This happens by checking the 'systemctl start network-online.target' command, in turn executing the 'nm-online -s -q' util (via NetworkManager-wait-online.service), in addition to systemd-networkd-wait-online.service (which seems to be working OK). nm-online does not return successfully anymore as of 1.32.2-0ubuntu1, but it times out. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1934783] Re: Graphical glitches with Mesa 21.0.3 on AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
I used the hirsute LiveCD again and it has mesa 21.0.1. I refreshed apt but there wasn't any update of mesa. So I enabled hirsute-proposed and upgraded mesa to 21.0.3. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1906741] Re: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio
Once I discovered the connection with speech-dispatcher on my system (as noted above), I did some related searches and found a reddit article (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/7n5vn6/linux_firefox_and_speechdispatcher_are_making/) related to this that indicates if you disable both the webspeech option and the reader it solves it: reader.parse-on-load.enabled false media.webspeech.synth.enabled false And this also seems to be a duplicate (or at least related) bug report to this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/speech-dispatcher/+bug/1821439 And other variants of Linux are reporting Firefox speech-dispatcher issues as well: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1936901 I had previously experimented with only the webspeech option, to no avail, but I have now disabled both the webspeech option and the reader on mine. So far, I haven't had any issues with garbled sound since, but only time will tell. I suppose it would still be an issue for those who need text-to-speech support on their system and can't disable these things. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1936901 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1936901 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1906741 Title: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Opening certain applications/websites at the same time as Firefox causes the audio to become garbled. Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apparmor source package in Hirsute: Fix Released Status in apparmor source package in Impish: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Any application that requires access to X11 sockets for the Display may want to include abstractions/X in the AppArmor rules, which usually will include rules that we would want for access to the Display socket for X. However, an upstream regression was made by changes to the abstractions/X to remove the 'w' and leave it read only. This doesn't work - X11 needs readwrite on the sockets for it to properly interact with X11. This is a fundamental regression that has been fixed upstream. [Test Plan] Any application that needs X11 integration with apparmor rules should `#include ` This is the problem with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/torbrowser- launcher/+bug/1933886 - while the fix for that would be to add `#include ` in the ruleset, it will not function with the existing abstractions. This is our test case in Impish: - add `#include ` into `/etc/apparmor.d/torbrowser.Browser.firefox` and the apparmor rule. - `sudo systemctl restart apparmor.service` - Attempt to run torbrowser with torbrowser-launcher, which should now properly work with the revisions. Without, torbrowser-launcher 'starts' Tor Browser but then it just segfaults and stops running. We don't have a full test case for Hirsute at this time. [Where problems could occur] Based on my understanding of X11 and the upstream AppArmor bugs on this (refer to comments), there is no breakage introduced by this, in fact the breakage was already introduced upstream, so this simply fixes and removes the breakage when an apparmor rule includes these X abstractions and need to write to the socket but can't. Therefore, I don't believe there are any 'problems' that can occur with this change. [Original Description] In Focal, abstractions/X has the following section in it: # the unix socket to use to connect to the display /tmp/.X11-unix/* rw, unix (connect, receive, send) type=stream peer=(addr="@/tmp/.X11-unix/X[0-9]*"), unix (connect, receive, send) type=stream peer=(addr="@/tmp/.ICE-unix/[0-9]*"), However, in Impish, this seems to have changed: # the unix socket to use to connect to the display /tmp/.X11-unix/* r, unix (connect, receive, send) type=stream peer=(addr="@/tmp/.X11-unix/X[0-9]*"), unix (connect, receive, send) type=stream peer=(addr="@/tmp/.ICE-unix/[0-9]*"), This in turn breaks torbrowser-launcher's Firefox from launching, even if we include the X abstractions, because the display sockets in /tmp/.X11-unix/* (X0 for Display :0 for example) are not read/write. This looks like a MAJOR regression by removing the permissions. Or has Impish apparmor not been updated for any Ubuntu specific changes? This bug was fixed in the package apparmor - 3.0.0-0ubuntu7.1 --- apparmor (3.0.0-0ubuntu7.1) hirsute; urgency=medium * Make X11 socket writable again (LP: #1934005): - d/p/ubuntu/lp1934005.patch * Fix i18n.sh regression test on arm64 (LP: #1932331): - d/p/ubuntu/lp1932331.patc Thanks to Georgia Garcia for the patch. -- Thomas Ward Wed, 30 Jun 2021 17:42:41 -0400 ** Changed in: apparmor (Ubuntu Hirsute) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1934005 Title: abstractions/X: Possible regression of X session functionality by removing 'w' from /tmp/.X11-unix/* line? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1935617] Re: systemd autopkgtest broken on ppc64el with qemu 6.0
