[Touch-packages] [Bug 1713313] Re: Unable to launch pkexec'ed applications on Wayland session
This isn't a bug but a major feature of wayland: If you have root rights you no more get access to the graphical user interface which makes it harder for a gui application to spy on another application's keyboard input. The backdraw of this is that every application that needs root rights for its work has to be re-written to have 2 parts: - the actual gui application and - a small helper that gets root access using pkgkit The second advantage of this security measure is that now no more the whole application that might suffer from security flaws has root access, but only the part that really needs root rights. td;lr: The fact that gui applications no more run when given root rights won't change. It is the applications that have to adapt. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gdebi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1713313 Title: Unable to launch pkexec'ed applications on Wayland session Status in Back In Time: Fix Released Status in Boot-Info: Fix Committed Status in Boot-Repair: Fix Committed Status in GNOME Terminal: New Status in Settings editor for LightDM GTK+ Greeter: New Status in OS-Uninstaller: Fix Committed Status in Y PPA Manager: New Status in apport package in Ubuntu: New Status in apt-offline package in Ubuntu: New Status in backintime package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in budgie-welcome package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in caja-admin package in Ubuntu: New Status in cinnamon package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ettercap package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gdebi package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Status in gnunet-gtk package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in gparted package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in gui-ufw package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in guidedog package in Ubuntu: New Status in hplip package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in italc package in Ubuntu: New Status in laptop-mode-tools package in Ubuntu: New Status in lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nautilus-admin package in Ubuntu: New Status in needrestart-session package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nemo package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in policykit-1 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in scanmem package in Ubuntu: New Status in scap-workbench package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in sirikali package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in synaptic package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in thunar package in Ubuntu: New Status in tuned package in Ubuntu: New Status in ubuntustudio-controls package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in ubuntustudio-default-settings package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in update-notifier package in Ubuntu: New Status in xdiagnose package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xubuntu-default-settings package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in zulucrypt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: * Main upstream discussion & fixes example to deal with wayland: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=776437 * Steps to reproduce: 1. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1746164] Re: Enable Bluetooth-Wifi coexistence by default [bluetooth audio and network skip on Wifi activity]
The user won't probably want to do that: - The new default reduces the Wifi Speed only while bluetooth is actually trying to send (which isn't too often if the user isn't currently listening to Bluetooth audio) and - If Bluetooth/Wifi coecistence isn't enabled Bluetooth (when trying to send on the same frequency as the WiFi) tends to make the Wifi packet impossible to read => The WiFi packet has to be retransmitted => WiFi might get even slower than with Bluetooth-WiFi coexistence enabled. - Also since I have enabled Bluetooth-Wifi coexistence my wifi connection has stopped dropping from time to time => my guess is that if Bluetooth can send while WiFi does, this destroys packets and this happens to happen with every packet for a while the connection WiFi might drop as the Bluetooth one might in this case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746164 Title: Enable Bluetooth-Wifi coexistence by default [bluetooth audio and network skip on Wifi activity] Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: By default BT audio works fine on Ubuntu - if there is no WiFi active: Both work on the same frequency range, 2 WiFi channel is about 20 Bluetooth Channels wide and every time a WiFi package is sent bluetooth risks a packet loss. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1238410] Re: Inconsistent cursor visibility with cursor plugin enabled
Since my duplicate doesn't seem to add Ubuntu vivid to the affected packages and the problem seems to have returned there: How do I mark the bug as "affects ubuntu vivid" here? Or is doing so the Right Thing To Do? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238410 Title: Inconsistent cursor visibility with cursor plugin enabled Status in GNOME Desktop Common Files: Fix Released Status in Gnome Settings Daemon: New Status in Unity: New Status in X.Org X server: In Progress Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” source package in Saucy: Confirmed Status in “unity” source package in Saucy: Invalid Status in “xorg-server” source package in Saucy: Fix Released Bug description: On fresh boots the greeter & desktop may have the cursor visible or may not until mouse is moved.
