[Touch-packages] [Bug 1479076] Re: Does not process %0A line feed symbol

2016-02-25 Thread Michał Karnicki
Take a text buffer with more than a single line, copy the content and
try launching the messaging-app with a URI, which contains the content
of that buffer. I think tiagosh knows the format of the URI. You notice
the text in the messaging-app is then all in single line.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1515977] Re: Nexus4 Shell rotates inappropriately in windowed mode

2016-01-18 Thread Michał Karnicki
I don't have the device, quote from IRC:

(on Avila)

> it's sortof focus
> launch another app
> and it flips shell to landscape
> click on TG, and you're in portrait-shell
> click on the lanscape app, and it stays portrait
> auto-rotating in windowed mode is a bit broken, imho

I can't give an example of a 'landscape app', but whoever has a larger screen
can probably find one. Essentially:
a) starting a new landscape app will flip to landscape mode (if shell was i
portrait)
but
b) switching to (focusing) an already open landscape app will not (shell stays
in portrait)

Generalizing a bit, I also believe orientation requested in the .desktop
file should be ignored (at least to some degree?) in windowed mode.

  Orient device in landscape
Open weather app - which is locked portrait in the .desktop file

Shell rotates to become portrait and there's no way to get it out of
  that mode easily.

The shell should probably ignore the .desktop setting which says that
an app is portrait only if it's windowed.

  - Desired UX
The shell should not rotate automatically when it's in windowed mode.
It should just ignore .desktop file orientations since in windowed mode it's
possible to show a portrait window in landscape mode and vice versa.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472755] Re: corrupted double-linked list probably cause by telegram scope

2015-11-26 Thread Michał Karnicki
Talked on IRC, but for the record:

While the app uses two dependencies, these don't use boost - and the
scope uses none of those altogether. The scope's pure Qt talking to an
sqlite db and surfacing results to scopes-api, not much going on in
there, so at least on that end it's not related to boost::log.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1472755] Re: corrupted double-linked list probably cause by telegram scope

2015-11-26 Thread Michał Karnicki
You're a rockstar Michi, thank you for all this.

We don't have mock data for this purpose, but you could run Telegram off
this branch (README.md will quickly tell you how to, basically
./setup.sh -t desktop -d && ./setup.sh -t desktop -b will download deps
and build it for you). The branch is a quite fresh contribution, but
should at least allow you to sign in to Telegram, which would populate
the database with your current Tg data. In turn, the scope should
surface this data, and hopefully be more representative of a more
natural use case (as opposed to being empty).

If you decide to create this ppa, I could promote it in the Telegram
feedback group, I'm sure we would have a bunch of helpful folks keen to
install this to help pinpoint the problem.

Hi guys, sorry for late reply. I've been pulled to Tg unrelated
assignment and was neck down in documentation. First of all, thank you
for your input, I appreciate this wasn't just left here.

Michi, I'm sorry, but I have not had chance to run this with valgrind on
the desktop. I'll have to refresh my memory how to run this on desktop,
I recall it was fairly easy. How do I test a scope in aggregation,
should I run the Today scope with the Telegram scope installed on the
system?

Regarding what Timo mentioned - I also read a while back disabling
Telegram in Today scope "worked around" the problem.

Since Jean-Baptiste raised this affects Telegram 2.0.4.* as well,
perhaps we could get some fellow developers to review the code, as it
seems we're out of luck trying to address this, and it's not really much
code in the query.cpp

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~libqtelegram-team/telegram-
app/telegram/files/head:/telegram/scope/

Either I'm doing something wrong, or the problem is not within Telegram.
(Yes, I have read all the previous comments.)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500934] [NEW] The new AdaptivePageLayout should allow replacing primaryPage

2015-09-29 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

The new AdaptivePageLayout does not allow replacing of the primaryPage.

Simplest use case:
primaryPage: isSignedIn ? masterPage : signInPage

I've explained in more detail in the #sdk channel, it seems I have
convinced two developers the limitation of not allowing to replace the
primaryPage now seems arbitrary. Allowing to replace the primaryPage
makes the component much more flexible.

Naturally, replacing the primaryPage means all of the pages will be
removed, as the primary page is like "tree root" in this situation.

2015-09-10 Thread Michał Karnicki
I believe I may have found the source of the problem. When the scope is
aggregated, the author assumed they can access results[0], which may not be
true if:
1) the user is signed in
2) but has no messages whatsoever

That'd mean the scope would crash for all users, who have set up
Telegram account, but not really used it.

Michi, if you have time, perhaps you could verify my finding. In the
mean time, I'm rewriting the scope source as the backing database schema
has changed (after we moved to making use of TelegramQML plugin).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1488080] [NEW] Should not use generic contact avatar

2015-08-24 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure I'm filing the bug against the right package.

The persistent notifications on vivid (phone) show a generic
human/contact icon, if no avatar was specified. However, that image may
not match all contexts in terms of who/what posted the notification (it
may be a server monitoring system, for instance, so clearly not a
person).

current build number: 24
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/stable/bq-aquaris.en
last update: 2015-07-22 14:36:08

version ubuntu: 20150713
version device: 20150529-8e13c5f
version custom: 20150709-814-29-21-vivid

---

Feedback from Patricia Davila (design):

Yes, I agree, a generic contact icon does not add value or give any info
to the user in the context of a notification. As I mentioned, if the
avatar is not present, the notification artwork should display the
originating application's icon by default, rather than an generic
placeholder or 'nothing' at worst.

behaviour of notifications in the notification centre:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1479688] [NEW] ListItem does not swipe with custom MouseAreas

2015-07-30 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

Expected:
ListItem with user avatar an an image/attachment. I want to be able to detect
the click on the avatar or the image, so I need to place MouseAreas within the
list view. This used to work with the old ListViewItemWithActions.

