[Touch-packages] [Bug 2058253] [NEW] Notebook screen the look is "matte"

2024-03-18 Thread Leandro
Public bug reported:

Hi, feedback:
In general, on the notebook screen, the look is "matte", smoke in the images,
videos, games, on the desktop, etc., especially when the screen brightness
increases.
When compared to Ubuntu with gnome, windows 11, it has greater clarity,
stronger colors, etc.
In Kubuntu I didn't find the option to increase the sharpness, to improve etc.,
so I wanted to leave feedback here, to help with the project.

2024-03-14 Thread Leandro
Boot logs, in text file, if needed 👍

** Attachment added: "journalctl.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/2057957/+attachment/5756043/+files/journalctl.txt

** Description changed:

Hello, when connecting a headset to the PC, the sound comes out at the same
time from the PC speaker and the headset.
And the volume bar only appears to have an effect on the headphone jack. The
sound coming out of the speaker remains the same volume.

I tested it on the desktop, just turning down the volume, with the game
- Need for speed most wanted 2012, proton, on Steam .deb, on the official
- website.
+ Need for speed most wanted 2012, proton, on Steam (.deb)

  Steps to reproduce
1 - Connect the headphones to the Laptop while it is still turned off
2 - After connecting, carry out sound tests
3 - the sound comes out of both headphones and speaker

Bug description:
Hello, inside Steam, in big picture mode, in system, system
information, the vram memory has a negative value, it is not showing
the real amount that the onboard reaches, supports. I think it's the
video driver, or some other driver.

There are also some fps losses, games that reach 60fps, at various
times it is below, like 45fps or less. Even switching to maximum
performance mode by clicking on the system battery icon.

When I connect the PC to a smart TV as the primary screen, with HDMI, full
HD, the image is blurry, as if there were blurs in the images.
In the TV settings, it is set to maximum contrast and sharpness.

Also another feedback: in languages, in the system settings, I can't
download the missing packages, the download button is not shown. This
happens after installing the system in minimal mode, and then
installing other additional programs. I will send the name of the
  programs.

Bug description:
After upgrading linux-firmware from 1.190.5 to 1.197 (as part of the
upgrade from Ubuntu 20.10 to 21.04), I started experiencing frequent
and severe GPU instability. When this happens, I see this error in
  dmesg:

[20061.061069] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: [gfxhub0] retry page fault
(src_id:0 ring:0 vmid:1 pasid:32769, for process Xorg pid 1141 thread Xorg:cs0

  [20061.061189] amdgpu :03:00.0: amdgpu: RW: 0x0

I'll attach a couple of full dmesgs that I collected.

Many of the times when this happens, the screen and keyboard freeze
irreversibly (I tried waiting for more than 30 minutes, but it doesn't
help). I can still log in via ssh though. When there's no freeze, I
can continue using the computer normally, but the laptop fans keep
running are always running and the battery depletes fast. There's
probably something on a permanent loop either in the kernel or in the
  GPU.

This bug happens several times a day, rendering the machine so
unstable as to be almost unusable. It is a severe regression and I'm
aghast that it passed AMD's Quality Assurance.

After downgrading back to linux-firmware 1.190.5, the machine is back
to the previous, mostly-reliable state. Which is to say, this bug is
gone, I'm just left with the other amdgpu suspend bug I've learned to
live with since I bought this computer.

Please revert the amdgpu firmware in this package as soon as possible.
  This is unbearable.

2021-04-05 Thread Alex Leandro Rosa
Hi, thanks for answering.

The output of the command lsattr -l /etc/sudoers is Extents.

By the way, I appreciate your help but I got the problem solved by the
commands:

chattr -i /etc/sudoers and then chmod!!

Best regards!!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1850702] Re: [Samsung Notebook 7 Pro, Realtek ALC256, headphone jack] Headphone sound is faint and distorted (but works fine in Windows)

2021-03-21 Thread Leandro
The command

sudo hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1a 0x707 0x05

works for me, but the patch proposed (I added the files), do not seem to
be working after reboots. Currently I have to run the command above
everytime I reboot.

