[Touch-packages] [Bug 1539046] [NEW] libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied

2016-01-28 Thread Ales
Public bug reported:

After some update (unfortunately I'm not sure what) if I try to play a
videofile (e.g. mpv movie.mkv) I get this error:

libGL error: failed to open drm device: Permission denied

I think from this message is not very clear why is that.

I figured out I was not in "video" group: "id user_name"

I had to do this: "usermod -aG video user_name " and then restart X
(logout, login). After that it works again.

So I suspect there is some problem there. Why libGL cannot be used
without membership in video group or why a regular user is not in video
group.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1525721] Re: Can't use hardware decoding (vaapi) with fglrx: Assertion `buffers' failed

2016-01-11 Thread Ales
Thank you for your replay. After BIOS update:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
says:

   M74 Ver. 01.16

Unfortunately no improvement, it doesn't work anyway. The only change
is, that mpv doesn't give "SIGABRT" but "Aborted".

Whole message:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1531439] [NEW] Freeze after kernel upgrade to 4.0.23

2016-01-06 Thread Ales
Public bug reported:

After the recent kernel upgrade 2.4.0-23 the computer freezes (see the
screenshot) and I'm not able to login neither into a graphic mode nor
the text console.

When I try previous kernel 4.2.0-22 the result is the same even if it
worked before.

When I go to the recovery mode (Grub menu > Advanced options > Linux
4.2.0-23-generic (recovery mode)) and just select "Resume normal boot"
it boots as normal and I can login into KDE. But I guess it is in some
non accelerated graphics mode.

Title:
Freeze after kernel upgrade to 4.0.23

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After the recent kernel upgrade 2.4.0-23 the computer freezes (see the
screenshot) and I'm not able to login neither into a graphic mode nor
  the text console.

When I try previous kernel 4.2.0-22 the result is the same even if it
  worked before.

When I go to the recovery mode (Grub menu > Advanced options > Linux
4.2.0-23-generic (recovery mode)) and just select "Resume normal boot"
it boots as normal and I can login into KDE. But I guess it is in some
  non accelerated graphics mode.

I seems to me that this setting is ignored and hardware decoding is tried on

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1479596] Re: Cannot Run AMD Catalyst Control Center

2015-10-31 Thread Ales
I have a similar issue after clean install of Kubuntu 15.10. No matter
if I use fglrx or fglrx-updates when trying to launching amdcccle I get
this: "There was a problem initilizing Catalyst Control Center Linux
edition". I used the Driver manager to install these drivers. I have a
HP ProBook 450 with a hybrid graphic. Now I cant switch to dedicated GA.
There were no such problems in previous 15.04.

Title:
Cannot Run AMD Catalyst Control Center

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I upgraded from Xubunti 14.10 to 15.04. After the upgrade, my system
had fglrx and fglrx-core installed. I had to manually install flgrx-
  andcccle.

When I tried to run amdcccle from the terminal the cursor moved down
one line and nothing else happened. No error messages.

I rebooted, and the problem was the same. So I purged the fglrx
packages, rebooted and installed frlrx-updates versions.

Now, when I run pkexec amdcccle, I get an Initialization error that
  reads:

There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux
edition. It could be caused by the following.

No AMD graphics driver is installed or the AMD driver is not
  functioning properly.

Please install the AMD driver appropriate for you AMD hardware, or
  configure using aticonfig.

When I run sudo aticonfig --initial --adapter=all

  I get this error:

Unable to open /etc/ati/control, please reinstall the driver.
  aticonfig: No supported adapters detected

[Touch-packages] [Bug 56125] Re: apt-get moo doesn't look like a cow

Ubuntu developers should make sure, that they understand a difference between
Super Cow and Handycapped Cow. If they want to preserve the actual cow, they
should change the string about apt and cow in this proposed way `This APT has
Handycapped Cow Powers!`. Poor cow
