[Touch-packages] [Bug 1918658] [NEW] Display glitches when showing context menu

2021-03-11 Thread gabriele
Public bug reported:

I am using Android Studio to develop Applications. When i have lots of
windows opened and i try to open a context menu or write code, it shows
a frame of some applications that are below the current window. In the
video it is more clear. I don't know if this is a problem related to
Ubuntu or Android Studio but it is very noisy. In this case it is clear
that the frame shown belongs to the Arduino window that is open under
it. Sometimes i can see frames of my wallpaper (when i don't have any
window under it) or others. This problem doesn't happen with other
programs (for now).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1917801] [NEW] Multi monitor bug opening windows

2021-03-04 Thread gabriele
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

When i open a window like Spotify or GitKracken, that should open in my
second monitor (because i always use them there), Ubuntu draws it in my
main monitor, but, if i try to move it, resize or press an area of the
window, it selects the window that is under it (like if the windows does
not logically exist there). If i click on the window title bar, it
sometimes appears on the second monitor and is resized (also if i press
the minimize button or others). Sometimes the window is not responding
until i do not minimize it from the dock and re-maximize it. Once it
does that everything works well.

project github or install alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.3 from Debian testing.

Bug description:
chtmax98090 intel HD audio device doesn't work out of the box after
installing ubuntu (from 14.04 to 18.04). It shows "Dummy Output" on
  audio devices.

Audio options shows device and it works if I do this:

   git clone https://github.com/plbossart/UCM.git
   cd UCM
   cp -r chtmax98090/ /usr/share/alsa/ucm/
   alsactl store

It would be great if there were a solution to make it works out of the
box. The device (Chromebook Acer CB3-111 has it's end of life for
chromeOS in July-August, so I suppose more people with this device
will change OS perhaps to Ubuntu).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1848180] [NEW] LVM initrd fails to activate btrfs multidevice root

2019-10-15 Thread Gabriele Tozzi
Public bug reported:

I have two lvm volumes (/dev/mapper/raid-btrfs and /dev/mapper/fast-
btrfs) in two different volume groups. I have created a btrfs (raid1)
filesystem on top of them and that's my root filesystem.

If i define it by UUID in the root= kernel argument, i just hit bug
#1574333. Forcing my root to "/dev/mapper/fast-btrfs" by defining
GRUB_DEVICE in /etc/default/grub works around that bug.

The problem now is that initrd is only activating the device given as
root= argument, leaving the other inactive; consequently the btrfs mount
fails to find its second device and the system fails to boot giving up
at initramfs prompt.

Manually adding a line to activate also 2nd device at the bottom of
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/lvm2 and rebuilding the
initramfs works around this issue too, but i suppose my mods will be
washed away by next package upgrade.

Here is the result:
> activate "$ROOT"
> activate "$resume"
> activate "/dev/mapper/raid-btrfs"

Proposed solution:
I understand this is an uncommon setup and correctly handling multidevice LVM
roots is complicated, please just add a configuration option to manually
define/append the list of volume groups to be activated at initrd time.

Hey there, same problem here, audio has strange glitches, maybe we could
reopen this issue? Both a collegue and I bought this same laptop and we
are both affected by this issue, even on recent kernel builds.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2016-10-26 Thread Gabriele
The same problem for me.
A partial solution to the problem (at least aesthetic, so as not to leave the
scope as a blank page) is the ability to save a fictional location that allows
the scope to upload the location information and do not stay white. Only if the
GPS provides location data, then the scope will return the updated values to
the actual position

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1565367] [NEW] Lightdm fails to show login screen

2016-04-02 Thread Gabriele Tozzi
Public bug reported:

Hello, there!

When I start the PC, it boots correctly.
Lightdm starts and shows the login prompt for about 1-2 seconds, then the
screen goes black, like lightdm just crashed.
If i CTRL+ALT+F5-F9, lightdm is gone, there is no more graphical screen
prompting for login.
If i CTRL+ALT+F1, i can login into the terminal and inspect the problem:
- "service lightdm status" still reports lightdm as "active (running)", even if
no lightdm screen can be found
- "ps aux | grep lightm" shows many lightdm-related processes still running

The log (attached) complains about being unable to autologin, but i have
automatic login disabled.
I suspect this is somewhat related to suspension/resume, because it started to
happen after I've tried to use it.

When I issue a "service lightdm restart", lightdm restarts and this time
it works correctly (it shows the login screen, then "blinks" the screen
to black after 1-2 secs like it is about to get stuck again, but this
time it recovers back to the login prompt and allows me to login).