I can't get sound of my laptop (Samsung Notebook 7 Force) through the

When I plug a headphone, I can hear the sound being played very
faintly. If I bump the volume to the maximum, that is. The sound is
very distorted, like a buzz effect being applied over it.

I noticed that if I delete /.config/pulse the distortion goes away,
but the sound remains very low. After some time, the buzzing effect
  comes back.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1850702] Re: [Samsung Notebook 7 Pro, Realtek ALC256, headphone jack] Headphone sound is faint and distorted (but works fine in Windows)

2021-03-19 Thread Leandro
Is it confirmed that this bug is fixed in newer Kernels? I am running 5.4.0.66
and have this problem in a Samsung laptop as well.

Thank you.

Title:
[Samsung Notebook 7 Pro, Realtek ALC256, headphone jack] Headphone
sound is faint and distorted (but works fine in Windows)

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I can't get sound of my laptop (Samsung Notebook 7 Force) through the
headphone jack. The speakers work fine.

When I plug a headphone, I can hear the sound being played very
faintly. If I bump the volume to the maximum, that is. The sound is
very distorted, like a buzz effect being applied over it.

I noticed that if I delete /.config/pulse the distortion goes away,
but the sound remains very low. After some time, the buzzing effect
  comes back.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1915945] Re: package sudo 1.8.31-1ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: installed sudo package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2021-02-23 Thread Alex Leandro Rosa
Hi,

Thanks for answering.

I haven't modified the /etc/sudoers file, in reallity, I'm trying to
modify it and am getting the same error message.

I logged as root, tried with sudo -i, and su, but I'm getting the same
message in them all.

I also tried to chown, and it didn't work also.

I'm not really understanding what is blocking the access to the file.

Best regards,

Alex Leandro Rosa

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1553685] Re: Lenovo Y700-17ISK subwoofer doesn't work

2018-08-09 Thread Leandro Britez
I'm having the same problem on Ubuntu 18.04.1 and Lenovo Y700-15isk.

Tried to assign unconnected pins 0x17 and 0x1b to LFE with hdajackretask
with no success. Power-state on D0 instead of D3 with hda-verb.

Unmuted every node related to those pins, and put high volumes on every
channel with alsa/pulseaudio.

I'm out of ideas. I can offer USD100 as bounty if someone can help solve
this problem.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2017-10-29 Thread Leandro
Hi Felipe,

Thanks for the feedback. This issue has been kind of solved by Gunnar
for ubuntu, for given selections of locales (comment #115).

The issue is that now I installed Mint, and realized that the fixes are
not spread to other ubuntu based distributions.

I still do not understand how can we have hundreds of different keyboard
layouts to choose from, at the same time being impossible to create a
new one with this choice.

The specific issue of the 'c=ç is probably less popular now because most
computers sold in Brazil have now the brazilian keyboard layout, and
that is fine. As a programmer, I suffer with the fact that "/" and "?"
are Alt-Gr dead keys in this layout, and I keep using the US one, but
for most people the fact that these keys are in such inconvenient
positions probably doesn't matter.

Leandro.

However, every time some update on this file is applied, one looses the

For me this is no problem. But for my brother, mom, dad, etc, it is always
something

because

I think we really need a configurable keyboard layout, or at least (and that
would
be very easy), the inclusion of alternate layouts on install that for the
dead-key
options (as US-deadkey and UK-deakey), alternate layouts as
US-deadkey-cedilla.

This change is relevant for at least Portuguese and French.

thank you very much for your prompt feedback.

No, that file is not present in Mint.

My locale was incorrect, although I never changed it manually.

Adding:

export LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8

to ~/.profile

restored the correct behavior. Where should this be reported now?

The workaround described in comment #115 does not work either (generating and
exporting the LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8)

I think that we need to face the fact that the only definitive solution
is to have a keyboard layout that displays the desired behavior
independently on the other non-correlated choices of the environmental
variables.

