[Touch-packages] [Bug 1562344] Re: Not working hotkeys for brightness in HP ProBook 640 G2

2017-02-19 Thread Ying-Chun Liu
Verified. It works on HP ProBook. With 3.19 kernel at least. 3.13 kernel
doesn't support the backlight of this machine.
Thanks.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1647283] [NEW] WiFi being detected as ethernet when race condition on renaming for persistent name

2016-12-05 Thread Ying-Chun Liu
Public bug reported:

Forwarded https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=775613

Version: NetworkManager 1.4.2

This bug happens after power-on with probability about 1/50.
That means we need to reboot about 50 times to get into the buggy situation.
"nmcli d" shows the device type is ethernet:

DEVICE TYPE STATECONNECTION
wlp1s0 ethernet unavailable --
lo loopback unmanaged--

The bug starts from a race condition. But it is not the root cause.
I've also attach 2 logs. One is in good situation. Another is in bad situation.
This log is generated by applying a "log patch" to network-manager 1.4.2 so we
can see more stuff.

In the bad situation. The bug starts with race condition. But the race
condition is not the root cause. The race condition is:
 * During the renaming from "wlan0" to "wlp1s0". "wlan0" disappeared.
 * Inside the NM, it is still using "wlan0" in "_linktype_get_type()".
 * Since /sys/class/net/wlan0/uevent is disappeared. so the type matching
failed in _linktype_get_type().
 * Also wifi_utils_is_wifi() failed to because /sys/class/net/wlan0 disappeared.
 * And finally, devtype and kind are both NULL, so it returns
NM_LINK_TYPE_ETHERNET for wlan0.

Later, wlan0 is renamed to wlp1s0, and it seems to me that the Object inherit
the type so it is still type ethernet.
But from the log, I saw _linktype_get_type() is called several times later and
return the correct type (wifi). But just, "nmcli d" still shows type ethernet.

I'm wondering if we are missing to update the type in the Object created
after renaming and re-detecting the type.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1586941] Re: Randomly segfault on BYT with 4.4 kernel

2016-05-30 Thread Ying-Chun Liu
We've tried upstart 1.13.2 from xenial. I download 1.13.2-0ubuntu16 from
Xenial. And re-built it in Trusty chroot (also build all of the reverse
dependencies). However the package doesn't provide /sbin/init. Thus we
cannot use it.

We've tried the workarounds of LP:1447756 but it doesn't work.
Also the test case doesn't crash. So we think this is a new bug.

The bug is also happened on very early stages. And inside the
installer, it crashes more often then the system. We see it core
dumped in the installer, but not about to get the core file because
the squashfs only keeps file in the memory.

Also when run on system, the filesystem seems to be read-only then so
  there's also no logs.

We are using 4.4 kernel (linux-image-4.4.0-22-generic
  4.4.0-22.40~14.04.1)

I'll paste some images and logs after.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1328513] Re: Preview header title truncated

2014-09-18 Thread Ying-Chun Liu
Hi. Where's the link of the spec?
Currently I just remove the maxLineCount:2 in PreviewHeader.
I'd like to read the spec to see what it really is.

I tried to chat with Jmulholland yesterday. Trying to figure out what Mike
means.
I got this link
https://drive.google.com/a/canonical.com/folderview?id=0B8T-xKCA6bikX3M1NllLdjhZYkUusp=drive_web
But also didn't find anything useful there.

Power off dialog box no longer shows restart

Status in Ubuntu UX bugs:

Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
In the last promoted image, r179, the power off dialog displays three
  options:

  * Power off
  * Restart
  * Cancel

In r197, the power off dialog no longer allows the user to restart the
  phone.

Restart should be added back to the power off dialog box.

Note: Not sure why this change was made, it was not a design request

  ---
  Desired resolution:

  - revert this change to add the restart option back to the power off
  dialogue

  - Note that when the phone is more stable we will eventually want to
remove this option, however for now it should stay.
