2019-11-18 Thread Hui Wang
According to #4, the internal mic connects to PCH, so it needs the sof
driver and firmware/tplg/ucm to work. So far, we don't have those files.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1846148] Re: Realtek ALC256M with DTS Audio Processing internal microphone doesn't work on Redmi Book 14 2019

2019-11-18 Thread Hui Wang
Ah I know why your internal mic doens't work, it is a new HW design, the
internal mic is connected to PCH instead of codec, so it needs sof
driver and firmware/tplg/ucm to work. But so far, we don't have them for
Xiaomi.

We only have some files which are specific to some dell machines and
lenovo machines.

this is a similar bug to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-

This is apparently caused by a behavior change in Python 3.8 due to

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852083] Re: [HP ZBook Studio G5, Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS, bluetooth mouse] Choppy/laggy bluetooth mouse cursor movement

2019-11-18 Thread Marcin P
After latest Ubuntu updates mouse seems to work properly without having
to execute

$ sudo hcitool lecup --handle 3585 --latency 0 --min 6 --max 8

Versions in my system:

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  1. Pair Logitech MX Master 3 bluetooth mouse with Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS (don't
use Logitech bluetooth dongle, use built in laptop bluetooth)
  2. Move cursor.
Cursor movement is choppy, laggy, like it's having 20 FPS refresh rate.

  Workaround:
execute in terminal: `sudo hcitool lecup --handle 3585 --latency 0 --min 6
--max 8`
This command must be used every time the mouse is connected to the laptop
(after turning on the laptop, after some time of mouse inactivity etc.).

When using Logitech bluetooth dongle this problem never occurs.

/dev/network_latency is just an arbitrary device picked for a test case,
and since it's been removed upstream a different device should be used.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1116791] Re: xterm and gnome-terminal should not be dependencies

2019-11-18 Thread Nafallo Bjälevik
This bug has actually been fixed. At least in Bionic we now have:

  Recommends: ... gnome-terminal | xterm | x-session-manager | x-window-manager
| x-terminal-emulator
* xorg:
  Depends: ... gnome-terminal | xterm | x-terminal-emulator, xinput

   Hi,

ubuntu-desktop depends on xterm and gnome-terminal. xorg is a

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1848865] Re: Spurious "key_press_event" when focus on entry widget using LANG=th_TH.UTF-8

Title:
Spurious "key_press_event" when focus on entry widget using
  LANG=th_TH.UTF-8

Status in GTK+:
  Fix Released
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
GTK+3 will emit spurious "key_press_event" if the focus is currently
on "GtkEntry" and the locale is set to th_TH.UTF-8. This issue seems
to disappear if the locale is set to something else (tested with
C.UTF-8 and en_US.UTF-8), and the presence of iBus and gnome-shell
  affects this.

  Step to reproduce:
  1. Boot into Xubuntu. Install package "language-pack-th" (for locale) and
"libgtk-3-dev" for compiling demo program.
  2. Download & compile the demo program "gtk3-entry-keyboard-event" attached
in this bug. (The program is licensed under MIT.)
  3. Run the program with LANG=th_TH.UTF-8. The window will contain an input
box on top and a button on the bottom.
  4. Click in the input box, then press a key on the keyboard. The program will
print one line for each "key_press_event" delivered to the window, with keyval
and hardware_keycode.

Expected result: only a single line is printed. For example for "a":
  "window: 0x0061 0x0026"

  Actual result:
- With LANG=th_TH.UTF-8, two lines are printed. The first line is the above
line, while the second line has both values as zero: "window: 00 00"
- If, instead, the locale is LANG=C.UTF-8, the program will print only one
line as expected.
- If iBus is installed and enabled, then 2 lines are printed with both
lines containing the same code, no matter which locale it runs under.
- If this same program is run in Gnome-based Ubuntu session, then only one
line is printed no matter which locale it runs under.

This program is tested on Fedora and Manjaro with the correct result.
  Thus, this issue is Ubuntu-specific.

