[Touch-packages] [Bug 2055804] [NEW] Choosing font

2024-03-02 Thread Islam Alshaikh إسلام الشيخ
Public bug reported:

Hello, I want to choosing best fonts from my collection in easy way.

 ~/.fonts$ find . -type f |wc -l
11196

I have +1 fonts, Arabic & English.

I can not comparing between fonts .

More than 50% of Arabic fonts are not working (some of them were worked
in 7.10).

There is not grouping or sorting by language , (I can see some sorting
in Open Office Writer - character ...)

Some system & applications hanging if I add all of them (8g ram + swap
16g)

I can not grouping them or selecting some of them to viewing & others to
hide in easy way !.

I can not know wich of them are working & wich are not working to
removing or fixing !.

Some Applications access to .fonts & change some of files (FireFox or
other?) , I know that by rsync files.

I can not view 0 as number , Not as O or o.

Some fonts can not displayed as before. I can not found package deb to
install all necessary package for Arabic fonts & English & Viewing 0.

Almost I use TrueType fonts were working in WindowsXP.

I need help.

Thank you

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2055455] Re: dnsmasq-base causes network device virbr0 to shut down

2024-03-02 Thread Box Noise
Your suggestion to limit bind will work for me.

I wasn't sure how to tell bind to not listen on an interface.
Bind defaults to:  listen-on { any; };

I modified /etc/bind/named.conf.options by adding the following line:
listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; 192.168.2/24; };

This should restrict bind to localhost and my main network, and should
prevent it from attaching to the virbr0 interface.

After installing the current version of dnsmasq (2.90-0ubuntu0.22.04.1)
and rebooting, it looks like everything is working properly now.

Thanks for all the help with this issue!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2055455] Re: dnsmasq-base causes network device virbr0 to shut down

2024-03-02 Thread Marc Deslauriers
So, it looks like you are running bind on this machine, and bind is
listening on port 53 UDP:

udp0  0 192.168.122.1:530.0.0.0:*
1521/named

The old dnsmasq would ignore the error when it couldn't bind to a port,
but the new dnsmasq will fail if the port is already used, which makes
sense.

Perhaps you need to configure bind to not listen on the 192.168.122.1
interface...

After reverting, the software starts as normal (and, as expected, there
is no error in the terminal).

Release:
Description: Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release: 22.04

I am not sure exactly which package contains the bug, because these 11
packages upgrade together. The specific version diffs are shown above.

One thing I noticed is that this seems to be a fairly large version
increase (mesa 23.0.4 --> 23.2.1). If I could get all of the package
versions between these two, then

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2055455] Re: dnsmasq-base causes network device virbr0 to shut down

Attached txt file for output of netstat command ... first with dnsmasq-
base v 2.90-0ubuntu0.22.04.1 and then with previous version 2.86-1.1

If I look at the output from the ifconfig command, the virbr0 device is listed
when v2.86-1.1 is used. The virbr0 device is not listed when rebooting with the
newer version (2.90-0ubuntu0.22.04.1) of dnsmasq-base

What's the contents of the /etc/dnsmasq.d directory?
There is a symbolic link in this dir: libvirt-daemon ->

sudo cat /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/libvirt-daemon

bind-interfaces
except-interface=virbr0

2024-03-02 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Out of curiosity, what is the contents of your /etc/dnsmasq.d directory?
Is there a symlink in there to /etc/dnsmasq.d-available/libvirt-daemon?
What is the contents of that file?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2055776] Re: After updating ubuntu, the network to which the subnet address is assigned does not become active in KVM.

2024-03-02 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for filing this bug, and the excellent analysis.

So it looks like the dnsmasq change was introduced here:
https://thekelleys.org.uk/gitweb/?p=dnsmasq.git;a=commit;h=744231d99505cdead314d13506b5ff8c44a13088

That was in response to this mailing list discussion:
https://lists.thekelleys.org.uk/pipermail/dnsmasq-discuss/2023q4/017333.html

I think we need to report this issue upstream, perhaps we can revert
that commit in the meantime.

Bug description:
  Upon upgrade from mantic to noble, my bare metal Edubuntu install
  removed the Universe repo from the installation and, therefore, did
  not upgrade any Edubuntu-specific packages. I suspect this was caused
  by the apt DEB-822 upgrade to the repo and not detecting the universe
  repo as required by the Edubuntu installation.

  As Edubuntu looks identical to Ubuntu Desktop in terms of installation
  on the surface due to it also being a GNOME desktop, I suspect an
  assumption may have been derived from this.

  Additionally, simply trying `add-apt-repository universe` was
  ineffective, so that might need some work as well.

  Will attach logs if I can find them, but please do advise what logs
  you need.

Title:
  Error activating XKB configs (After sleep mode)

Status in mate-common package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I have been getting this random error always when coming back from
  sleep mode.

  Random because it doesn't always pop-up at resume.

  Also half of the suggestions displayed in the error message does not
  seem to work so perhaps this problem is twofolds.

  Problem 1: error activating XKB
  Problem 2: update the "Please include" portion as it does not reflect the

Title:
  unable to add PPA by its sources.list line

Status in Software Properties:
  Confirmed
Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Have Ubuntu 23.10 installed
  2. Run

  ```
  sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv
E756285F30DB2B2BB35012E219BFCAF5168D33A9
  sudo add-apt-repository -y "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nrbrtx/vte/ubuntu
jammy main"
  sudo add-apt-repository -y "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nrbrtx/wnck/ubuntu
jammy main"
  ```

  Expected results:

  * key added, two repositories are added to the relevant *.list files
  at /etc/apt/sources.list.d/

  Actual results:

  * relevant *.list files at /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ are not created,
  having errors instead

  ```
  $ sudo add-apt-repository -y "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/nrbrtx/vte/ubuntu
  Description:
  This PPA contains VTE library from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS which is not affected by
stupid bug https://pad.lv/1922276 . So user will be able to select all terminal
output with full scroll-back in MATE Terminal and other VTE-based terminals as
it is expected.
  This PPA is useful for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Debian 11 (bullseye) and
  Debian 12 (bookworm).
  As usual one can always remove this PPA and downgrade VTE packages by using
`sudo apt-get install ppa-purge` and `sudo ppa-purge ppa:nrbrtx/vte`.