Here is my lightdm.conf:
"
[SeatDefaults]
allow-guest=false
autologin-guest=false
#autologin-user=
#greeter-session=lightdm-kde-greeter
greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1553901] Re: Adding contact from dailer-app only opens the Contacts-app

2016-03-07 Thread Gabriele
Hi,

I had also seen him this thing .
But it is correct . After clicking on the icon to add the contact , the phone
opens the address book because you can select " New Contact" ( and opens a new
tab with the new number already set ) or another contact ( and the new number
it is inserted between the numbers already present in the selected contact ) .
Let's say that the procedure is not wrong , maybe the icon that appears in the
App phone is unclear . This looks like " Add Contact" while it is " enter or
change existing contact "

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1553907] [NEW] fsck man page refers to missing -p option

2016-03-06 Thread Gabriele Tozzi
Public bug reported:

Hello there,

in the fsck man mage there are references to a '-p' option:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1490412] Re: rollapp.com says not a supported browser

2015-11-09 Thread Gabriele
@ Olivier
No, actually on my Android tablet it works well.
Even if you look at the video presentation
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded=0kW-sgBKtZI) works on
iPad, and Android devices.
the limit would seem only the use of Chrome

cheers

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1494333] [NEW] [Gallery app] Events view is very slowly

2015-09-10 Thread Gabriele
Public bug reported:

Hi to everyone,

I use an Aquaris E4.5 15.01 r.25

When you open the Gallery app , the default setting of the display is on
"Events".

The opening of the photo - especially if your photos are stored on the
external drive - is very , very, very slow .

A temporary solution to speed up the user experience, would be to set
the default display in "Photo" ( which are loaded a little more faster )
waiting to optimize the loading method .

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1478723] [NEW] Predictive Dialing

2015-07-27 Thread Gabriele
Public bug reported:

Hello everyone.

I think it would be useful to introduce the predictive dialing keyboard,
already equipped with alphabetic characters.

In practice, by dialing the name of the person in your address book,
using the letters on the keyboard, the phone should display the contacts
that match the series of letters that you have typed.

It might be added a button to change from normal composition to
predictive dialing.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1442877] Re: Adobe Reader 9 (Acrobat) printing no longer works

2015-07-14 Thread Gabriele Magi
Hello, just to confirm that I have found the same bug in Ubuntu Gnome 15.04.
Adobe 9.5.5 is working correctly in Ubuntu 14.04, 12.04, and SolydK/Debian8:
all of them are 32 bit, so I think that using a 32bit version on a 64 bit
distro is not relevant.
I tried printing a file with two different printers, but with no luck.
Printing through evince/Libreoffice is ok.

specified pages are now disabled in the print dialogue box.

Failing documents print successfully using evince.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-08-14 Thread Gabriele Santilli
I can connect using Blueman... but if I actually use the headset it
starts distorting the audio after a minute or so and then disconnects.

Bug description:
  Hi,

  I found a bug in Ubuntu 14.04 !

I tried to pair a bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP compatible). The
pairing process goes well, but after that I can't select it on the
  audio preferences.

When I select it, it only shows the last selected item options and don't do
anything. (he should switch to the headset output).
I must mention that it worked very well on Ubuntu 12.04.

This bug can be in the bluetooth stack or in unity-control-center or
maybe pulseaudio. I actually have no idea.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1252733] Re: [XPS 12-9Q33, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Background noise or low volume

2014-08-05 Thread Gabriele
@Raymond
I'm sorry, I can't follow what you are saying, I don't know much about hda nor
alsa.
I confirm that the pin config of 0x19 is required for microphones, without it
they are not detected, I just tested it.

@dbyte
Did you try what I wrote in comment #34? The problem could be the same and by
looking at the output of your alsa-info.sh I think the script I posted will
work as intended, but I can't say whether it will get rid of the noise or not.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1252733] Re: [XPS 12-9Q33, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Background noise or low volume

2014-08-04 Thread Gabriele
I got a headset and tried it, no autodetection:
sound hdaudioC1D0: Headset jack set to headphone (default) mode.

Regarding 0x19, I guess you are right and it's required for microphones, but I
don't have one to test.

Anyway, the pop noise is heard when switching between these two (Node 0x19):
Pin-ctls: 0x21: IN VREF_50
Pin-ctls: 0x20: IN VREF_HIZ

VREF_50 is used with microphones, VREF_HIZ with headphones and headset.

The pop noise is not a big deal, is heard only once on boot and it's not
that loud.

It would be nice to use control socket, because in this way, you don't
have to enter password again to copy the ssh-key if you have an already

The problem is that when connecting using a control socket, it's not
printed the line like:

debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version
OpenSSH_5.3

So the variable REMOTE_VERSION is not set.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1342412] [NEW] ssh-copy-id hangs when using ControlMaster auto

2014-07-15 Thread Gabriele Vivinetto
Public bug reported:

On ubuntu 14.04 amd 64, running openssh-client 1:6.6p1-2ubuntu2, when using in
~/ssh/config
  ControlMaster auto

If you open an ssh connection to an host, and after try to run ssh-copy-id on
the same host, trying to reuse the already opened connection, ssh-copy-id hangs.
If you press CTRL-D, the script goes on, without installing any key.

It seems that the script hangs at lines
 REMOTE_VERSION=$(ssh -v -o PreferredAuthentications=',' $@ 21 |
sed -ne 's/.*remote software version //p')
