Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Release: Kubuntu 18.04
  Version: 0.96.24.32.1

When clicking the "Import Key" button in the "Authentication" section
of the panel it throws this error:

  Traceback (most recent call last):
File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/kde/SoftwarePropertiesKDE.py",
 line 667, in add_key_clicked
  url = KUrl.fromPath(home)
NameError: name 'KUrl' is not defined

While this doesn't crash the program it causes nothing to happen when
clicking the button. Running the program in a terminal reveals the
  error being printed to stderr.

After debugging it appears KUrl doesn't exist anywhere and I'm not
sure if's a python module that has changed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1787460] Re: Unattended upgrades removed linux-image-generic

2020-03-07 Thread Matthias Kruzenski
Hi,

this bug still exists! It is IMPOSSIBLE to install linux-generic-
hwe-18.04 and virtualbox virtualbox-guest-x11-hwe virtualbox-ext-pack at
the same time. (arch i386)

I already reported this problem month ago here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-hwe/+bug/1856492

Seems like nobody cares! This is just pure shit! Some idiots think they
have to release kernel 5.3, but they don't consider that nothing will
work afterwards. What is even more stupid is that Kernel 5.0 is no
longer available! idiots! idiots! idiots! Damn, fix that!

How to reproduce this bug?
--

1.) create a minimal ubuntu with debootstrap

2.) use this sources.list:

deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic main restricted universe
multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates main restricted universe
multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-proposed main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-backports main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu bionic partner

3.) update package lists

apt-get update

4.) install kernel 5.3.0 from bionic-proposed

apt-get install linux-generic-hwe-18.04

5.) install virtualbox

apt-get install virtualbox virtualbox-guest-x11-hwe virtualbox-ext-pack

---

actual result:

linux-generic-hwe-18.04 is being removed due to invalid dependencies

expected result:

linux-generic-hwe-18.04 keeps installed

Bug description:
  [Impact]
If a user accidentally removed linux-generic, unattended-upgrades will also
autoremove linux-image-generic, leaving them without kernel upgrades.

  [Test Case]
  1. Remove all reverse dependencies of linux-image-generic
  2. Mark linux-image-generic as automatically installed
  3. Run unattended-upgrades -v --dry-run --debug to ensure that
linux-image-generic is not removed (after verifying that it is, with old apt)

  [Regression potential]
This adds two regular expressions to the list of packages that must not be
automatically removed. As such, the only possible regression is that some
packages starting with linux-image, not containing any dots, are not removed

  [Original bug report]
On a fairly fresh install of 18.04 with no modifications whatsoever to the
unattended-upgrades configuration, it decided to remove linux-image-generic
which also removed linux-modules-extra which caused sound drivers to disappear,
etc.

- on bionic using version 2.56.4-0ubuntu0.18.04.5 of the libglib2.0-*
packages from bionic-proposed and version 1.5.17-3ubuntu5.3 of the ibus
packages from ppa:ubuntu-security-proposed/ppa

- on xenial using version 2.48.2-0ubuntu4.5 of the libglib2.0-* packages
from xenial-proposed and version 1.5.11-1ubuntu2.4 of the ibus packages
from ppa:ubuntu-security-proposed/ppa

As regards the autopkgtest failures, please see comment #29.

Marked the disco bug task as "Won't Fix" since disco is EOL.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

IBus was broken for Qt applications as a regression due to the fix of
CVE-2019-14822. As a result the IBus patch was disabled temporarily,
which fixed IBus from a usability POV.

The real fix has been made in glib2.0, and the updates in -proposed
will allow the IBus patch to be re-enabled.

  [Test Case]

   * On a standard Ubuntu {eoan,disco,bionic,xenial} installation
     - Upgrade the glib2.0 packages from
   {eoan,disco,bionic,xenial}-proposed
     - Upgrade the ibus packages from
   https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security-proposed/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
     - Install some IBus input method, e.g. ibus-libpinyin
     - Install some Qt application, e.g. Kate

  * Relogin (maybe reboot)

  * Add the input method to the input sources

  * Open the Qt app and try to input something using the IBus IM

=> Find that the transliteration works as expected

  [Regression Potential]

The applicable patches origin from glib upstream:
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/merge_requests/1176
Consequently the changes have been reviewed by the glib maintainer, but also
tested by the IBus maintainer, by me (gunnarhj), and - of course - the author
Simon McVittie. The changes have been in Debian unstable since 2019-10-30.

  [Original description]

  Kubuntu Release 18.04.3 LTS

  Expected behavior:
ibus continues working as before after applying security update
1.5.17-ubuntu5.1 from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5.

  Observed behavior:
ibus is not usable anymore in Qt applications.

After updating ibus and the related packages ibus-gtk, ibus-gtk3,
libibus-1.0-5 and gir1.2-ibus-1.0 all from version 1.5.17-ubuntu5 to
1.5.17-ubuntu5.1, I can no longer use ibus in Qt applications. Using
shift-space no longer changes the selected input method and even when i switch
to the mozc input method in a gtk application, i can not use it in any Qt
applications.
When starting qtconfig in a terminal, I also get the following message:

  Bus::open: Connect ibus failed!
  IBusInputContext::createInputContext: no connection to ibus-daemon

This bug was not present in version 1.5.17-3ubuntu5 and I also
confirmed that downgrading the packages to version 1.5.17-3ubuntu4
restores ibus functionality in Qt applications.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1852016] Re: Applications delayed on launch

2020-03-07 Thread GH
Confirming this with KeePass-X on fresh 19.10 install on Lenovo e495.

