Actually nvidia's EGL backend is being loaded by glvnd in this case.
But the eglReleaseThread() implementation of glvnd calls the

calling the eglReleaseThread() API of Mesa backend. Refer:

Bug description:
When I connect a Bluetooth device, sound is automatically forwarded to
the device but volume controls still control the internal sound card
device. I must open the sound settings and click on the Bluetooth
output device to use volume controls.

I wish that the volume controls would automatically control whatever
output device is actually active. :)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1947494] Re: Xorg crash

2021-10-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

Title:
Windows always open across monitors in a multi-monitor setup

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I have a laptop (Dell XPS 13 9300) connected to an external USB-C monitor
(Dell U2719DC).
Ubuntu 21.10 Impish is installed, although this problem existed under Ubuntu
21.04 too.

If I log in using Wayland (the default), the initial window position
of any app is always in the middle (half on the internal display and
half on the external monitor). No setting that I have found appears to
be able to change this behavior.

If I switch to Xorg, this problem does not exist. With Xorg, the app
window always opens on the primary monitor (the external one, in my
case). This is the preferred behavior.

Title:
[HP OMEN 846A] Display backlight and brightness controls are not
  working

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-470 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The screen brightness is stuck at 50% of the max output and the
brightness controls/slider do nothing at all.

This issue started happening with the nvidia-driver-470 package even
before I upgraded from 21.04, and it doesn't happen with 460. The bug
manifests in both X11 and Wayland. (and GDM itself before logging in)

Setting nvidia-drm.modeset to 1 doesn't seem to affect it either.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1603715] Re: [Dell DW375] bluetooth unavailable after rfkill hard (or soft) unblocking and after suspend/resume

Title:
[Dell DW375] bluetooth unavailable after rfkill hard (or soft)
  unblocking and after suspend/resume

Status in Bluez Utilities:
  Fix Released
Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
DELL Latitude E5510 has a hardware switch to disable and enable
bluetooth and wifi devices ("hard blocking" in terms of rfkill). In
terms of wifi, this works great: After hard unblocking, the device
resumes back to normal operation without any manual intervention. That
was also working with bluetooth as of ubuntu 14.04, kernel 4.2.

In ubuntu 16.04, kernel 4.4.0-31-generic, together with systemd, this
  is not working any more:

  After hard blocking and unblocking

  - bluetooth is not working at all
  - the applet-indicator remains gray
  - bluetooth cannot be enabled with the applet-indicator (see
https://storage6.static.itmages.com/i/16/0717/h_1468721829_7715160_83cd33bfba.png).
 Applet-indicator remains gray
  - rfkill list tells me that the kernel knows about the hard unblocking (turns
from "yes" to "no"):
  rfkill list bluetooth
  2: dell-bluetooth: Bluetooth
   Soft blocked: no
   Hard blocked: no
  8: hci0: Bluetooth
   Soft blocked: no
   Hard blocked: no

  The device is a
  sudo lsusb
Bus 002 Device 010: ID 413c:8187 Dell Computer Corp. DW375 Bluetooth Module

  Workaround: After a

  sudo service bluetooth restart

the bluetooth device turns back to normal operation and the applet-
indicator turns from gray to black (available).

Suggested fix: Make the workaround obsolete.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1931024] Re: BOOT fails on UEFI with 100MB initrd.img [Dell XPS 9550]

2021-10-17 Thread TJ
I'm currently working on getting my optimisation patches into the
mainline kernel and to Debian's initramfs-tools. After that I'll
investigate dracut.

Title:
BOOT fails on UEFI with 100MB initrd.img [Dell XPS 9550]

Status in initramfs-tools package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I've been working with a user for the last 2 days on a failure to even
start the kernel when installing 20.04 or 21.04 (possibly other
  releases) with a UEFI boot.

System is Dell XPS 9550 amd64 with Ubuntu Budgie.

The symptom is that after GRUB successfully loads the kernel into RAM,
it fails to return from loading the initrd into RAM. This was proved
by adding guard 'echo' and 'sleep' around each stage n grub.cfg.

After much investigation since this seemed initially related to a LUKS
install I noticed the initrd.img files generated with MODULES=most are
105MB. Most of that is unneeded firmware and other files so I changed
  to MODULES=dep. Resulting initrd.img's are around 55MB.

  System then boots correctly.

This looks like a possible issue with the UEFI on these XPS models but
as initrd.img sizes get ridiculously large this is likely to hit more
  systems and users.

For several years I carry optimisation patches to initramfs-tools that
don't add most firmwares except those specifically required (certainly
not adding AMD GPU firmware when system has only Intel or Nvidia GPUs
  - and visa versa)

My initrd.img's are a hybrid of MODULES=dep and result in less than

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1947487] [NEW] Icons not seen in dock when background colour changed using dconf editor

2021-10-17 Thread Amogh Gurudatta
Public bug reported:

When I changed the background colour of the dock using dconf editor, all
the icons disappeared and a blank dock was left. I recently upgraded
from 21.04 to 21.10. When I reset dock settings in the dconf editor with
'dconf reset -f /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock/' command, it
works again with default settings. The current Xorg version installed is

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1947432] Re: Display backlight and brightness controls are not working

2021-10-17 Thread voodooattack
** Description changed:

The screen brightness is stuck at 50% of the max output and the
brightness controls/slider do nothing at all.

This issue started happening with the nvidia-driver-470 package even
- before I upgraded from 21.04, and it doesn't happen with 465. The bug
+ before I upgraded from 21.04, and it doesn't happen with 460. The bug
manifests in both X11 and Wayland. (and GDM itself before logging in)

Setting nvidia-drm.modeset to 1 doesn't seem to affect it either.