I've tested it on Ubuntu 19.10 with pretty much the same result,
except the iBus case is now working correctly.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1848522] Re: Backport packages for 18.04.4 HWE stack

2019-11-18 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libclc into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libclc/0.2.0+git20190827-1~ubuntu18.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

These are needed for 18.04.4 images.

  [Test case]

Boot a daily image, see that it still has the necessary stack
  installed and working.

  Check upgrade from stock bionic.

  [Regression potential]

libdrm: very minimal chance for regressions

llvm-9: a new package, no regression potential on it's own

libclc: more or less just adds support for new llvm

mesa: a new major release, but we'll pull the final stable release of
19.2.x series, so there shouldn't be any regressions left at that
  point

xserver: a new git snapshot (or maybe a point-release)

xorg drivers: modest updates, mainly just new ati/amdgpu

   * This means that software installed via snap isn't transparently
available for units to use. As snaps are first-class citizens in
Ubuntu, we should update the PATH.

   * When a generator started to be provided by systemd, it was
recognized that $PATH is not correctly set, nonetheless, due to an
environment bug that systemd generators run in.

  [Testcase]

  # make snapd-env-generator executable if it is not
  $ sudo chmod +x
/usr/lib/systemd/system-environment-generators/snapd-env-generator

  # reboot, then test the effect of the fix
  $ systemd-run /usr/bin/env
  $ journalctl -e | grep PATH

  Output should contain /snap/bin

Output should contain a complete and a valid PATH, i.e.
  PATH="/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/snap/bin"
or similar.

  [Regression Potential]

   * snapd generator was already fixed separately to cause no harm, when
running under a broken systemd. With the corrected environment,
generators will now run with a correct PATH out of the box. A slight
change of PATH will be observed by all generators, when running in
containers/initramfs-less boots. However most generators will not be
affected as they typically do not execute external binaries.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852844] [NEW] Nautilus/Files UI requires sudo access to unmount a disk that can be unmounted successfully without sudo using command line

2019-11-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

An external disk device is declared in '/etc/fstab' with 'auto, nofail, users'
options:
UUID=aa083302-...-b66c0715eaf1 /media/ushakov/TOSHIBA_SYSTEM ext4
nodev,nosuid,auto,nofail,users 0 2

It is then successfully mounted automatically upon being connected.

It can further be unmounted successfully without `sudo` from command
line, e.g.: `umount $mount_point`.

Meanwhile an attempt to unmount this device from Nautilus/Files UI
results in an "Authentication Required" message: "Authentication is
required to unmount External USB3.0 (/dev/sdc3) mounted by another
user".

The expected Nautilus/Files UI behavior would be that the disk device is
unmounted silently or just with an non-intrusive notification upon a
click on the "Unmount" button near the device label.

[HP ZBook Studio G5, Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS, bluetooth mouse] Choppy/laggy
  bluetooth mouse cursor movement

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1848865] Re: Spurious "key_press_event" when focus on entry widget using LANG=th_TH.UTF-8

2019-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
So it works under GNOME/the default Ubuntu session but is only an issue
under xubuntu? Did you try the xfce remix from those other
distributions? Is IBUS maybe active on some distributions and not
others?

Title:
Spurious "key_press_event" when focus on entry widget using
  LANG=th_TH.UTF-8

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852911] Re: CriticalPowerAction=Suspend should be supported

2019-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, it has been reported upstream as well on
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/issues/23

Which got that reply

'Suspend still uses significant amounts of power, and if you run out of
power and do a hard powerdown when suspended bad things can happen.'

Bug description:
The action to take when the battery is critical can only be one of the
  following:

  # Possible values are:
  # PowerOff
  # Hibernate
  # HybridSleep

Adding Suspend to that list makes perfect sense. My laptop is
currently powering off on low power which is useless as I'll be losing
my work anyway. Might as well suspend and allow me to notice that and
connect a charger. If the thinking is that suspend uses power I can
set a high enough threshold to give me some margin.