Bug description:

When typing in a US-international keyboard with dead-keys (or
UK-international),
typing 'c results in an accented c instead of a cedilla.

There is a workaround, which is editing the

  /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodule-files.d/libgtk2.0-0.immodules

  file and changing the line

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa"

  to

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa:en"

(add the 'en' at the end).

However, every time some update on this file is applied, one looses the
change,
and we get back to the accented c. That means having to modify the file again,
  logout and login.

For me this is no problem. But for my brother, mom, dad, etc, it is always
something
that at least makes me less proud of having convinced them to use Ubuntu,
because
they don't know what to do each time this happens.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2017-10-27 Thread Leandro
That is, choosing the regional settings as "portuguese, Brazil, UTF-8"
does not result in the correct behavior of the '+c combination anymore.

Bug description:
I'm experiencing a strange behavior with a headphone jack on my
  laptop.

I have an external audio speaker connected to it. When I disconnect the
speaker and reconnect it again it stops working.
Even more, laptop audio stops working too. And after the reboot, I don't even
see any of the audio devices.

I've googled a lot and tried different fixes from forums with no luck.
After a while, I've accidentally discovered that putting the laptop to
the sleep mode and rebooting system after brings audio back to live.
Even more, if speakers were attached during this sleep-reboot
procedure, they are starting to work as well.

However, after the next reboot speakers are not working again. And if
I will plug them out and in - problem with completely missing audio
  returns.

P.S. I'm using laptop-mode-tools package on my laptop. Recovery after
hibernation made me believe that it's somehow related. But after
uninstalling this package nothing really changed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1545653] Re: Unrecognized relocation when compiling

2016-08-16 Thread Leandro Heck
I still having this problem. I am trying to build an app on Ubuntu 16.04
using a separated gcc-toolchain (gcc-4.7.4-linux_x86_64). This toolchain
comes from Mentor Questa which I have to use to build my SystemC
applications. A simple hello world using this toolchain reproduces the
problem.

#include
int main() {
fprintf(stdout, "Hello, world.\n");
return(0);
}

I managed to solve that removing the ld which comes with the external
toolchain by the ld from the system. A simple symbolic link had solved
the problem.

However, I am looking for a more elegant way to change ld like a gcc
flag or an environment variable.

I would like to ask if someone has some idea on how to do that.

By the way, my system is currently configured with:

Package: binutils - Version: 2.26.1-1ubuntu1~16.04.3
Package: libgcc1 - Version: 6.0.1-0ubuntu1
Package: libc6- Version: 2.23-0ubuntu3

Same here in the land of Ubuntu 16.04. Please fix this! Sometimes it

  init-checkconf returns seemingly random results

Status in upstart package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
While tracking down a problem related to upstart, I decided to check
the syntax of all my upstart init files. I wrote this simple script:

  for a in /etc/init/*; do init-checkconf $a; done 2>&1 | grep invalid

This script said that a number of files had syntax errors. When the
file with the error is checked individually on the command line with
  init-checkconf, it shows no error.

Running the script again showed a different set of files with errors.
Checking each file individually on the command line does not show an
  error.

Running it a third time gave yet another set of files with errors.

Why would this give different results each time it is run? Why does
init-checkconf report seemingly random syntax errors when run in a
  script?

'/etc/apport/crashdb.conf'.
  ---
The crash database work has made it much harder for users to enable apport
bug filing for crashes in stable Ubuntu releases, even for those who could
otherwise contribute useful bug reports. "Comment out line 23 of
/etc/apport/crashdb.conf" is not particularly straightforward.

One thing that would mitigate this is if the users could still run one of the
following commands to manually submit a bug report about a given crash:
  1) 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/application.crash';
  2) and even more so, 'apport-cli -c /var/crash/app.crash' (as for now, it
quietly exits without explanation after pressing the 'S' key instead of sending
a crash report, as stated in duplicate bug #992064).
The fact that this is also disabled by the crashdb settings is a tad
inconvenient. I think the manual command should be allowed to work even
post-release.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-04-23 Thread Leandro
Thank you Felipe for your feedback. Actually it is Gunnar's solution :-).
Anyway, the idea at this point is that
in the next releases that will be the behavior if the user sets the interface
language or the language settings
to Portuguese (with the US-International - dead keys keyboard).

because
they don't know what to do each time this happens.

