[Touch-packages] [Bug 1895387] Re: Video playback freezes for 1 sec again and again
Please tell us which apps are affected. Please also help us to identify the cause by opening two Terminal windows. In the first window please run 'top' so you can see high CPU users. In the second window please run 'journalctl -f' so you can see new log messages. Now reproduce the bug again and tell us what you see in those terminal windows while the bug is happening. ** Summary changed: - Xorg freeze + Video playback freezes for 1 sec again and again ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895387 Title: Video playback freezes for 1 sec again and again Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: while playing video both online and offline it freezes for 1 sec again and again. i restarted the system many times but it didn't work. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1895422] Re: Sound card not detected on Dell Latitude 9510 (Realtek ALC711)
Update: I was able to get the speakers to make sound by installing linux-oem and by allowing updates from focal-proposed. As expected, alsamixer now shows a lot of options. There are still a few issues: 1) The audio is stuttery, most playback is too fast (e.g. YouTube or MP3s), and other playback doesn't work at all (e.g. Zoom). 2) The microphone is not detected. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1895454] Re: ibus indicator is unreadable, and the dropdown doesn't clarify what option is selected
It can also be that the desktop environment you are using was designed with an "idiotic" background color, right? Anyway, the icon color can be changed: gsettings set org.freedesktop.ibus.panel xkb-icon-rgba '#ff' ** Changed in: ibus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ibus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895454 Title: ibus indicator is unreadable, and the dropdown doesn't clarify what option is selected Status in ibus package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I don't know exactly what iBus is and what it does, but it has this indicator on the bottom-right corner of the screen (whatever that area is called) which shows what the currently selected input language is, whatever that means. For example, on my system there are two choices available: "Spanish - Spanish" and "English - English (US)", and therefore the indicator shows either "ES" or "EN" depending on which one is selected. Whatever the effect of that is. The issue is, this indicator is designed with an idiotic choice of colours: a very dark blue text on a very dark gray background, which makes it mostly unreadable. I am not color blind nor visually impaired, yet both colors are almost undistinguishable to me, and it costs me a great effort to tell whether it says "EN" or "ES". Additionally, adding to the idiocy, if I click on it to see which one is actually selected, a dropdown unfolds where the two options are listed, and the currently selected one is not highlighted in any way!! It seems that the selected one is always shown first, which, assuming it's true, I can only learn by changing the selection back and forth, when it could have been as easy as showing the currently selected one in bold. It looks as if every single possible step had been purposefully taken to make this less useful, because even by doing it carelessly and without putting any thought into it, it's unlikely that it could turn out so ridiculously badly designed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1895454] [NEW] ibus indicator is unreadable, and the dropdown doesn't clarify what option is selected
Public bug reported: I don't know exactly what iBus is and what it does, but it has this indicator on the bottom-right corner of the screen (whatever that area is called) which shows what the currently selected input language is, whatever that means. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1878194] Re: [Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC] Bluetooth headset not working when selecting HSP/HFP audio profile in Focal Fossa
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1871794 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871794 Don't know if that can help but i moved to 5.8.1 kernel . It works well with my previous workaround : remove ibt- * from /lib/firmware/intel then copy all ibt-* from linux-firmware_1.183.2_all.deb It works fine until an apt-upgrade installs the new latest linux- firmware 1.187.3 . With Ubuntu 19.10 the headset was working, there was audio and the mic was perfect for video conferencing. [Steps to reproduce] 1. Connect headset (used blueman to setup and connect) 1.1. When connected the system automatically selects A2DP profile 2. Start playing audio (browser or other) 3. Change profile to HSP/HFP with pavucontrol (or blueman) 4. The audio disappears and microphone is not working (no input) 5. Optionally switch back to A2DP and the audio comes back [Expected] When switching to HSP/HFP the audio should keep playing and the microphone should start working [Notes] I tried with pavucontrol to switch between profiles while playing audio from a browser. As side note there's a led in the headset that still blinks when switching profile. I tried deleting the pulse folder under user's profile .config without success, also reinstalled packages and did a `sudo alsa force-reload` and rebooting several times. Note: not sure this is a duplicate of [Bug #1576559], it looks quite different since the profile changes but the headset stops working. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1835660] Re: initramfs unpacking failed
Applied the 'fix' from Comment #11 by vmc(vmclark) in Linux Mint 20. The error is no longer logged. Some boots on my HP laptop with a 5400RPM spinning Hard drive are slow but some are faster but some around the same time with lz4. Hard disk performance on my laptop is better with gzip than lz4. With lz4 the PC extremely lags when some apt packages are being set up and configured and some final configurations after most or all packages are installed, set up and configured but with gzip, the lag never occurs and PC is usable. Hard disk read benchmarks are better with gzip than with lz4. I think that lz4 is more suitable for an SSD than a spinning hard drive -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to initramfs-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1835660 Title: initramfs unpacking failed Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: "initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed", message appears on boot up. If I "update-initramfs" using gzip instead of lz, then boot up passes without decoding failed message. --- However, we currently believe that the decoding error reported in dmesg is actually harmless and has no impact on usability on the system. Switching from lz4 to gzip compression, simply papers over the warning, without any benefits, and slows down boot. Kernel should be fixed to correctly parse lz4 compressed initrds, or at least lower the warning, to not be user visible as an error. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1610944] Re: GNOME Online Accounts breaks if you log out (until you reboot)
Arch user here. Haven't had the problem on Debian-based distros, but Arch and Fedora still seems to be affected. ** Also affects: gnome-online-accounts (Arch Linux) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gnome-online-accounts in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610944 Title: GNOME Online Accounts breaks if you log out (until you reboot) Status in gnome-online-accounts: Confirmed Status in Ubuntu GNOME: Fix Released Status in gnome-online-accounts package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-online-accounts source package in Yakkety: Won't Fix Status in gnome-session source package in Yakkety: Won't Fix Status in gnome-online-accounts source package in Zesty: Won't Fix Status in gnome-session source package in Zesty: Won't Fix Status in gnome-online-accounts package in Arch Linux: New Bug description: Impact == After logging out, GNOME Online Accounts doesn't work the next time you log in. This bug was a Release Blocker for Fedora 26. (Fedora 26 will be released in July). gnome-session is the only package updated in this update (not gnome- online-accounts). Test Case = From Ubuntu GNOME, click Settings>Online Accounts and add your Google account. Install Evolution if it's not installed. Verified that your Google account has synced. Log out. Log in. It may help to reproduce the bug log in to a different session (GNOME on Wayland instead of GNOME, or the other way around). Open Evolution. Verify that no errors are reported and that your Google account is still syncing. After installing the gnome-session update, I recommend rebooting once to clear any old lingering GNOME Online Accounts processes from previous sessions. Regression Potential This fix is the same as was accepted into Fedora 26. It is a workaround by killing all the user's D-Bus sessions when the user logs out. This fix has been backported from gnome-session 3.25.3. It has not been applied to the 3.24 git branch upstream. Since 16.10 has almost reached its end of life (July), I am not proposing this fix there. I believe 16.10 is the first release affected since Ubuntu moved many more services to systemd user sessions in that release. The patch tries to only kill the D-Bus sessions if the session being logged out is the final remaining session for the user. The workaround makes sense to me. It seems similar to the KillUserProcesses option that was pushed into systemd to fix this kind of problem but it's more limited than the systemd method so hopefully it won't be as controversial. Original Bug Report === Can't add any online accounts in after opened Online accounts + mark is faded, can't click. After reinstalled gnome-online-accounts still has same problem.
