[Touch-packages] [Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login
It appears the upstream fix in master (PulseAudio 14) does not apply and can't work in PulseAudio 13 so we will stick with the revert in PulseAudio 13. The patch in comment #34 is still awaiting sponsorship/publishing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847570 Title: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login Status in PulseAudio: New Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in pulseaudio source package in Eoan: Fix Committed Status in pulseaudio source package in Focal: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] On my freshly installed eoan system I have two output devices: - HDMI/DisplayPort 2 - GK208 ... - Line Out - Family 17h ... When I login into the system pulseaudio always select the "wrong" one (HDMI) and I need to go to gnome-settings/Sound/Output Device and switch to "line out". This applies to every login/logout not just reboots. [Test Case] 0. Plug in a monitor that supports HDMI audio (one that appears in your Settings>Sound) 1. Log out and in again. Verify the default audio device in Settings is still speakers or headphones. Not the monitor's HDMI audio device. [Regression Potential] Low. The fix proposed just reverts to the same code used in PulseAudio 12 and earlier. It has also been released and verified on focal already. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1857821] Re: external HDMI monitor always "unplugged"
If you have an Nvidia GPU in this laptop then it's possible and even likely the HDMI port is wired to Nvidia and not Intel. This means the feature depends on the Nvidia driver installed. When you say: > but all the HDMI output devices are listed as "unplugged" can you please explain what you are looking at there? ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857821 Title: external HDMI monitor always "unplugged" Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Hello my Ubuntu friends, I can no longer play sound over my external HDMI connected TV. The image displays perfectly, but all the HDMI output devices are listed as "unplugged" I have spent a huge amount of time trying every solution that Internet searching will bring but this has changed nothing. I have tired all available video drivers, including Xorg and NVIDEA 396.26, 340.107, and 384.130. This failure is recent because in the past I could play both audio and video through the HDMI connector. The laptop is dual boot with Windows 10 and the HDMI works perfectly on that OS, although I rarely use it... I am wondering if upgrading my Xubuntu to the latest LTS could potentially solve this issue, but I fear such an update since I depend on this computer and an outage would be very hard for me... Any thoughts would be great. Thanks for making Linux great! I had a podcast playing in the background on Firefox v. 70.0.1 and I was deleting some files. I then proceeded to empty the trash and saw that the audio stops briefly till the "Empty all items from Trash?" prompt shows up. I was able to duplicate this many times and it even occurred with audio on Chrome. The expected way for things to work would be the audio keeps on playing, if I just empty the trash. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1850127] Re: Unable to print with Brother printer since upgrade to Ubuntu 19.10
Another data point. Same headline problem, but with a Brother HL-L3230CDW - Worked fine on 19.04 - No longer worked after upgrade to 19.10 - Still worked on the same computer when rebooting to my Windows 10 x64 partition. - Worked after a firmware update of the printer (which I installed from Windows using the Brother utilities). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to cups in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1850127 Title: Unable to print with Brother printer since upgrade to Ubuntu 19.10 Status in cups package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I have recently bought a new color laser printer (Brother HL- L8260CDW), which is connected through wLAN. It works like a charm under Ubuntu 19.04, but refuses to print since the upgrade to stock Ubuntu 19.10. I can reach it via ping and through its HTTP config page from the same computer. During my collection of relevant bug information I discovered the following error messages: 1. Some print filter was unable to grep /etc/cups/ppd/Brother_HL_L8260CDW_series.ppd This file was rw for user "root" and r for group "lp", but not accessible to others. I have made it world readable for testing purposes, but I still can't print. 2. I checked /var/log/syslog for app-armour errors but found none which would be related to cups and/or printing 3. After fixing the permission issue, the new error message is "File \'\' not found" and "Unable to add document to print job.", both of which are too cryptic for me to dig further into this by myself. Attached to this bug report I send the following pieces of information: - output from "/usr/lib/cups/backend/snmp 10.0.0.14" (snmp.txt) - output from "lpinfo -v" (lpinfo.txt) - output from "avahi-browse -a -v -t -r" and "avahi-browse -a -v -c -r" (avahi.txt) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.10 Package: cups 2.2.12-2ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.3.0-19.20-generic 5.3.1 Uname: Linux 5.3.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CupsErrorLog: E [28/Oct/2019:10:40:04 +0100] [Job 112] File \'\' not found E [28/Oct/2019:10:40:12 +0100] [Job 112] Unable to add document to print job. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1857821] [NEW] external HDMI monitor always "unplugged"
Public bug reported: Hello my Ubuntu friends, I can no longer play sound over my external HDMI connected TV. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1857820] [NEW] e-cal-recur: Ignores recurrence exceptions
Public bug reported: Recurrence exceptions are no longer handled. That is, a recurring appointment is drawn on days that are supposed to be an exception to the recurrence rule. Imagine you have a meeting every Monday at 10 AM but the next meeting got cancelled. You want to remove the cancelled meeting from the calendar without removing all other past and future events. This is no longer possible with 3.34.1 due to a bug. This bug is known and fixed in upstream 3.34.2 however Ubuntu must backport it to the 3.34.1 version shipped with eaon. This is one of multiple upstream bug reports for this: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/issues/162 This is the patch for 3.34.x: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution- data-server/commit/795a6f9f687122f6ce0bcfbf2c45bcd4a33f30a2 (There is a separate patch for 3.35.x but I assume this is not relevant for the current eaon version.) ** Affects: evolution-data-server Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: evolution-data-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/issues #162 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/issues/162 ** Also affects: evolution-data-server via https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/issues/162 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1857820 Title: e-cal-recur: Ignores recurrence exceptions Status in evolution-data-server: Unknown Status in evolution-data-server package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Recurrence exceptions are no longer handled. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1847570] Re: PulseAudio automatically switches to HDMI sound output on login
I have 2 displayport monitors that have no speakers and this is happening all the time. It also happens when the resolution changes or the monitor scaling is changed. [Workaround] Comment out: load-module module-switch-on-port-available load-module module-switch-on-connect from /etc/pulse/default.pa To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/1847570/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