I think we really need a configurable keyboard layout, or at least (and that
would
be very easy), the inclusion of alternate layouts on install that for the
dead-key

US-deadkey-cedilla.

This change is relevant for at least Portuguese and French.

Hi Felipe,

I tried it on the windowed emacs, and it worked. I think you need to logout and
login again so that the new
option applies to all instances of your session.

@Felipe: I have now tested the fix of Post 115 and it works in Emacs as well in
a new instalation of Linux Mint.

If you confirm that it does not work for you, please let us know the details.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-04-06 Thread Leandro
Dear Gunnar,

Thank you very much, this is a great progress on this issue.

The brazilian community is very active for Ubuntu and other linux distros, and
flavours and forums
exist. I will do my best to "pass the message", such that this solution becomes
heard over the many
other workarounds.

By the way, I will take the liberty to reproduce here the solution you
posted on askubuntu:

==

 SOLUÇÃO/ SOLUTION

==

Não importa que idioma você tenha instalado no seu sistema, quando estiver
usando
o teclado US-Internacional (with dead keys), a cedilha será digitada pela
combinação '+c
seguindo estes passos:

1. Gere o "local" pt_BR.UTF-8:

sudo locale-gen pt_BR.UTF-8

2. Adicione isto ao seu ~/.profile :

export LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8

(saia e entre da sua seção)

Caso o suporte para língua portuguesa estiver instalado, estes dois passos não
são necessários.
Basta você escolher "Português Brasileiro" como idioma de interface. Na versão
do Ubuntu 15.04
ou superior bastará escolher o idioma de interface OU as configurações
regionais como
"Português Brasileiro".

=

In English, as originally posted by Gunnar at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/363115/how-to-type-latin-small-letter-c
-with-cedilla

"Whichever language you are using, all you need to do, to make '+c
result in ç, is:

Generate the pt_BR.UTF-8 locale, if it's not already available:

sudo locale-gen pt_BR.UTF-8

Add this line to your ~/.profile file:

export LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8

If you are a Brazilian user, and install the Portuguese language -
either when installing or later from Language Support - you can skip the
just mentioned steps. Instead you can just open Language Support and
select Brazilian Portuguese as the display language. As from Ubuntu
15.04 it's sufficient to select Brazilian Portuguese as the Regional
Formats setting."

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-04-06 Thread Leandro
Concerning the pt_PT: Although we do not have manifestations from Portuguese
people, we can be quite certain (as we know the Portuguese language :-) ) that
the fix will be useful for them as well. Concerning other latin languages:
Spanish, French, Italian, none of them have the acute-c character, so probably
few people will notice the change. On the contrary, French has the cedilla
character. They do not complain about that because their keyboard is totally
different (including letters interchanged) so are always out of their confort
zone when typing in any qwerty keyboard anyway.

Of course, there will be some people trying to type, for instance,
Serbian, with some keyboard, and they will need the accute-c letter.
However, as mentioned in some comment above, they will also need many
other letters that are not easy to type in the US keyboard anyway, so
preserving the accute-c for the Portuguese people will affect very, very
few people, and only in a very unusual way.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-04-06 Thread Leandro
Dear Gunnar,

I think the "LC_TYPE" approach will solve much of the complains, because
I think most people installing Ubuntu will be physically located in
Brazil and will naturally choose the location as Brazil. If in that case
the cedilla will be typed as we expect it, that will be fine.

At the same time, when that does not happen, the fix will remain pretty
complicated to explain, and forcing someone to change the time-zone or
the display language (I understand those are the options) can be
frustrating. For example, for Brazilians living somewhere else this
might be strange. Also, when things do not work out as expected, I think
people will start looking for solutions and still will find them only in
this bug report, as the workaround will be very unatural.

