[Touch-packages] [Bug 1388139] Re: package udev 204-5ubuntu20.7 failed to install/upgrade: postinst segfault

2014-11-11 Thread Søren Bredlund Caspersen
Hi Martin

Do you think there will be a fix for this, or should I just backup and
reinstall the system?
Currently I can't get security updates, or install new packages.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1388139] Re: package udev 204-5ubuntu20.7 failed to install/upgrade: postinst segfault

2014-11-03 Thread Søren Bredlund Caspersen
Indeed, not sure why. Even if udev failed to configure it should still
be unpacked. What's the output of dpkg -s udev | grep Status:?

sc@desktop-ssd:~$ dpkg -s udev|grep Status:
Status: install reinstreq half-installed
sc@desktop-ssd:~$

 Your log now shows:
 /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev: 2: set: Illegal option -t

Can you please show what line 2 is?

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking, but the file
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev
has this as the first couple of lines:

#!/bin/sh -e

PREREQS=

prereqs() { echo $PREREQS; }

case $1 in
prereqs)
prereqs
exit 0
;;
esac

The sed should have changed it to
set -x, if it's something else can you please manually edit it to
 that?

Adding set -x as the second line doesn't change much.
Have tried apt-get install -f, still same error.

2014-11-02 Thread Søren Bredlund Caspersen
I think I may be 'missing' /bin/udevadm ?

Anyway, below follows output of the commands you mentioned. Let me know
if you need anything else.

sc@desktop-ssd:~$ sudo /sbin/udevadm hwdb --update
[sudo] password for sc:
sudo: /sbin/udevadm: command not found
sc@desktop-ssd:~$ cd /sbin/
sc@desktop-ssd:/sbin$ ls -l |grep udev
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root12 Sep 17 17:02 udevadm - /bin/udevadm
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root26 Sep 17 17:02 udevd -
/lib/systemd/systemd-udevd
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 71160 Jul 18 11:48 upstart-udev-bridge
sc@desktop-ssd:/sbin$ cd /bin/
sc@desktop-ssd:/bin$ ls -l |grep udev
sc@desktop-ssd:/bin$

sudo sed -i '2 s/^/set -x/' /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev
sc@desktop-ssd:/bin$

(no output)

  sudo update-initramfs -uv 21|tee /tmp/update-initramfs.out
(file attatched)

sc@desktop-ssd:~$ sudo sed -i '2 s/^.*$//' /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev
sc@desktop-ssd:~$

(no output)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1360885] [NEW] Banshee crashes

2014-08-24 Thread Søren Bredlund Caspersen
Public bug reported:

Banshee crashes seemingly randomly. I don't know if certain files
trigger the crash, but I can reproduce.

I got the error below from the terminal. Let me know if you need me to
get further info:

You need to explicitly set elements to the NULL state before
dropping the final reference, to allow them to clean up.
This problem may also be caused by a refcounting bug in the
application or some element.

Title:
Installing kubuntu-desktop to normal ubuntu ruins unity

Status in “ubuntu-meta” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I installed kubuntu-desktop from the software centre then used kde. Then
when I got back to unity it's a wreck!
The icon theme, the notifications, the fonts were changed. And it's not that
I can change them back. They're the default now. I mean the theme is ambiance
(for example) but ambiance itself is not ambiance now anymore. It's some sort
of an ugly combination.

Also there are glitches like; double click (on the title bar) to
maximise doesn't work anymore. switching workspaces has some glitch
but I can't explain it in words. Also grub is black now and the
ubuntu loading screen (with the five dots below ubuntu) is now
kubuntu. It basically took over everything. I attached some photos
in this question at askubuntu http://askubuntu.com/questions/487815
  /kubuntu-desktop-took-over-everything .

Oh, and it even affects LXDE. For example I cannot change the icon
  theme in LXDE.
