[Touch-packages] [Bug 1773849] Re: wifi connection to an protected EAP, MSCHAPv2 connection drops constantly

2018-05-28 Thread Willem Hobers
** Description changed:

  Hi all,

My wifi connection disconnects constantly when I am connected to an
eduroam/govroam access point (protected EAP, MSCHAPv2).

  The wifi driver is: rtl8812au-dkms.

  Linux Xubuntu-18-04 4.15.0-22-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 16 12:15:17
  UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

02:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8821AE
  802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter

Symptoms: the (eduroam) wifi-network is found, the wifi connection is
set up, it works for a bit and then the connection is dropped.

If I use my Android phone (which connects fine to the eduroam
connection), to tether my laptop, the connection is fine.

Also my laptop connects flawlessly to my home connection (WPA).

In kern.log I see messages like this (redacted the mac-address):

I have been using 18.04 without problems (and 16.04 before that) until

  Edit: I came across a thread which seems to describe the same problem;

what people are saying there, so it may not be helpful, still:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1773849] [NEW] wifi connection to an protected EAP, MSCHAPv2 connection drops constantly

2018-05-28 Thread Willem Hobers
Public bug reported:

I have been using 18.04 without problems (and 16.04 before that) until
recently; so it seems the problem is recent.

If there is any more information I can provide please let me know.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1765978] [NEW] Xubuntu 18.04: key to switch monitors brings up whiskermenu; can't switch monitor

2018-04-21 Thread Willem Hobers
Public bug reported:

Using Xubuntu 18.04 daily on Notebook
product: 80UD (LENOVO_MT_80UD_BU_idea_FM_Lenovo ideapad 110-15ISK)
vendor: LENOVO
version: Lenovo ideapad 110-15ISK
serial: MP16LZHW
width: 64 bits
Linux Xubuntu-18-04 4.15.0-13-generic #14-Ubuntu SMP Sat Mar 17 13:44:27 UTC
2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

When an extra monitor is connected (through HDMI) pressing fn+f10 should only
bring up a menu to switch monitors. But instead whiskermenu is opened before
the monitor-switching-menu.
No other fn+function key shows the same behaviour where it brings up anything
else before it does what it is supposed to do..
I have the super key mapped to open whiskermenu.

Please see: http://i.imgur.com/t0Jmzy6.png to see what I 'm seeing when
pressing fn+f10.

Actionparsnip suggests I report this as a bug against wayland.

If there's more information I can provide, please let me know.

Is this a bug? If so: which part of the system is likely to be doing
this?

Sean, I can confirm that this fixes the issue for

  - usr/share/xubuntu/applications/Thunar.desktop
  - usr/share/xubuntu/applications/debian-uxterm.desktop
  - usr/share/xubuntu/applications/debian-xterm.desktop
  - usr/share/xubuntu/applications/thunar-settings.desktop
  - usr/share/xubuntu/applications/xfce4-terminal.desktop

Just the message about "vim" remains.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1490349] Re: 15:10 and 16.04: bluetoothd reports "Not enough handles to register service" at start

2017-02-11 Thread Willem Hobers
Just to -perhaps- add to any confusion: when I submit the command "sudo btmgmt
le off" in terminal, I expected the command to simply do its thing (switch off
le) and then return cli to the "waiting for input" status. Well, it doesn't:
when I submit the command and enter my password and press nothing
happens. To get back to "input mode" in terminal I have to press CTRL-C.
(I hope this description makes any sense.)

Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks for your suggestion; happy to try any solution suggestions.

When entering the command I get:

Tried finding more information about this message but couldn't find anything
which seemed relevant.
Any suggestions?

(BTW: just to be clear: still no working connection with the bluetooth
