[Touch-packages] [Bug 1991606] Re: Invalid PEP440 package version breaking setuptools >= 60

2023-02-18 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package update-manager - 1:23.04.1

---
update-manager (1:23.04.1) lunar; urgency=medium

  * Make Python version PEP440 compliant (LP: #1991606)
  * Switch to Debian source 3.0 (native)
  * Replace transitional policykit-1 by polkitd and pkexec
  * Fix pycodestyle complains by formatting Python code with black
  * Drop imports only needed for Python 2
  * Replace lsb_release call with reading /etc/os-release directly

Bug description:
With setuptools 66, the versions of all packages visible in the Python
  environment *must* obey PEP440 .
Otherwise, attempts to use pip to install a package with a setup.py-
based build system, or other attempts to use the `pkg-resources`
module, can produce errors like this:

  raise InvalidVersion(f"Invalid version: '{version}'")
  pkg_resources.extern.packaging.version.InvalidVersion: Invalid version:
'0.23ubuntu1'

The official opinion of the setuptools maintainers seems to be that
version strings of this form haven't *really* been allowed since about
2014, and distributions need to change their package version naming
scheme for Python packages they install, so that the resulting version
strings obey PEP440. See for example

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Marc Püschel
if you ask me, the current updates should not have been published,
apparently there are special cases, like mine, which were not considered
- can happen. Is also no reproach!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007756] [NEW] No display on ThinkPad USB 3.0 Pro Dock

2023-02-18 Thread udippel
Public bug reported:

I used to run my systems (lenovo Helix 2) via USB 3.0 Pro Docks; lid closed,
display only on the external monitors without problems, until bug [Bug 1871959]
Re: Crash with SIGABRT in _iris_batch_flush from iris_fence_flush() made the
DisplayLink unworkable.
Now, with this bug being squashed, it doesn't crash any longer, but simply
doesn't show anything; not even detecting the (various) monitors any longer
(System Settings).
To me, that's no progress (rather regress), since it used to work flawlessly
earlier.

$ ubuntu-bug mesa
dpkg-query: no packages found matching mesa

$ dpkg -l | grep mesa
shows a bunch of 22.2.5-0ubuntu0.1~22.04.1 packages.

$ xrandr
HDMI-{1|2} disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-1 is the display device that shows when connecting to the
mini-DP-connector in the tablet.

** Affects: mesa (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

When I click mei User and enter my passwd, the screen flickers and I get a
message:
Oh, no, something went wrong logout and try again
I do this 3-5 times but always with the same result.

  Now i switch to a console (Ctrl-Alt-F2)
Try to install the package manually
  sudo apt install yaru-theme-gnome-shell
reports a "not owned" file in /usr/share/themes/Yaru-dark/gnome-shell
I lock into this folder and found a file "gnome-shell.css.save".
After I removed this installation worked and I am able to log into the GUI.
That seems to fix problem 1, but not fully.
When I try to login imediatly after the system has booted I got the same
error as mentioned above.
Only when I wait a bit (~20sec) login is possible.
I belive that is some kind of timing problem

  Problem 2, More details:
when I start firefox I got a "garbed" window, so it seams that firefox wasn't
correctly installed. I will try to reinstall it later and report the result
(That's not so importent for me, because I don't use firefox often, I use
chrom).

Title:
hdmi audio not working after suspend to ram

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hello

  I installed a new Kubuntu 22.10 system on a Beelink GTR6 (AMD Ryzen 9
6900HX). Everything is running fine. Except that after a wakeup from a
suspend to RAM, there is no more Audio coming through the loudspeakers
in my HDMI monitor, although every widget, audio control etc still say
that audio is playing. I have not yet found any way to reactivate the
audio, except of a complete reboot of the system.

I am not sure, how to debug this. I have tried very many
recommendations from the net (to restart pipewire, wireplumber,
disconnect the HDMI device, open amixer, ...), but none worked.

  Thanks

  Michael

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Marc Püschel
when i run

# sudo update-initramfs -u

update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.19.0-32-generic
I: The initramfs will attempt to resume from /dev/nvme0n1p2
I: (UUID=960398a5-4f66-4d5c-bf25-e3e6389fa930)
I: Set the RESUME variable to override this.

my ssd is failing? On a "new" and relative new installed Ubuntu LTS?

