Title:
[USB-Audio - Logitech Wireless Headset, playback] volume slider -
sound audible only from 50% to 100% of the slider position

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After establishing connection with Logitech H800 Wireless Headset via
USB Dongle, the system sound has to be set at the minimum of 50% of
the slider for the sound in the headphones to be audible. Below the
50% volume slider position the sound is completely muted.

  Expected behaviour:
Volume slider properly changing the sound level from 0% to 100% with the
sound being muted at 0% and at maximum level at 100%.

  Bug reported against network-manager
Every time I tried the live Kubuntu 16.04 image on a Lenovo t420 laptop it
requires to enter the wifi password twice before I can use the wifi. Once from
the network icon panel, then second time a prompt on the desktop to enter the
wifi password.

I do not know if this is typical behavior of Kubuntu since I usually use GTK
base desktops.
I guess network-manager is the right package to file this report against.

Eduards - that is most likely a different issue. If you look closer you
will probably find that your network is not even listed in the
networklist. This bugreport is about systems that do not reconnect even
when the network is listed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2015-03-12 Thread Søren Holm
But #13 is not a solution - it's a workaround.

I changed to Debian becasue of this bug. I've never looked back. The bug
has been present for 5 months now.

Btw. is this still occurring in the current 15.04? If it is and it's not
fixed for the release this bug has potential to be present until 15.10
which would be really disappointing for most users.

As state in a previous post: You can change whatever setting you'd like.
It does not have to be the auto-connection setting. You can even
change the IP-allocation policy from DHCP to Manual.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2014-12-28 Thread Søren Holm
The spelling is bad in #32 but the essence is that the problem persists
on Unity, so it is not a desktop related problem (KDE, Unity, etc)

The later comments just state that Debian Unstable works, and since
Ubuntu is based on Debian Unstable that might help people tracking down
what's wrong.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2014-11-17 Thread Søren Holm
Ok - these are the facts while trying out Ubuntu 14.10. I did not try
Kubuntu 14.10 from USB because the steps below results in the exact same
weirdnesses on the Kubuntu 14.10 install I have,

1. Create boot disk - reserve 1GB for storage.
2. Boot the from USB
3. Setup wifi - it connects.
4. Setup that not all users may connect - yes, allow all is the default
setting.
5. Suspend
6. Resume
7. Wifi connects.

This all looks good - and the same thing happens on my installed Kubuntu
when setting up new network connections. But not it gets weird.

8. Reboot on the USB flash
9. Watch wifi - it does not connect.
10. Connected manually - it connects.
11. suspend
12. resume
13. watch wifi - it does not connect.
14. Change any setting in relation to the connection. I changed IPv4 from DHCP
to Link-Local
15. Change the setting back again.
16. Wathc the wifi - it connects.

Hervé - you are right. I works as a software developer and this bug
would clearly be a blocker - meaning that we cannot realease until it's
resolved. Simple John Joe tpye of things must always work. I know little
of any about networkmanager, but given the right instructions I'd be
able to debug it.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1388999] [NEW] gdb is realy slow starting debugging.

2014-11-03 Thread Søren Holm
Public bug reported:

On binaries with a lot of symbols a massive performance degradation has
happened between 14.04 and 14.10

I have bisected the gdb performance degradation to this gdb commit

commit 5840bf271c87c3fc14739173fdc91c6a14057130 (refs/bisect/bad)
Author: H.J. Lu hjl.to...@gmail.com
Date: Wed Jul 16 17:16:24 2014

Properly match PLT entry against .got.plt relocation

Relocations against .got.plt section may not be in the same order as
entries in PLT section. It is incorrect to assume that the Ith reloction
index against .got.plt section always maps to the (I + 1)th entry in PLT
section. This patch matches the .got.plt relocation offset/index in PLT
entry against the index in .got.plt relocation table. It only checks
R_*_JUMP_SLOT and R_*_IRELATIVE relocations. It ignores R_*_TLS_DESC
and R_*_TLSDESC relocations since they have different PLT entries.

bfd/

PR binutils/17154
* elf32-i386.c (elf_i386_plt_sym_val): Only match R_*_JUMP_SLOT
and R_*_IRELATIVE relocation offset with PLT entry.
* elf64-x86-64.c (elf_x86_64_plt_sym_val): Likewise.
(elf_x86_64_plt_sym_val_offset_plt_bnd): New.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2014-10-31 Thread Søren Holm
To sum up.

1. New connections always reconnect.
2. After reboot connections does NOT reconnect.
3. Allowing all users to connect makes auto-connection work even after reboot.

2014-10-25 Thread Søren Holm
That makes me happy and sad at the same time. Happy because this bug is really
annoying and maybe it can get some attention, and sad because it's present in
14.10 and potentially a lot of users will now end up fight to get wireless
connecting.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2014-10-19 Thread Søren Holm
I can add that flipping ipv5 setting to ignore and then back to
automatic makes auto connection work again. I do think that it is
needed for every reboot though. But it's a workaround.

2014-10-10 Thread Søren Holm
Do you have a possibility to try kubuntu 14.10 installed from scratch.
Maybe some upgrade-path related issue is at stake here.

Also - I think this _must_ be resolved for 14.10

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1296420] Re: Pulseaudio makes kde stall for a few seconds during startup

2014-10-09 Thread Søren Holm
Could you please check that the audio-setup in system-setting looks
alright (the correct name of the detected devices etc.). I remember
someone on IRC telling me that it had something to do with that. But
then again I might be wrong...

Pulseaudio makes kde stall for a few seconds during startup

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Quote from this post. :

http://linuxadvantage.blogspot.dk/2013/01/kde-rather-slow-to-start-pulseaudio.html

On many distributions delivering KDE, since version 4.2, I have often
found incomprehensibles slowness between login step and the time the
desktop is fully loaded and usable.

Indeed, we can see unfold normally the KDE's splashscreen and the
desktop appears but in the systray, all the icons are not loaded and
it is not possible to run a program until the startup sound is heard.
This is long seconds (10 or 15 for me) where nothing happens (no
  visible disk access).

After answering on this thread [1] , I opened a bug in KDE and it
appears that the culprit is PulseAudio.

Indeed, it seems that PulseAudio package for KDE brings 2 startup
files instead of one: pulseaudio.desktop and pulseaudio-
  kde.desktop

This often generates a delay to load the desktop caused by the program
that is trying to start twice.

Note that this is not systematic, I guess in some cases, the correct
file is launched before the bad and in this case, there isn't any
  delays.

The solution: Just simply delete the unwanted file to retreive a fast loading
time. This is valid for all distributions.
  - Open a console as root
  - Go to the directory /etc/xdg/autostart
  - Check that you have two files pulseaudio.desktop and
pulseaudio-kde.desktop in this directory.
  - Delete the file pulseaudio.desktop (or rename it to
pulseaudio.desktop.disable if you prefer to keep it)
  - Reboot normally there shouldn't be more delay now caused by PulseAudio to
logon

I believe that should be alright. As long as the audio-setup dialog does
not change appearance with the change it's ok. Alternatively I'll report
back if I notice any changes.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1354924] Re: Networkmanager does not autoconnect to wireless network

2014-09-25 Thread Søren Holm
I reopened the bug since it's still present. My comment above is still
valid, but auto connecting stops working when suspending to ram or
rebooting. So basically the desired behavior can be obtained temporarily
by removing and adding the network in question.
