[Touch-packages] [Bug 962082] Re: Profiles that require duplex audio like Head Set (HSP) and Hands Free (HFP) do not work on machines with Broadcom BCM20702A0 Bluetooth chips
** CVE added: https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=2020-6236 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962082 Title: Profiles that require duplex audio like Head Set (HSP) and Hands Free (HFP) do not work on machines with Broadcom BCM20702A0 Bluetooth chips Status in HWE Next: Fix Released Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: This problem seems to occur on every device that uses the BCM20702A0 Bluetooth hardware. How to reproduce: (1) Pair a bluetooth headset with a machine equipped with a BCM20702A0. (2) Activate the device. Usually there is a button on the headset you should press to notify the bluetooth stack that you're ready to use the device. This creates SCO link and the plumbs the audio components. (3) Open the sound settings tool and select the bluetooth device under the "Input" and "Output" tabs. Under each tab you should see a table with an entry that has a headset icon on the left with the bluetooth device name to the right. This is the item to select. Now, everything should be configured so that you can use your bluetooth device to hear and record audio. Test this by: Testing Input: (1) In the sound settings tool, select the "Input" tab. (2) Make sure the "Input Volume" is not muted and the scale widget is not set to zero. (3) Make sounds into the headset mic -- you should see the "Input Level" bar raise. Testing Output: In the same program: (1) Select the "Hardware" tab. (2) In the box labeled "Choose a device to configure", select your bluetooth device. (3) A combobox should appear at the bottom of the window labeled "Settings for the selected device". Choose "Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP)". (4) Now click on the "Test Speakers" button to the right. (5) Run speaker test. You should hear a sound. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1776416] Re: Sound stopped working after update 11/06/18 7pm GMT
Well, if the drivers were being updated automatically with a system update they weren't for me. The engineer didn't explain exactly what he did, sorry. The repair wasn't expensive, so maybe you should get an engineer to look at? Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1776416] Re: Sound stopped working after update 11/06/18 7pm GMT
A computer is 50% useless without sound. You don't seem to be in hurry to roll this back to end my misery. This is the second time this has happened, the first had to be fixed by an engineer. Seriously thinking of using Windows, or seeing an engineer again because of your update. The thing I miss about Windows is the ability to 'Go Back' to a previous session. PC Specialist whom built my high-end machine warned me not to use Linux... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1326536] Re: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM
Did some more testing (found how to adjust libvirts dnsmasq.conf and restart it to pick up conf changes): To test, get the dnsmasq pid using the vagrant-libvirt.conf config and check the environment set for the process with: sudo cat /proc/2586/environ VIR_BRIDGE_NAME=virbr0 After killing the relevant dnsmasq you can manually restart using sudo VIR_BRIDGE_NAME=virbr0 /usr/sbin/dnsmasq --conf-file=/var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/vagrant-libvirt.conf --leasefile-ro --dhcp-script=/usr/lib/libvirt/libvirt_leaseshelper Just make sure to check the environment for the dnsmasq process before Adding entries with the following format to the libvirt dnsmasq.conf: host-record=,, interface-name=,br0 And have entries with the following format in /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 and nslookup and dig returns the configured for both short and fqdn instead of 127.0.1.1 as it used to. It appears that host-record overrides entries read from hosts-files because record options are considered to be read before host-files, and only the first entry results in the PTR creation, so a name appearing in the host-record inhibits PTR-record creation based on the entries in /etc/hosts. I also tried using: host-record=, host-record=, Basically without the interface-name being specified and dig/nslookup would start returning two records. So it means that 'interface- name=,br0' appears to be required to prevent the short version from returning both records. It would seem that the alternative would be to create a local copy of /etc/hosts pruned of all loop back address entries and provide that as the hosts file to read instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1326536 Title: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM Status in libvirt package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in lxc package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: When libvirt configures / starts up dnsmasq on the host, it does not pass --no-hosts, resulting in it reading in the /etc/hosts file from the host. The default ubuntu setup will have the host's hostname in /etc/hosts under 127.0.1.1. Since libvirt's dnsmasq is reading this file, anything querying that dnsmasq instance will resolve the host's hostname out of /etc/hosts. The result of this is any VM running on the host will resolve the host's hostname as 127.0.1.1. For example, if the host's hostname is BoxA, any VM running on the host will resolve BoxA to 127.0.1.1, which is not BoxA's actual address. Would recommend passing --no-hosts to dnsmasq when libvirt starts it up. If a user wants hardcoded hosts for their libvirt network, they can add them to /var/lib/libvirt/dnsmasq/default.addnhosts . If this is an acceptable solution, I'd be happy to write the patch up. Never mind, I took some time to patch libvirt to see if it would have any effect. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1326536] Re: libvirt's dnsmasq setup will read /etc/hosts on the host, resulting in odd resolution behaviour on the VM
Perhaps a change could be added to ignore 127.0.0.1 and 127.0.1.1 addresses returned by default? Dnsmasq supports such an option, though it would need to be added to libvirt as it regerates the dnsmasq conf file used each time a network is started. I can click any icons for sub- folders in my home folder, but nautilus will hang and, within a few seconds, turn grey and stay that way. The only way to get nautilus to close is by forcing a quit.
