  In the "Today" scope ("Oggi" in italian) there are wrong italian

  "Vacanze" is similar to "holiday", but in this particular context
  "festività" is the right translation.

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  The Ubuntu.Web plugin exposes a 'formFactor' context property, whose
  value is either "mobile" or "desktop".

  It relies on QGuiApplication::platformName() to determine the so-called "form
factor". With convergence, this approach is flawed, because the same device can
change from a phone to a desktop and back to phone during the lifetime of the
application.
  Form factor is not even a concept that should be used for dynamic layout of
the application.

  This property is not (and has never been) publicly documented, so it
  should be fine to remove it.

  In most cases, where the value of that property was used, we can use one of
the following:
   - wide VS narrow mode
   - presence of a mouse/touchpad/touchscreen/keyboard
   - can a given QML plugin be dynamically loaded

Bug description:
  This affects vivid and (somewhat recently?) 14.09.

  At some point, apps started to request access to
  org.freedesktop.Accounts for something, but I'm not sure what. It has
  been conjectured in this bug that it is due to vibration settings.
  Filing against ubuntu-system-settings for now, but please feel free to
  move to the correct package.

  This happens with webapps:
  Apr  7 08:42:17 ubuntu-phablet dbus[797]: apparmor="DENIED"
operation="dbus_method_call"  bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable" member="Introspect" mask="send"
name="org.freedesktop.Accounts" pid=2632

peer_pid=1596 peer_profile="unconfined"
  Apr  7 08:42:17 ubuntu-phablet dbus[797]: apparmor="DENIED"
operation="dbus_method_call"  bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
interface="org.freedesktop.Accounts" member="FindUserById" mask="send"
name="org.freedesktop.Accounts" pid=2632
profile="com.ubuntu.developer.webapps.webapp-facebook_webapp-facebook_1.0.26"
peer_pid=1596 peer_profile="unconfined"

  and QML apps:
  Apr  7 08:43:40 ubuntu-phablet dbus[797]: apparmor="DENIED"
operation="dbus_method_call"  bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable" member="Introspect" mask="send"
name="org.freedesktop.Accounts" pid=3377
profile="com.ubuntu.calculator_calculator_1.3.339" peer_pid=1596
peer_profile="unconfined"
  Apr  7 08:43:40 ubuntu-phablet dbus[797]: apparmor="DENIED"
operation="dbus_method_call"  bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
interface="org.freedesktop.Accounts" member="FindUserById" mask="send"
name="org.freedesktop.Accounts" pid=3377
profile="com.ubuntu.calculator_calculator_1.3.339" peer_pid=1596
peer_profile="unconfined"

  The following rules allow the requested access:
dbus (send)
 bus=system
 path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
 interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.{Introspectable,Properties}"
 member=Introspect
 peer=(name=org.freedesktop.Accounts,label=unconfined),
dbus (send)
 bus=system
 path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts"
 interface="org.freedesktop.Accounts"
 member=FindUserById
 peer=(name=org.freedesktop.Accounts,label=unconfined),
dbus (send)
 bus=system
 path="/org/freedesktop/Accounts/User[0-9]*"
 interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties"
 member=Get
 peer=(name=org.freedesktop.Accounts,label=unconfined),

  However, the above is too lenient and constitutes a privacy leak for
  apps. FindUserById could be used by a malicious app to enumerate
  usernames on multiuser systems and because we can't mediate method
  data with apparmor, the Get() method can be used to obtain any
  information provided by this interface.

  The following can be used to see what can be leaked to a malicious app:
  gdbus introspect --system -d org.freedesktop.Accounts -o
/org/freedesktop/Accounts/User`id -u phablet`

  This can be solved in a couple of ways:
  1. add whatever information the app is trying to access to a new helper
service that only exposes things that the app needs. This could be a single
standalone service, perhaps something from ubuntu-system-settings, that could
expose any number of things-- the current locale, if the locale changed, if the
grid units changed, the vibration settings, etc. Since this service wouldn't
have any sensitive information, you could use standard dbus
properties/Get()/etc
  2. add a new dbus API to an existing service such that apparmor rules can
then be used to allow by method (eg, GetVibration() or something)

  I won't dictate the implementation except to mention that '1' seems
  like something generally useful and I believe that it was something
  the ubuntu-system-settings devs were already looking at for detecting
  locale changes without rebooting.

  Wait for scope to exit and then refresh it: still not rotated.

  Restart unity8-dash: now it displays rotated.

  I would expect dash toolkit to honor the edited state of a photo and
  display it rotated as appropriate.

  Note:
  Gallery app uses a URI that starts with image://thumbnailer/absPathToPhoto to
display photos with correct rotation. However, scopes require the URI starts
with photo://. Without that, the Open button on the preview does not open the
photo in gallery.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1488877] Re: need a way to dump system status as system is leggy

2015-08-26 Thread Penk Chen
I would suggest Unity8 to expose a dconf key of onScreenshotTriggered
function, so we can easily override the function even in custom tarball,
especially for developer image.

Bug description:
  Something (hard to reproduce) the system is leggy, and we don't know
  why.

  If we got a tool that can dump system status like but not limit to
  list the top 10 process that use most cpu, it might be helpful to
  debug !

  I am not sure if it make sense that we change to screen shot key to
  run certain script to dump system status.

  I made

  https://code.launchpad.net/~ycheng-twn/+junk/dump_phone_status

  as proof of concept. (it only work on ota5 since it have dependency on
  unity8 version)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1475205] Re: Random Chinese character missing in header with 50 GU

2015-07-17 Thread Penk Chen
I can not reproduce this issue in QtQuick.Controls with
ApplicationWindow and toolBar. Test app attached, you'll need qml-
module-qtquick-controls installed of course.

However, this can be easily reproduced in Ubuntu.Components 1.1 with
MainView and Page title, like this:

MainView {
objectName: test
applicationName: com.ubuntu.chinese-font

id: mainView
width: units.gu(50)
height: units.gu(67)
useDeprecatedToolbar: false
Component.onCompleted: pageStack.push(mainPage);
PageStack {
id: pageStack
Page {
id: mainPage
objectName: mainPage
title: i18n.tr(系统设置)
visible: true
}
}
}