Actual:
ListItem does not allow a swipe when it starts on one of those mouse areas.
Meaning, you have to look for "free" space where you can drag the item, which
is not intuitive and clearly a UX annoyance.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1274095] Re: FilterGrid backed by FilterProxyModel renders wrong

2015-07-16 Thread Michał Karnicki
This bug is 1.5 years old, unless you consider it important based on the
description (which I hope is detailed enough), please feel free to drive
the bug however you decide, thanks. If Unity8 is still using FilterGrid,
I believe it would be worth investigating, but I currently don't have
the capacity to help, I'm sorry :(

Title:
FilterGrid backed by FilterProxyModel renders wrong

Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
While working on a different bug I noticed that FilterGrid would
occasionally not render properly when backed by LimitProxyModel.

  To give you an example:
  $ bzr branch -r657 lp:~unity-team/unity8/unity8-fix-filtergrid
  tests/qmltests/Components/tst_FilterGrid
Wraps the fakeModel with LimitProxyModel, and sets that on the filterGrid as
the backing model.
  $ make -C builddir tryFilterGrid
Consdering collapsedRowCount: 2, columns: 3, now select "model count limit"
value
  4 (4 items shown, 3+1), then
  1 (1 item shown), then
4 (*3* items shown, 3+0) -- second row should show one more item.
Note that "rowsWhenCollapsed" displays value of 2, which would be correct
(that would be the actual value of collapsedRowCount).

  Now select:
  3 (3 items shown), then
4 (*4* items shown, 3+1) -- only now the behavior is correct!

In other words, items displayed on the second row seem to "kick in"
only after model grows while it previously filled up the whole first
row (or, for that matter, you could generalize to the last row being
visible in the FilterGrid, smaller than collapsedRowCount).

As you see, changing the count of items in the model should not affect
how many items FilterGrid shows (/renders). And even though
rowsWhenCollapsed is calculated correctly, items are missing. Try
selecting "model count limit" to 1, then 7. You'll only see 3. If you,
  however, set 3, then 7, you'll see 6!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1470951] [NEW] ListItem.Standard deprecated, but ListItem.ThinDivider not - two imports

2015-07-02 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

Perhaps the title of the bug could be worded differently, but I find it
weird we deprecate ListItem.Standard and encourage use of ListItem
component, but we don't move ListItem.ThinDivider.

For the list item, you need Ubuntu.Components
For the list thin divider, you need Ubuntu.Components.ListItems 1.0

Shouldn't this be somehow streamlined? You need two imports to:
1) create custom list items based on new ListItem
2) another one for a thin divider

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1433563] [NEW] QAudioRecorder recording hangs

2015-03-18 Thread Michał Karnicki
Public bug reported:

Recording audio with QAudioRecorder intermittently fails for me. Another
user even reported that it only works 1 out of 5-10 times.

QAudioRecorder seems to hang on requesting the audio to be recorded
(status QMediaRecortder::StartingStatus). When it actually works, it
properly goes from starting to recording and then it's possible to
record audio and playback.

QAudioRecorder has an error() method, but it returns
QMediaRecorder::NoError

Since it was confirmed by two people (victorp, karni) we suspect it's a
bug in the middleware rather than the apps.

A test click has been sent to Ricardo's e-mail by Victor.

Using latest utopic on the phone.

  -
  Desired resolution:

  - When a user deletes an app, 100% of files associated with the app
  should be deleted.

  - A warning notification should be displayed when a user goes to
delete an app informing them that this action will also delete any
data they have stored inside the app. This notification should give
the options of cancelling or proceeding with the action.

  - Users should not be allowed to delete the key apps that ship with
the phone. These key apps are defined as: Dialler, Address book,
  Messaging, Browser, Camera, Music player

The above will give the user a simple easy to understand mental model
while simultaneously protecting the user from deleting important
  content within the default apps.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1368243] Re: Scope consistently causes scope runner crash

2014-09-16 Thread Michał Karnicki
Back to New. Just found
/var/crash/_usr_lib_arm-linux-gnueabihf_unity-scopes_scoperunner.32011.crash
file with:

ProcCmdline: /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/unity-scopes/scoperunner
/home/phablet/.local/share/unity-
scopes//com.canonical.scopes.fbphotos_fbphotos_1.13/com.canonical.scopes.fbphotos_fbphotos.ini

so it does mean scoperunner does crash behind the scenes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1358294] Re: App .config not removed when app uninstalled

2014-08-21 Thread Michał Karnicki
Hi all. Thank you for your constructive feedback on the bug. Regarding what mvo
said
("But we could remove the cache data.") -- that is closer to the nature of this
bug. We recognize there may be user data involved (that is, XDG_DATA_HOME).
However, we believe .cache and .config directories could be safely removed. We
understand that the decision of whether to keep user data (again,
XDG_DATA_HOME) would certainly require design input and update to the
application removal interface. Nevertheless, if you consider the user is
*removing* the application and not *logging out* (where the latter would make
sense to keep all 3 directories [data, config, cache]), removing .cache and
.config would be the natural expectation of the user. And I'm saying that from
purely user perspective, not a developer one.

To summarize, we think that removing .cache and .config would be a
natural thing to do and perhaps we could proceed with the fix, while we
defer the matter of keeping/removing XDG_DATA_HOME of the app. In that
case, if it's Google Drive, Instagram, or similar app, you
documents/pictures are safe even if you remove the app, assuming the app
has stored them in the right location. The things you loose are things
like cached image thumbnails (which usually can be re-generated), custom
layout options, ringtone selection and similar settings, which does not
have any serious impact on user's app data, that is being removed. All
of these are easy to recreate, assuming we leave the XDG_DATA_HOME,
until we have a real UI/fix for it.
