[Touch-packages] [Bug 2000001] Re: Wifi 5/6 dropped randomly if ipv6 is enabled - Bug dhcp6!!!

2024-04-27 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
I really need to ask:

Have you narrowed down which package causes the issue? If yes, can you
please un-tag packages that are unrelated to the issue?

If you're just generally commenting on the relevance of enabling IPv6 on
standard Ubuntu installations, tagging all packages that perform network
configuration is the wrong approach.

  Hi Support

  at startup of analysis:
Wifi5/6 dropped randomly if ipv6 is enabled/disabled on
gnome-network-manager-gui no Error on Logs! No red Kernel Messages.

  My Lab:
At my Lab i disabled all ipv6 on my Subnet LAN Openwrt-Routers, and my Laptop
loses "randomly" 20times a day the Internet but the Signal is 100% to the
WIFI-Routers, no ping, no nslookup to first DSL-WAN Router possible.

  First Handling:
After i manual enable/disable WIFI by switch is works again fast.

  Analysis:
After some search on Net i disabled ipv6 in sysctl.conf !

  GTK-Apps Affected: seen on network-manager/network-manager-gnome/wicd
  Managers

  Hardware Change/Test:
  I tested / changed 3 different old wifi-5+ new wifi-6 intel AX 7260 HMW
mini-pci-cards same problem!

  Now testing again..

  Thanks

There is a plan to remove resolvconf from the Ubuntu Server image.
resolvconf integrated with other parts of the system in 2 ways:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 2019722] [NEW] ubuntu-minimal: please change Depends on isc-dhcp-client to | dhcp-client

1) isc-dhcp-client doesn't do IPv6 well and cannot handle a dual-stack
case at all.

2) isc-dhcp-client is EOL upstream.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1945645] Re: cups-pdf prints blank pages

2021-10-02 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Thanks. That confirms my suspicions.

Debian already has a patch for CUPS-PDF (pending import into Ubuntu)
that removes the warning about deprecated Ghostscript options.

However, it seems that Ghostscript 9.54 brought in even more unexpected
changes that somehow break CUPS-PDF. This will require additional
investigation.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389891] Re: error during upgrade: cannot create /dev/shm: file exists

2014-11-05 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Actually, even adding --parents to mkdir in postinst doesn't fix it,
since we're dealing with a symbolic link. Suggestions?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389891] Re: error during upgrade: cannot create /dev/shm: file exists

2014-11-06 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
This is my ubuntu+1 chroot, upgraded from release to release for the
past 7 years or so.

Yes, it appears that /run/shm has gone missing. That would explain
everything.

As a matter of curiosity, which ones of /run/shm or /dev/shm is the
current default standard? I'm wondering whether there might have been
changes of strategy upstream, as to which one of those two is expected
to exist, that could have left me with a dangling symbolic link.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1389891] Re: error during upgrade: cannot create /dev/shm: file exists

2014-11-06 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
CADT has spread to Debian and lead to FHS-deviant release goals. That
definitely explains the confusion.

Anyhow, since the target is is the Ubuntu chroot, I "solved" this by re-
creating /dev/shm, removing /run/shm and calling it a day.

I'll leave it to you decide whether enforcing something similar in
postinst would make sense for Ubuntu or not. :)
