[Touch-packages] [Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails

2016-09-24 Thread John M.
So will IMAP IDLE work when this bug is fixed or is there no hope of it
working for Ubuntu Touch given the lifecycle policy.

  mails.

  Testing (by example)
  1. Kill Dekko.
  2. Send you an email.
  3. Open Dekko.
  4. Change quickly to another app before Dekko starts.
  5. Bug: No notification
  6. Go to Dekko: You'll see your new mail.

FYI as improvement, for me, in Dekko is not clear if Dekko checks the
mail after X minutes or is a push notification.

  Thanks in advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed

2016-08-09 Thread John M
Same here Lenovo T530 Intel 6205 wifi adapter.
The work around (sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service) works for me
most of the time. Sometimes my machine needs a reboot then a router reboot to
reconnect. It's an old router but didn't present any issues before Ubuntu 16LTS
install. Hopefully coincidental. Good luck!

Bug description:
  [Impact]
NM needs to re-read the DEVTYPE after the device name changed, an example is
that WiFi network list disappears from network manager applet

  [Testcase]
  1. Boot the system. It should include a wireless device.
  2. In a terminal, run 'nmcli dev'.
  3. In the correct case, the line for the wireless device should read "wifi"
under the TYPE column. In a failure case, it will read "ethernet".

After upgrading to the new version, the repeating the above steps
  should give expected behavior.

  [Regression Potential]
Potential of causing regression is relatively small for a one line change to
re-read a value to be known.

  ---

  Problems:-

  1. The network manager applet does not show the list of WiFI APs it can find.
  2. The network manager applet does not the name of the AP to which it is
connected
  3. The icon of the applet shows two vertical arrows in opposite direction -
the wired connection symbol and NOT the wifi connected icon.

  Temporary Workaround:-
Log out and again log back in.

no matter what o.s. or computer i use i am apparently forced by
persons/agency unknown to be a workstation on a domain..and am totally
limited on what permissions i have...and am denied permission to change
numerous features and programs...this happens with windows or any o.s.
this should be and is a stand alone computer and is not supposed to be a
part of any domain or networkyet it is...and i am unable to be
administrator/owner of my own computer with unknown parties controlling on a
real time basis ..they react instantaneously to any changes i make and
reverse what i have done.they operate remotely and with blue tooth and
far more and do many things to frustrate me ..this has been going on for some
time.they exploit all and any vulnerabilities available...it seems to me
that whenever i install an o.s oruse a boot disk that they interfere with the
MBR, kernel and bios..before the actual disk m can operate...it also seems to
me that all O.S. 's assume that if you are part of a domain..or network..that
you are supposed to be part of the network..and the o.s. is installed
accordingly.so I am not writing about one or even many bugs but am
seeking help with what I have explained...my email is
 paradigmshift...@outlook.com and I am
deadly earnest in what I am saying...I could explain for hours some of the
things they are doing..and I hope to hear from you and thank you in
advance...there should be some documents and logs or?? along with this
explanationmy email is paradigmshift...@outlook.com and I am John Mortimore
i am unsure what is running now
