[Touch-packages] [Bug 1909612] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in
Hi Chris, I see your point but would counter that having the option ticked for 'Suspend when laptop lid is closed' and not having it do that when an external monitor is plugged in is more a bug than a feature. I agree that this is actually a feature some users may want but this should be something which can be controlled by the user via a toggle with the default behaviour being consistent with lid closed = suspend regardless of whether there is a monitor plugged in or not. If having a mouse plugged in prevented the laptop from suspending with the lid closed, this would certainly be a bug. Thanks for your response. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909612 Title: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I wish to have my laptop suspend when plugged into my dock with an HDMI display added. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1909612] Re: Closing laptop lid doesn't suspend with external monitor plugged in
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 I can imagine many users using an external monitor and expecting their system to continue operation as they watch movie on external monitor, or work using external/dock keyboard, and being annoyed if their system suspended on lid closure. I personally see your issue as a support one, as not everyone will want the lid closure to suspend laptop. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1881893] Re: Gtk3 crashes, icon "image-missing" not in theme Symbolic
This is a packaging issue. The icon for "missing", which is in package gnome-icon-theme, MUST be installed with GTK. The icon for "missing" is the fallback icon for GTK whenever it can't find an icon. If GTK package does not depend on gnome-icon-theme, then GTK will crash when it needs the icon for "missing." ** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-icon-theme (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gnome-icon-theme in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881893 Title: Gtk3 crashes, icon "image-missing" not in theme Symbolic Status in gnome-icon-theme package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Context: Ubuntu 19.04. Gimp continues to run (since plugin is separate process.) See the issue filed against Gimp: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/2029. That report is on Gimp in Ubuntu 18.04. Still present with the latest Gimp (built myself) on Ubuntu19.04. Installing the package gnome-icon-theme fixes the issue. As reported in Gimp #2029 It might be a packaging issue: a missing dependency of the gtk3 package on package gnome-icon-theme. Since package Gtk3 can crash unless gnome-icon-theme is also installed. Probably it is a weakness of Gtk3, and would best be fixed there. I.E. its a circularity issue: Gtk3 should not depend on an "image-missing" icon being in a theme to resolve the problem of an icon missing from the theme. Or the Gtk3 developers have failed to convey a dependency to distributors like Ubuntu. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1871268] Re: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected
** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Assignee: Deva Venga (devaone) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871268 Title: Installation fails due to useless immediate configuration error when "Install Third-Party Drivers" is selected Status in Ubuntu CD Images: Fix Released Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Bionic: Confirmed Status in apt source package in Focal: Triaged Status in apt source package in Groovy: Triaged Status in apt package in Debian: Unknown Bug description: [Impact] Installations that really succeeded would then fail because APT could not immediately configure a package. Which is a pointless way to fail at that point, because everything did work out anyway. So what we do is change that to a warning. [Test case] Not available right now. Issues can flare up and then disappear again. [Regression potential] It's imaginable that we missed something somewhere and some path that checked for a set error doesn't check it anymore, and we report success when we hit an error, but it seems unlikely. Behavior of --simulate changes. This used to fail before as well, and will now only produce a warning. We don't believe that is a reason of concern. [Groovy SRU] The groovy SRU is a sync of the 2.1.11 micro release from Debian unstable which also incorporates changes to the documentation: A typo fix, replacing focal with groovy in examples, and minor Dutch manual pages translation updates. We do not have test cases for the documentation changes, and we do not consider there to be a huge regression potential. As long as they build, they should be readable - maybe some words are wrong in the translation, who knows. [Original bug report] Test Case 1.
