2015-12-19 Thread LAZA
Public bug reported:

exited with unknown return code 1
[31989] systemd-logind[4272]: Failed to fully start up daemon: Input/output

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1489154] Re: NetworkManager does not start / fails to start

2015-09-05 Thread LAZA
Yes, the proposed packages are active cause it is a test version of an
beta release... and it this should be so can be read on ubuntuusers.de.

So, how can it be,
- that i get an partial upgrade and
- HOW can it make shure, that this never ever happens in an released version?

I just did what every person (and the script in cron) would do - update
and upgrade right every 24 hours.

Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
When I suspend my laptop, I cannot resume from that state. All I see is an
outline of the unlock window for gnome. I can move the mouse, but I cannot
interact with the system. A hard reboot is needed to get it working again. I
have an Asus F8VA with an ATI HD3650 video and am using the proprietary
drivers. There is a stack trace in the kern.log. It says that [fglrx] ASIC hang
happened and that Xorg is tainted. I'm attaching the log. This is on a fully
update Intrepid 64bit. uname -a:

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1051935 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1051935

HOW can this be a duplicate of #1051935 if

- there is only 12.04 and 12.10 affected?
- fix is released?

BUT this shit happens in 15.04 ???

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1334300] Re: after installing updates for OpenSSL there is no advice to reboot the PC

2015-01-13 Thread LAZA
After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make
all the necessary changes.

--> installed update http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-2459-1/ but no
instruction to reboot!

Title:
after installing updates for OpenSSL there is no advice to reboot the
  PC

Status in openssl package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
There where a lot of updates for OpenSSL in the last weeks and every time
there is a instruction in the USN to reboot the PC - like here:
  http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-2232-3/

"To update your system, please follow these instructions:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Security/Upgrades.

After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all
  the necessary changes."

But in the indicator on the panel is no advice to reboot the PC for safety
reasons.
I'm not shure if this is a problem of OpenSSL or the indicator plugin from
XFCE4 itself - but the reboot advice should be pop up in every desktop
installation to sensibilize the user about the security risk.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1387031] Re: No packages recognized as "official" until first update

2014-11-11 Thread LAZA
I would deny, that this is a problem of a fresh installation!

This machine, where it happened, was installed in 2012 and got regulary
updates.

Maybe this behaviour is also on fresh installed machines, but it seems
that something other blocks --> and then you get this...

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1387038] [NEW] search for mirror servers takes a long time --> search not for server on different continents

2014-10-29 Thread LAZA
Public bug reported:

The last few days i got problems with the main server from which i get
updates for my internet cafe machines.

So i had to change the mirror server and made the mistake to "search" for the
best server.
This leads to a long lasting episode of waiting...

On a Mint test machine i can see whats going on:
All servers around the world were pinged and waiting for ping back.
This is a waste of time and internet traffic!

Why should i (living in Germany) ping a mirror server in Brasil, USA,
South Africa, Australia, .. ???

Please change this to a serious request and use/try *only* mirror
servers in the same region (or at least on the same continent).

As i remind correct, this affects all releases from 10.04 till 14.10.

.

Xubuntu 12.04

Title:
search for mirror servers takes a long time --> search not for
  server on different continents

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:

2014-09-17 Thread LAZA
** Description changed:

- I have the problem in virtuell machines that the favored virtualbox
+ I have the problem in virtual machines that the favored virtualbox
packages for the guest does not install correct.

  - make a new Linux VM
  - install Xubuntu (i think, we have the same problem in all the other Ubuntu
distros)
  - reboot --> get a real small window (800x640?)
  - install package Synaptic
  - open Synpatic
  - go through the options
  - - Ubuntu Software all ticked (except sources)
-- other software all ticked (except sources, again)
  -- Updates all ticked
- -- additional propietary drivers
+ -- additional propietary drivers
  --> activate Virtualbox-guest
  --> accept/do now
--> installation starts (blue bar) but hangs forever

This is cause of NOT reloading the software sources/packages so i got an

works flawless.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1334300] Re: after installing updates for OpenSSL there is no advice to reboot the PC

Same problem today with these updates:

Title:
after installing updates for OpenSSL there is no advice to reboot the
  PC

Status in “openssl” package in Ubuntu:
