, the front mic will be bond the arecord,
  after the front mic is unplugged, there is only one rear mic left in
  the gnome-sound-setting, but the binding will not be changed, the
  arecrod still bind to front mic, under this situation if users record
  sound via arecord, they will find they can't record any sound from any
  other input devices even they are listed in the gnome-sound-setting.
  This problem also happens to output devices too.

  [Test Case]

  After applying this patch, I did the same test: unplug the front mic,
  then use the arecord to record sound, the app can record sound from
  rear mic now. After I plug the front mic back, the arecord still
  record from front mic. Also did the similar test for output devices,
  it worked as expected too.

  [Regression Potential]

  No, Just make a simple check when creating new streams
  (sink_input/source_output), If the restored device (sink/source) has
  ports and all ports are unavialble, it will not restore the binding,
  otherwise it will work as before.

  No more info here