Still the systemd tests are very flaky. I went through some re-runs and these last 7 tests all did test the very same packages. impish amd64 boot-and-services (F 14% f 0% S 0% B 0% => P 85%/) ...F... systemd-fsckd (F 0% f 0% S 100% B 0% => P 0%/) SSS upstream-1 (F 42% f 0% S 0% B 0% => P 57%/) FFF upstream-2 (F 14% f 0% S 0% B 0% => P 85%/) F.. We see that the last three all were happy. But formerly without any reason other than being flaky one (upstream-1) or the other (upstream-2) or another (boot-and-services) failed. If only we could re-trigger subtests only that would be much less wasted test-time :-/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935617 Title: systemd autopkgtest broken on ppc64el with qemu 6.0 Status in The Ubuntu-power-systems project: Fix Released Status in qemu package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I'm not sure yet if this is flaky or a real issue, but I'm filing it to avoid multiple people analyzing the same. For an insight in flakyness/reproducibility I've retriggered the missing qemu and the non-qemu cases a few times. If those reproduce all-bad vs all-good again this would further indicate a real issue. Unfortunately the ppc maas seems down right now and canonistack also isn't too nice this week - overall that inhibits the testing a bit :-/ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-power-systems/+bug/1935617/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1936312] [NEW] nm-online times out, failing autopkgtests
Public bug reported: The nm-online util does not return successfully as of 1.32.2-0ubuntu1 (currently in impish-proposed). systemd VS network-manager autopkgtests (in LXD) fail, because the autopkgtest-virt-lxd runner tries to wait for "network ready" before it is reconnecting after a reboot. That is a regression compared to v1.30. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1936299] Re: ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS apt update "Unknown error executing apt-key"
Make sure that _apt user can read all files in /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d and /etc/apt/trusted.gpg and any key files you might have specified via signed-by in sources.list. By disabling the sandboxing, it makes it easier for an attacker that controls the http server to make use of vulnerabilities in the HTTP, TLS, GPG stacks as they process this untrusted data as root instead of an unprivileged user (ok, there is another APT-specific escape hatch in the sandbox that also needs fixing, but still, improves security somewhat). ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1936299 Title: ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS apt update "Unknown error executing apt-key" Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I have some machines AWS with Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS but unable to update the repository on servers. All servers are on AWS and facing the same issue on multiple servers. unable to update server. I have spent many days troubleshooting this issue. but did not find a solution. but at Last, i got this command echo 'APT::Sandbox::User "root";' >/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00temp it works and now i can update repository. Q.1 Why I have to run this command? anyone knows the exact reason behind this. Q.2 Is this a type of security hole? ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bionic dist-upgrade patch upgrade-software-version ** Tags added: dist-upgrade patch upgrade-software-version ** Tags added: bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1936299 Title: ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS apt update "Unknown error executing apt-key" Status in apt package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have some machines AWS with Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS but unable to update the repository on servers. ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577926 Title: apt-key works fine, yet apt fails with "Could not execute 'apt-key'" Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Apt can fail to verify a Release file which verifies just fine when calling apt-key directly. Please advise how i can supply further debug information to help fix the underlying bug. Expected: apt-get should only report that a repository is not signed when no such signature was found. If a signature was in fact successfully acquired but not verified, apt-get should report failure to verify instead. apt-get should have a meaningful error message when calling apt-key fails. Bonus: Calling apt-key should not fail when the same thing works fine on command line. A reference to "Debug::Acquire::gpgv" should be in apt-secure(8) documentation. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1928393] Re: linux-firmware 1.197 causes kernel to report error "amdgpu: [gfxhub0] retry page fault"

When this happens, I see this error in dmesg: [20061.061069] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: [gfxhub0] retry page fault (src_id:0 ring:0 vmid:1 pasid:32769, for process Xorg pid 1141 thread Xorg:cs0 pid 1236) [20061.061103] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: in page starting at address 0x80401000 from client 27 [20061.061135] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: VM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT_STATUS:0x00101031 [20061.061147] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: Faulty UTCL2 client ID: TCP (0x8) [20061.061157] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: MORE_FAULTS: 0x1 [20061.061167] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: WALKER_ERROR: 0x0 [20061.061174] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: PERMISSION_FAULTS: 0x3 [20061.061183] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: MAPPING_ERROR: 0x0 [20061.061189] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: RW: 0x0 I'll attach a couple of full dmesgs that I collected. Many of the times when this happens, the screen and keyboard freeze irreversibly (I tried waiting for more than 30 minutes, but it doesn't help). I can still log in via ssh though. When there's no freeze, I can continue using the computer normally, but the laptop fans keep running are always running and the battery depletes fast. There's probably something on a permanent loop either in the kernel or in the GPU. This bug happens several times a day, rendering the machine so unstable as to be almost unusable. It is a severe regression and I'm aghast that it passed AMD's Quality Assurance. After downgrading back to linux-firmware 1.190.5, the machine is back to the previous, mostly-reliable state. Which is to say, this bug is gone, I'm just left with the other amdgpu suspend bug I've learned to live with since I bought this computer. Please revert the amdgpu firmware in this package as soon as possible. This is unbearable.