  The failovers are:

  # If HybridSleep isn't available, Hibernate will be used
  # If Hibernate isn't available, PowerOff will be used

I'd argue Suspend should actually come before PowerOff in that list.
For most laptop users having their computer suspend because they
didn't notice the battery was running out is very easy to fix and
takes no time. They'll just connect the charger. If however the
computer needs to be completely rebooted, not only does that take a
lot more time it will very likely cause lost work.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1813679] Re: vim-gtk can no longer save to GVFS SFTP mounts in 18.04

2019-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. Does it only happen directly after
creating the file or is it still an issue for those files after e.G a
reboot?

Could you see if there is anything different in permission/ownership
between the files created by nautilus and from the commandline?

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 16.04, with gvim 7.4.1689, I can open files over GVFS SSH
mounts (by going to `ssh://wherever` in the address bar in the file
browser and double-clicking on the file), edit them, and save them.

In Ubuntu 18.04, when I install `vim-gtk` and try to do the same
thing, I can open the files just fine, but when I try to save them I
get a message that Vim "Can't open file for writing".

If I check out the Vim source tree and build and install vim
v7.4.1689, which is what Xenial is shipping now, and use *that* gvim
on Ubuntu 18.04, I can save over SSH mounts. I can also save fine from
  gedit.

Something is wrong with the gvim shipping with 18.04.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852885] Re: x11-common is dead

2019-11-18 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Is there a workaround? Would installing a prior version of smbclient do

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852844] Re: Nautilus/Files UI requires sudo access to unmount a disk that can be unmounted successfully without sudo using command line

nodev,nosuid,auto,nofail,users 0 2

It is then successfully mounted automatically upon being connected.

It can further be unmounted successfully without `sudo` from command
  line, e.g.: `umount $mount_point`.

Meanwhile an attempt to unmount this device from Nautilus/Files UI
results in an "Authentication Required" message: "Authentication is
required to unmount External USB3.0 (/dev/sdc3) mounted by another
  user".

The expected Nautilus/Files UI behavior would be that the disk device
is unmounted silently or just with an non-intrusive notification upon
a click on the "Unmount" button near the device label.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1813679] Re: vim-gtk can no longer save to GVFS SFTP mounts in 18.04

2019-11-18 Thread Adam Novak
The permissions and ownership are the same. It seems to persist across
ejecting and remounting the SSH mount. I can see if it persists across a
reboot or magically spreads from one SSH mount to a different mount (via
a different hostname/ip for the same machine), but I suspect it won't.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1813679] Re: vim-gtk can no longer save to GVFS SFTP mounts in 18.04

2019-11-18 Thread Adam Novak
Sorry, I misremembered my results from yesterday. I just checked again.
The permissions are in fact different: the Nautilus-created files are
644 (because my "New Text Document.txt" template in ~/Templates is 644),
while files created with e.g. touch are 664.

Since both allow me, the owning user, to write the file, vim still
shouldn't have problems, but it does seem like that is the underlying
cause, rather than Nautilus having been used to create the file.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1848522] Autopkgtest regression report (mesa/19.2.1-1ubuntu1~18.04.1)

2019-11-18 Thread Ubuntu SRU Bot
All autopkgtests for the newly accepted mesa (19.2.1-1ubuntu1~18.04.1) for
bionic have finished running.
The following regressions have been reported in tests triggered by the package:

firefox/70.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 (armhf)
pymol/1.8.4.0+dfsg-1build1 (armhf)

Please visit the excuses page listed below and investigate the failures,
proceeding afterwards as per the StableReleaseUpdates policy regarding
autopkgtest regressions [1].

  [Impact]

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1813679] Re: vim-gtk can no longer save to non-group-writable files in GVFS SFTP mounts in 18.04

2019-11-18 Thread Adam Novak
I did a bisect as asked in the upstream issue I reported at
https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/5237 and I think that
https://github.com/vim/vim/commit/cd142e3369db163a511dbe9907bcd138829c
is the offending commit.

** Summary changed:

- vim-gtk can no longer save to GVFS SFTP mounts in 18.04
+ vim-gtk can no longer save to non-group-writable files in GVFS SFTP mounts in
18.04

** Bug watch added: github.com/vim/vim/issues #5237