Also confirming "3. (Permanent). Install "sudo apt-get install appmenu-
gtk2-module" and restart." fixed it.

  Applications delayed on launch

Bug description:
  Hello,

i am unsure if this is really a problem with dbus but my first

3.) I've expected just "normal" loading applications

4.) Some applications are delayed at startup. The application will
take around 30s to launch, but afterwards it just runs fine. Affected
application I found so far are KeepassXC, Filezilla and OnlyOffice
Desktop-Editor. From strace I saw this applications are stopping (for
  about 20-30s) at this point:

During my first research I found this following to topics related to the
issue:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1184774/some-applications-on-ubuntu-19-10-very-slow-to-start

This Stackoverflow topic links to the archlinux forum:
  https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230036

I can confirm that running the delayed applications with "dbus-launch
--exit-with-session application" or by running it as root they are all
  starting without any delay.

Thanks for your help! Let me know if you need any further information.

  Best Regards,
  Sebastian

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1018622] Re: [SB Live! Platinum CT4760P] No sound

2020-03-07 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
I'm really sorry this issue went unanswered for so long. The backlog
we've accrued here is truly unfortunate. We'd really like to see the
situation improve, but with nearly 1300 open bugs, manually testing each
has become virtually impossible. The aim in pinging neglected bugs such
as this is to allow those still effected to get their issue back on the
radar.

I'll leave the bug incomplete in case anyone else happens to know if
this is still relative.

Again, apologies for the radio silence.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1853709] Re: lightdm does not greet or present login prompt when resuming from laptop suspend

2020-03-07 Thread Vasco
I am also affected by this bug on xubuntu 19.10. One thing I noticed is
that there are two xfce4-screensaver-dialog processes when waking up
from suspending by closing the lid. When waking up after suspending via
other ways there is only one such process and things work properly.

Title:
lightdm does not greet or present login prompt when resuming from
  laptop suspend

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Expected result: when opening laptop lid the lock screen presents
itself so I can unlock my session

Actual result: the contents of my desktop are visible (windows, etc)
and I can move my mouse cursor around but I cannot interact with the
desktop session at all. Hovering over UI elements or clicking them has
  no effect.

In order to get the login prompt I have to ctrl+alt+f1, login at the
console, and run sudo systemctl restart lightdm, then I can login
normally and resume whatever I was doing from before I closed the
  laptop lid.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1866314] Re: apt-get update fails on ppc64le virtual machine

2020-03-07 Thread Chris Ward
I tried this on another x86-64 machine, and the apt-get update and apt-
get upgrade commands are running normally. I will have access to the
machine which failed again on Monday; I will look in /var/crash then.

Title:
apport-collect won't submit updates to a bug assigned to a source
package when only a binary package of another name from that source is
  installed

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
When you run "apport-collect " on a bug filed against
  xorg-server, apport-collect just errors out:

Package xorg-server not installed and no hook available, ignoring
   No additional information collected.

See bug #576621 as an example.

  Similarly,

  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+filebug#form-
  start

gives the following advice for filing bugs:

  xorg-server (Ubuntu) guidelines:
Please report bugs against xorg-server with this command:
    $ ubuntu-bug -p xorg-server

Since xorg-server is a source package, ubuntu-bug says the package
doesn't exist. I'm not sure of the intended design, so I'm not sure
if this is bad advice, a launchpad problem, or an ubuntu-bug problem.

This is in a slightly different part of the code and although the

  These bugs shouldn't be duped.

Hi, I run Ubuntu 20.04 (Gnome Shell) development version.

Since I made the updates on 5th March, I have no more mouse cursor
visible, on the login screen nor on the desktop session.

Mouse is OK, as if I move it I can see some items / buttons
highlighted, and if I click the mouse, it works well. I tried Yaru and
DMZ Black themes, no cursor, it's completely invisible.

I started several times, always no cursor. But if I switch to the Xorg
(X11) session, mouse cursor is well back and visible.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1866444] Re: [MacBook2, 1, SigmaTel STAC9221 A1, Mic, Internal] Recording problem

2020-03-07 Thread Chinarut
ok - good news - I was able to repair my 32-bit 18.04.4 install on the
*same* exact hardware and confirmed I am able to see (1) Microphone and
(2) bars moving (see screenshot)

NOTE: my Unity desktop is corrupt on my 32-bit instance so what you are
seeing is Volume Control from XCFE.

again, I want to be clear that this bug report is in regards to my
*64-bit* Ubuntu install not listing two inputs (microphone and line in)
in Settings.

the purpose of this followup is to demonstrate it is not a hardware
issue. my 32-bit Ubuntu instance on the same hardware is able to access
the internal microphone.

Title:
[MacBook2,1, SigmaTel STAC9221 A1, Mic, Internal] Recording problem

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  What you expected to happen

Settings -> Sound -> Input to list internal mic (to test orange bars
  for recording from internal mic)

  What actually happened

Settings -> Sound -> Input only lists "Digital Input (S/PDIF)" (no
bars move because no digital input connected)

If possible, a minimal series of steps necessary to make it happen,
where step 1 is "start the program"

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select Sound setting
  3. Select Input tab

  --

NOTE: ultimately, I want recording to work in apps such as Chrome,
  Firefox, Zoom, etc.

NOTE 2: mic recording was last working in Ubuntu 18.04.x (32-bit)
instance on *same* MacBook hardware (this installation went corrupt so
I can't reverify it still works unfortunately - I will add to this
issue if I get the cycles to reinstall or at your request)

NOTE 3: interestingly enough, while using "ubuntu-bug" it was able to
record from the mic on the 1st (of 2 tests the bug collector
  initiated).