Leandro.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-04-01 Thread Leandro
Concerning the pt_PT: The portuguese from Portugal, although it has its
differences relative to brazilian
portuguese, has the same accents and it also requires the cedilla the same way,
so I suspected that they
had the same problem. I checked, then, the existence of the same tipe of claim
in forums from Portugal,
using Google

Indeed, we can find exactly the same problem for them. Although, as Portugal
has 5% the population of Brazil,
the number of posts is much smaller.

Therefore, I think that the fix for this problem should be applied to pt_PT
too. And, if there is any other
variation of portuguese (I am not sure if there is one for Angola, Moçambique,
etc.), they all sould be
fixed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-03-31 Thread Leandro
Thank you Gunnar for the explanation.

Indeed, adding "export LC_CTYPE=pt_BR.UTF-8" to "~/.profile" worked. It seems
that the combination
of sudo locale-gen pt_BR.UTF-8 and that works nicely and that it is a nice
workaround.

I don't understand yet exactly how this can become a defintive solution.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-03-31 Thread Leandro
Uhm... I am not sure if that actually works as it should.

First, I tried to apply the pt_BR.UTF-8 locale (using export
LC_CTYPE="pt_BR.UTF8") but the language pack was not installed,
therefore the workaround would only work after installing the language pack,
probably that will create the
same kind of confusion that the workarounds create now.

Anyway, I installed it, and then I could export the LC_CTYPE. I launched a
session of gedit and within that gedit session
the ç appeared correctly. However, at the same terminal from where I launched
gedit the cedilla continued
to appear as an accented "c", and the same for new terminals launched from that
terminal. That is, changing the
LC_CTYPE environment variable did not work system-wide.

At the same time, although there could a combination of
Language/Region/Keyboard that provided the correct
behaviour, I am not sure if forcing a specific language for the interface is a
reasonable solution to that problem.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-03-30 Thread Leandro
Hello Gunnar,

I see! No, unfortunately we also need the accute dead keys for á, é, í,
ó and ú.

The "key" (phisically speaking) must be the same. That is, 'a = á, and
'c = ç

(We also have other accents, such as à, ã, ê, etc., but all other accents work
perfectly in the US-Intl with dead keys layout. The only exception is the
cedilla.

In other words, we need to do what the workarounds do, that is, to change the
behavior of the 'c combination, and only that.

Thanks again,
Leandro.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2015-03-30 Thread Leandro
Dear Gunnar,

I tried installing the package from PPA, but although I can add the PPA
correctly,
I get messages like when updating the database:

Failed to fetch
http://ppa.launchpad.net/gunnarhj/cedilla-test/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-amd64/Packages
 404 Not Found
Failed to fetch
http://ppa.launchpad.net/gunnarhj/cedilla-test/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages
 404 Not Found

How should we proceed with the instalation?

Once that step works, should we install the package with:

sudo apt-get install xkeyboard-config - 2.12-1ubuntu1+cedilla

Is that it?

Thank you again,
Leandro.

2015-02-07 Thread Leandro
Hi Gunnar,

thank you for your support. I did know about the altgr+c option. However, it is
unacceptable for touch-typists.
Also, not every keyboard has the altgr key and, anyway, the 'c combination is
the standard combination for
brazilian typists, so it would be very nice to have an additional layout with
that option.

Bug description:

When typing in a US-international keyboard with dead-keys (or
UK-international),
typing 'c results in an accented c instead of a cedilla.

There is a workaround, which is editing the

  /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodule-files.d/libgtk2.0-0.immodules

  file and changing the line

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa"

  to

  "cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
  "az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa:en"

(add the 'en' at the end).

However, every time some update on this file is applied, one looses the
change,
and we get back to the accented c. That means having to modify the file again,
  logout and login.

For me this is no problem. But for my brother, mom, dad, etc, it is always
something
that at least makes me less proud of having convinced them to use Ubuntu,
because
they don't know what to do each time this happens.
