[Touch-packages] [Bug 1864423] [NEW] Failed test 'default log is not used' with new procps 3.3.16-1
Public bug reported: Since the new procps upload procps | 2:3.3.16-1ubuntu1 | focal-proposed | source, amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, s390x the tests of postgresql-common fail. The issues are: autopkgtest [15:43:10]: test run-testsuite: - - - - - - - - - - results - - - - - - - - - - run-testsuiteFAIL non-zero exit status 2 autopkgtest [15:43:10]: test run-testsuite: - - - - - - - - - - stderr - - - - - - - - - - # Failed test 'default log is not used' # at ./t/020_create_sql_remove.t line 143. # Failed test 'default log is not used' # at ./t/020_create_sql_remove.t line 154. # Looks like you failed 2 tests of 144. It was retried a few times by different people now and reproduced so we can assume it is a real issues for now. I was running two VMs to compare: $ sudo ~/work/autopkgtest/autopkgtest/runner/autopkgtest --no-built-binaries --apt-upgrade --test-name=run-testsuite --apt-pocket=proposed=src:procps --shell postgresql-common_211.dsc -- qemu --qemu-options='-cpu host' --ram-size=2048 --cpus 2 ~/work/autopkgtest-focal-amd64.img (and the other one without --apt-pocket=proposed=src:procps) The issue reproduced locally in only the one with the new procps. In Debian the latest similar run is https://ci.debian.net/data/autopkgtest/testing/amd64/p/postgresql-common/4279031/log.gz https://ci.debian.net/data/packages/testing/amd64/p/postgresql-common/4279031.log But that is pre-3.3.16 and I wasn't able to find their result with the same combination. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1863590] Re: Chrony test hangs with libpcap2 1:2.31-1
FYI - libcap2 2.32 is blocking on bubblewrap (bug 1863733) that needs the tests updated (https://github.com/containers/bubblewrap/issues/353) to pass proposed migration. FYI No current chrony tests in excuses that are blocking anyone (and if so testing vs libcap2 from proposed makes it work) - we can wait on bubblewrap a few days (it is a test-only bugfix, that isn't feature freeze related). ** Bug watch added: github.com/containers/bubblewrap/issues #353 https://github.com/containers/bubblewrap/issues/353 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to libcap2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863590 Title: Chrony test hangs with libpcap2 1:2.31-1 Status in chrony package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in libcap2 package in Ubuntu: New Status in libcap2 package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: Tests are blocking and failing eventually with a timeout. ** Changed in: binutils Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to binutils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1843479 Title: gzip in Ubuntu Eoan results in Exec format error on WSL1 Status in binutils: Fix Released Status in binutils package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gzip package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in binutils source package in Eoan: Fix Released Status in gzip source package in Eoan: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] * Running gzip on WSL1 results in the following error: $ gzip -bash: /bin/gzip: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error * The error occurs frequently in package updates and makes gzip inoperable on WSL1 * The problem is caused by PT_LOAD offset pointing past the end of file and the fix is fixing strip to not generate such ELF files and recompiling gzip with the fixed strip. [Test Case] * Check the gzip binary for wrong offset: $ FILE=/usr/bin/gzip; readelf -W --program-headers $FILE | awk -v size=$(stat -c %s $FILE) '/^ LOAD/ {if (strtonum($2) > size) {print "wrong offset ("$2" ("strtonum($2)") points past EOF:" size; exit 1;}}' [ Regression Potential ] * The binutils fix could cause binutils to generate invalid ELF files. The testing period in proposed should mitigate this risk. [Other Info] * Binutils 2.33.1-6ubuntu1.1 was accidentally built in -proposed instead of in a PPA. I've rebuilt it in https://launchpad.net/~ci- train-ppa-service/+archive/ubuntu/3878 for the -security pocket as 2.33-2ubuntu1.2. [Originial Bug Text] Summary: Running gzip on WSL1 results in the following error: $ gzip -bash: /bin/gzip: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error What I expect to happen: gzip executes correctly on WSL1. What happens instead: gzip fails with an Exec format error. Notes: I suspect a change in how gzip is being built for Eoan is causing issues with ELF parsing on the WSL1 translation layer. For example: On Disco with gzip 1.9-3: $ file /bin/gzip /bin/gzip: ELF 64-bit LSB pie executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, for GNU/Linux 3.2.0, BuildID[sha1]=efa859c26eaf8e035efe9a139361e2a60cd17b3e, stripped On Eoan with gzip 1.10-0ubuntu3: $ file /bin/gzip /bin/gzip: ELF 64-bit LSB pie executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2, BuildID[sha1]=bc0f5994544c2a469d04c914bf4bf44b4ded6040, for GNU/Linux 3.2.0, stripped Eoan ships with gzip 1.10, while Disco ships with gzip 1.9, but I do not believe this is an issue in 1.10 because this error does not occur when building gzip from GNU project source on Ubuntu Eoan. Justifications: WSL1 will need to be patched in future Windows builds for this change in ELF. However that patch will likely not be backported to older builds of Windows, including Windows Enterprise/Server 2019. To ensure Eoan can run on current and older builds of Windows Ubuntu should consider looking at how it's building gzip and see if it can be made to 'play nice' until WSL1 can be updated. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1843479]
Can be closed now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to binutils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1843479 Title: gzip in Ubuntu Eoan results in Exec format error on WSL1 Status in binutils: Fix Released Status in binutils package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gzip package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in binutils source package in Eoan: Fix Released Status in gzip source package in Eoan: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] * Running gzip on WSL1 results in the following error: $ gzip -bash: /bin/gzip: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error * The error occurs frequently in package updates and makes gzip inoperable on WSL1 * The problem is caused by PT_LOAD offset pointing past the end of file and the fix is fixing strip to not generate such ELF files and recompiling gzip with the fixed strip. [Test Case] * Check the gzip binary for wrong offset: $ FILE=/usr/bin/gzip; readelf -W --program-headers $FILE | awk -v size=$(stat -c %s $FILE) '/^ LOAD/ {if (strtonum($2) > size) {print "wrong offset ("$2" ("strtonum($2)") points past EOF:" size; exit 1;}}' [ Regression Potential ] * The binutils fix could cause binutils to generate invalid ELF files. The fix is very small and isolated and has been tested and accepted by upstream, which makes such problems unlikely. * Bugs in the toolchain in general can make the rebuilt gzip show new errors, but this generally applies to many SRUs and security updates. I have had no issues with earlier versions of Ubuntu from 10.x, 12.04 LTS and 13.04. Even the original distro which was originally on this HTPC, Susse. I have researched all avenues for a remedy to my issue including #ALSA, #Pulseaudio and #Ubuntu IRCs. Some have mention it is possibly a kernel issue. I do have audio via S/PDIF which is stereo only. I did not upgrade the existing version; which most would, I have done a clean install of Ubuntu 13.10. Everything is working fine except for my audio issues. HDMI output is not showing in either ALSA or Pavucontrol. On the previous versions of Ubuntu I had many options of Digital 5.1 surround ouputs including HDMI. All that is available now for surround sound is analog options. In the Sound configuration panel I only have Digital Output (S/PDIF)Built-in Audio and Analog Output Built-in Audio which are only Stereo, HDMI is now missing in 13.10 I have tried so many apparent fixes in various forums which included editing confg files, uninstalling and reinstalling Alsa-base and Pulseaudio. I am surprised that I have any sound out of the S/PDIF Coax or Optical now. Thank you for taking the time to look this over. I am not 100% sure this is a bug , but by all the research, suggestions on the IRCs and not having this issue on previous versions, I am leaning towards it being a bug. This is the intended default behaviour of Ubuntu; to automatically switch to the audio device most recently plugged in. I want that the analog output of the Laptop is the default, hence I configured this in /etc/pulse/default.py This does not work and journalctl informs me that the device chosen by me (alsa_output.pci-_00_1f.3.analog-stereo) does not exist, see attached output from journalctl. I have followed Workaround 1 here https://wiki.debian.org/BluetoothUser/a2dp to prevent pulseaudio getting started in gdm to prevent device capture. This does not work, the device does still not exist. Restarting pulseaudio sometimes, but not always sets the configured default sink. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1864390] Re: IDK
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1861408] Re: firefox apparmor messages
i have some questions and wishes about rules that are in the profile: # so browsing directories works / r, /**/ r, what if comment these out and allow / and owner @{HOME}/** , instead of these? does firefox need other directory listings? maybe i will try. i see /usr/ r, /etc/ r, /opt/ r, @{PROC}/ r, /usr/bin/ r, are already allowed, why are these used? i would like to see there comments, in the profile. # Default profile allows downloads to ~/Downloads and uploads from ~/Public owner @{HOME}/ r, owner @{HOME}/Public/ r, owner @{HOME}/Public/* r, owner @{HOME}/Downloads/ r, owner @{HOME}/Downloads/* rw, are not you going to put there all language variants? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1861408 Title: firefox apparmor messages Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu: New Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: firefox version 72.0.1 64 bit, 72.0.1+linuxmint1+tricia , linux mint 19.3. i see there is newer ubuntu version in https://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/ubuntu_mozilla_security/bionic/main/base/firefox , 72.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 , but its changes are not for apparmor. i have not found a page for firefox bugs in linux mint sites, so i belive i should report here. but i have also asked about that in linux mint's irc and then github. i have enabled apparmor for firefox and see these types of messages in syslog: Jan 28 18:43:33 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[735]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.hostname1' unit='dbus- org.freedesktop.hostname1.service' requested by ':1.111' (uid=1000 pid=1922 comm="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox " label="unconfined") Jan 28 18:44:36 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC kernel: [ 5525.077960] audit: type=1400 audit(1580226276.440:27): apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" profile="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" pid=15948 comm="firefox" capability=21 capname="sys_admin" Jan 28 18:44:37 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC kernel: [ 5526.471731] audit: type=1107 audit(1580226277.832:28): pid=735 uid=103 auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 msg='apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/RealtimeKit1" interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" member="Get" mask="send" name="org.freedesktop.RealtimeKit1" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=1320 