  Preview widgets with state lose state when device rotation triggers a
  change in the number of preview widget columns

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  There's a few preview widgets that have state (i.e. when adding text
  to a new comment, or when doing an inline video preview), that state
  will get lost if changing the orientation of the device gets us more
  or less columns since old preview widgets will be deleted and new ones
  will be created.

  We need either a way to reuse the preview widgets (probably hard) or a
  way to save/restore the information on destroy/creation.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1606554] Re: preview scrollable needs flick velocity tuning

2016-07-26 Thread Andrea Cimitan
@kevin on qt (for now) the flickable flick velocity is set at 2500
pixels/second from the old days of 120DPI screens... so that's quite
fast by default on krillin is like few full screens a second... on arale
you see maximum a single screen scrolling vertically per second.

We work around that by setting custom flick speed, but I don't think we
do for preview pages in dash

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1536814] Re: thumbnailer called with wrong width in scope preview

2016-01-22 Thread Andrea Cimitan
The x3 size request is because the widget allows zooming, so you need a
bigger image that has more details, not a bug. HOWEVER, you made me
realise that if the zoomable property of the widget is set to false we
don't need to request a x3 size, so I'll add a branch to request bigger
images ONLY when they are zoomable.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1457098] [NEW] Expanded indicators are not visible in direct sunlight

indicator, maybe a different color, and increase the opacity of the
other indicators, or just make them white.

Bug description:
  If I change the WEATHER_TEMPLATE in the scopes example to:

  const static string WEATHER_TEMPLATE =

  "schema-version": 1,
  "template": {
  "category-layout": "carousel",

  "subtitle": "subtitle",
  "summary": "summary"

  The cards are placed in carousel style, but the background color is
  simply omitted, the color of the card stays black.

  If the card-layout is changed from "horizontal" to "vertical", the
  color is there, and the cards in a carousel style, but the bottom 10%
  of the cards seem to be clipped. (Screenshot attached)

  Drag to close is a great feature in application spread. In user
  testing it had a great success rate and users understood it and knew
  how to use it. The problem is the Dash item that's part of the spread
  but is the only item which cannot be closed. Currently the Dash item
  drag movement is similar to the movement of the items that actually
  can be closed.

  We want to make Dash drag different from others by restricting the
  movement while still responding to user's drag.

  Desired solution

  Use restriction algorithm for dash item so that it moves along the
  drag but soon starts restricting the movement indicating that it's an
  item that cannot be closed.

  Here is quite nice elastic function that can be used:
  function elastic( currentPosition, limit ) {
  return limit * ( 1 - Math.pow( ( limit - 1 ) / limit, currentPosition ) )
  }

  Where:
  limit is the highest value that ever can be returned by the function
  current position is the value to be limited

  It's a bit hard to describe the parameters, therefore I created a prototype
that should explain the usage.

  Steps to reproduce in the initial set up wizard
  1. after selecting your language and setting up wifi continue to the
passcode set up screen
  2. type in your 4 digit passcode and pay attention to the dots representing
the digits

  Expected result: all 4 dots are visible before screen moves on to
  confirm your passcode

  Actual result: only 3 dots are visible and it looks like you only
  picked a 3 digit passcode

  It would be great to have a slight delay and show user the last dot
  before screen moves on to the next step as we currently have when
  unlocking your device after swiping away the greeter.

Bug description:
  krillin
  build 143

  Steps to reproduce in the initial set up wizard
  1. after selecting your language and setting up wifi continue to the
passcode set up screen
  2. type in your 4 digit passcode and pay attention to the dots representing
the digits

  Expected result: all 4 dots are visible before screen moves on to
  confirm your passcode

  Actual result: only 3 dots are visible and it looks like you only
  picked a 3 digit passcode

  It would be great to have a slight delay and show user the last dot
  before screen moves on to the next step as we currently have when
  unlocking your device after swiping away the greeter.

  next press, but the phone is no longer usable.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1384393] Re: Photos in scope not visible until all loaded

2014-10-23 Thread Andrea Cimitan
Probably not a bug in unity8, as we simply display what we receive from
the backend. From a quick chat, when we receive data we display it, so
if you see a blank dash is because the backend didn't set the data yet.

I think the data should behave as a list, where as soon as results are
populating they are being appended in batches... for example for 1000
photos, send the first dozen then another dozen etc etc... until you
reach 1000. That way we don't have to wait until 1000 photos are being
processed in order to be sent to unity8.

Bug description:
  I think this is a generic unity8 issue that is exposed in the My
  Photos scope. This scope displays photos from the photo roll through
  mediascanner.

  Problem:
  When there are many photos, the scope does not display thumbnails for quite a
while. (It may even be that no photo thumbnails display until all are loaded
into memory.) This is an awkward user experience because the scope looks like
nothing is happening for significant periods of time.

  Expectation:
  Photo thumbnails would display as they arrive. (Perhaps there would be some
kind of window around what is currently visible in the scope so that as soon as
photos in the current scroll area, before it by some amount, and after it by
some amount are in memory, they could display and the user could scroll
somewhat, with the window moving appropriately.)
