Public bug reported:

After updating to Ubuntu 16.04 there was no sound from my laptop. I checked
with aplay -l and other such commands and found that my soundcard has been
detected and the driver for the same is already installed. After this I tried
to remove and re-install pulseaudio but to no avail. Hence I decided to report
bug and on searching for bugs found that pulseaudio has crashed on my system.
Also in sound settings there is no device listed in the play from devices list.