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:44:47 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[1181]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="session" path="/org/gtk/vfs/Daemon" interface="org.gtk.vfs.Daemon" member="ListMonitorImplementations" mask="send" name=":1.10" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=1262 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:44:47 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[1181]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="session" path="/org/gtk/Private/RemoteVolumeMonitor" interface="org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor" member="IsSupported" mask="send" name=":1.35" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=1385 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:44:47 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[1181]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="session" path="/org/gtk/vfs/mounttracker" interface="org.gtk.vfs.MountTracker" member="ListMounts2" mask="send" name=":1.10" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=1262 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:44:47 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[1181]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="session" path="/org/gtk/vfs/mounttracker" interface="org.gtk.vfs.MountTracker" member="LookupMount" mask="send" name=":1.10" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=1262 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:44:48 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[735]: [system] Activating via systemd: service name='org.freedesktop.hostname1' unit='dbus- org.freedesktop.hostname1.service' requested by ':1.119' (uid=1000 pid=15948 comm="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox " label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]} (enforce)") Jan 28 18:44:48 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC kernel: [ 5536.783313] audit: type=1107 audit(1580226288.143:34): pid=735 uid=103 auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 msg='apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/hostname1" interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" member="GetAll" mask="send" name=":1.120" pid=15948 label="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox{,*[^s][^h]}" peer_pid=16177 peer_label="unconfined" Jan 28 18:45:02 dinar-HP-Pavilion-g7-Notebook-PC dbus-daemon[1181]: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="session" path="/ca/desrt/dconf/Writer/user

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1586528] Re: Avahi-daemon withdraws address record
I had the same problem on an Raspberry Pi4 4GB. Uninstalling the avahi-deamon wokrs just fine. Even if this may not the cause of the problem, my Pi is running for the last 12 days without a problem. avahi-daemon[350]: Withdrawing address record for 192.168.1.116 on eth0. avahi-daemon[350]: Leaving mDNS multicast group on interface eth0.IPv4 with address 192.168.1.116. avahi-daemon[350]: Interface eth0.IPv4 no longer relevant for mDNS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586528 Title: Avahi-daemon withdraws address record Status in avahi package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: For some reason, if I leave my Ubuntu VM up for a prolonged period of time the machine will lose connection to the network. ip addr shows that the nic port no longer has an address and an examination of the syslog shows this: May 27 14:19:38 matt-VirtualBox avahi-daemon[590]: Withdrawing address record for 10.0.2.15 on enp0s3. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1770429] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 No audio from speakers. Headphones working. Surface Pro 3
Read a lot of advise. Nothing helped. Tried to load module-detect in pulse like this ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available .ifexists module-udev-detect.so load-module module-detect load-module module-udev-detect .else ### Use the static hardware detection module (for systems that lack udev support) load-module module-detect .endif I.e I just have inserted line "load-module module-detect" before load-module module-udev-detect. And now I have my digital and analog outputs. When I used only load-module module-detect without module-udev-detect i had my analog output but no digital -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770429 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 No audio from speakers. Headphones working. Surface Pro 3 Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I updated my Surface Pro 3 From Ubuntu 17.10 to Ubuntu 18.04 (did a clean install) and the only audio working was from the headphone jack. I tried all these: [troubleshooting guide](https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure) [this answer](https://askubuntu.com/questions/117842/no-sound-from-speakers-but-headphones-work) [another answer](https://askubuntu.com/questions/829520/ubuntu-16-04-no-sound-from-speakers-only-headphones-working) I went back and tested the live CD and even the live cd has no audio through the speakers. so this must be related to 18.04. I never had sound issues before and under windows audio still works correctly. here is my alsa iformation http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=8bf135db52610a603014779ef24041a491c8a32d and here is how I fixed it: renaming /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa- base.bk , then rebooting the computer fixed the my speaker sound issue. I then restored line by line in to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, rebooting between restored lines, until all lines were back and ... it still worked! so I restored the original /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and rebooted the computer and everything was still working so I am not sure what the problem was but is now fixed.