"Not enough Memory" is my translation, i got a similar message in german

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Ah I do see ZSTD-compressed data is corrupt in the log, what do you see
when you run update-initramfs -u? Any errors? Does it work after running
that?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Julian Andres Klode
I cannot find any "Not Enough Memory" on codesearch.debian.net. I know
grub says "out of memory" and AFAIK doesn't ask you to press a key so
it's still not clear where you see an error, sorry. Are you sure the
message is absolutely identical character by character?

None of the syslog should be relevant here that's way later.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007747] [NEW] dist-upgrade package yaru-theme-gnome-shell could not installed

2023-02-18 Thread Günter Neiß
Public bug reported:

Sorry for my bad english, I am a german ;-)

Yesterday I do a dist-upgrade from 20.04. LTS to 22.04 LTS.
I do it with the gui "update management" or "Aktualisierungsverwaltung" in
german
During the process the following problems ocur:

1. During "package installation" a MessageBox pops up, with the following msg:
new yaru-theme-gnome-shell package pre-installation script subprocess returned
error exit status 1

2. During step "installing firefox snap" there is a second window over the
normal one (snap install) that "hangs"
After a while (~2min) I am able to abort this one (geting process hangs are You
like to kill it)

Problem 1, More details:
After the upgrade, the system boots right into the logon screen, but I am
unable to log in.
When I click mei User and enter my passwd, the screen flickers and I get a
message:
Oh, no, something went wrong logout and try again
I do this 3-5 times but always with the same result.

Now i switch to a console (Ctrl-Alt-F2)
Try to install the package manually
sudo apt install yaru-theme-gnome-shell
reports a "not owned" file in /usr/share/themes/Yaru-dark/gnome-shell
I lock into this folder and found a file "gnome-shell.css.save".
After I removed this installation worked and I am able to log into the GUI.
That seems to fix problem 1, but not fully.
When I try to login imediatly after the system has booted I got the same error
as mentioned above.
Only when I wait a bit (~20sec) login is possible.
I belive that is some kind of timing problem

Problem 2, More details:
when I start firefox I got a "garbed" window, so it seams that firefox wasn't
correctly installed. I will try to reinstall it later and report the result
(That's not so importent for me, because I don't use firefox often, I use
chrom).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Marc Püschel
so this is what i get when i try to install

# sudo apt-get install grub-efi-amd64-signed

Paketlisten werden gelesen… Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut… Fertig
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen… Fertig
grub-efi-amd64-signed ist schon die neueste Version
(1.187.3~22.04.1+2.06-2ubuntu14.1).
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 0 nicht aktualisiert.

Seems that i am already on the newest grub!

The first error means "Not Enough Memory, Please press any key" - you can
press any key (but you don't need) and it comes the "intramfs Failed:
ZSTD-compressed data ..." and then the Ubuntu Login screen comes up.

Please be patient with me, I'm new to Ubuntu and Launchpad and don't
  know much about it yet

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Please include the exact error messages and when they occur, as well as
the grub version.

Are you on the latest grub update already (ends in ubuntu14.1)? This
includes a lot of fixes for out of memory issues. If not try to upgrade
using apt install grub-efi-amd64-signed (apt upgrade might not yet
install it due to phasing) and see if that helps.

If you are and it worked before, thanks for letting us know. We are
aware of bugs (and fixes for them) in those memory fixes in 14.1 but
since those have been tested in lunar for weeks now with no report of
issues we decided to roll them out anyway as it fixes booting for the
majority and the follow-up patches carry additional regression risks if
we push them in without testing.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2007743] Re: intramfs Failed: ZSTD-compressed data

2023-02-18 Thread Steve Langasek
initramfs-tools-ubuntu-core is a package specific to the boot of Ubuntu
Core, so unrelated to your issue.

Reassigning to initramfs-tools, which is at least a package that you
have installed.

Why does your bug report title mention the use of zstd?

** Package changed: initramfs-tools-ubuntu-core (Ubuntu) => initramfs-
tools (Ubuntu)
