[Touch-packages] [Bug 1964557] Re: Problem with mobile hotspot.
** Package changed: ubuntu => network-manager (Ubuntu) ** Tags removed: bot-comment ** Tags added: network-manager -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964557 Title: Problem with mobile hotspot. Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi, I use Ubuntu 20.04 LTS version in my VivoBook 15_ASUS Laptop X507UF. I live in a remote area where the only option for Internet is my cell phones network data. I use this mobile internet via Wi-Fi connection. The problem is, if I do not start the mobile Personal Hotspot before starting my laptop the internet connection via Wi-Fi does not work. The Wi-Fi network icon on top right corner comes with a question mark in the middle. The Internet does not come even after I restart the NetworkManager. I get the Internet connection only after I restart my laptop. That means, 1. At first I have to enable Personal Hotspot from my mobile and then 2. I have to start my laptop. Not the other way around. Some times I forget this and I need to restart my laptop over again to get the Internet Connection. I believe this is a bug in the Wi-Fi connection module and also in NetworkManager. I mean restarting the NetworkManager should do the job instead of restarting the whole laptop. Thanks. Is there any workaround. The fix depends on another one that restricts the Date parser to accept only UTC time zones in Release files, though (we do not understand the other ones anyway), and thus might reject some repositories it silently accepted in a wrong way previously (we have not seen anyone report a regression yet since uploading that in June). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1823583] [NEW] Xorg freeze ( also Nvidia freeze (tested) )
Public bug reported: Hi, I have been using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS for 6 years without problem and I decided to renew my operating system to Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with fresh install 5 months ago. When I started to use ubuntu 18.04 LTS, I encountered some desktop freezes randomly. While it was happening, I can heart that my laptop's fan noise was incredibly increasing abnormally at that moment. So I have decided to change my driver from X.org Server to Nvidia (recommended). When I switch my driver from open source graphic driver to proprietary graphic driver, I hoped that the problem might be solved. But after a week, the problem occured again. After that in the same day the same freezes occur continuosly as much as 3 or 4 times. I don't know why it happens. The only thing I know is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was using Unity Desktop, and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is using GNOME Desktop anymore. I tried to alt + f2 and r command to refresh gnome desktop. Also ctrl + alt + f3 for instance, and typing gnome-shell --replace & disown to refresh gnome dektop. They sometimes works, but only if I notice early that the freezes coming. If I miss that moment, the screen completely freezes and neither cursor click nor keyboard input works What should I do? 1) & 2) My system info: = Description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release: 18.04 Ubuntu Software: 3.28.1 = 3) I shouldn't have had to restart my system again, again and again due to desktop freezes. While it happens, session cannot be rescued. It damages my personal / work data on the RAM at that moment. I mean I encountered data loss a lot of times on the gedit or the web browser mostly, while writing or doing something. I was expecting this issue was reported someone in the internet since 5 months. Because of this, I didn't deal with it. But I guess so this is not common issue. Because, there is no patch for it. I am looking details of system update when it has come each time, but no patch there until this now. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1543794] Re: isc-dhcp-server fails to start on second & further attempts with 'Can't open /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases for append'
This is the workaround that I used after upgrading to 16.04: sudo ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd /etc/apparmor.d/disable/ sudo apparmor_parser -R /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.dhcpd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1543794 Title: isc-dhcp-server fails to start on second & further attempts with 'Can't open /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases for append' Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: During the first start of isc-dhcp-server (using the systemd service unit), a blank dhcpd.leases file is created (presumably owned by root:root). dhcpd starts successfully (and then exits due to no subnet definitions, that's expected). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1438682] Re: Shutdown hangs with systemd and NFS mount
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1438612 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1438612 Happens to me as well with 16.04. If I forget to manually unmount all nfs shares before shutdown, it hangs forever. No fstab parameter seems to solve this problem. Any work-arounds? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1438682 Title: Shutdown hangs with systemd and NFS mount Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have the following line in /etc/fstab: 192.168.1.5:/srv/nsf4/main /shares nfs noauto,nofail,x-systemd.automount,_netdev,x-systemd.device-timeout=14,size=32768,wsize=32768 0 0 This works properly in the sense that systemd does not hold up the system when booting, and it does mount the directory upon first access, however the system hangs at shutdown in a manner consistent with systemd shutting down the network before attempting to unmount the drive. Indeed, even when the system is running, I can manually run systemctl stop NetworkManager.service and/or systemctl stop network.target and a call to systemctl status shares.mount shows that the mount is still active. Finally, I will describe the debugging I have done to this point. First, if I manually unmount the share before shutting down, it shuts down immediately. Second, it should be noted that this does not in anyway depend on using the x-systemd.automount option. The same thing happens without automount (or fstab for that matter - simply manually mounting an NFS share and shutting down results in the computer getting stuck on the shutdown screen). I also tried adding additional items to the Require= and After= lines for shares.mount, specifically I tried adding network.target, NetworkManager.service, and wpa_supplicant.service. In each case, I did observe that manually running systemctl stop NetworkManager.service (for instance) now did cause the share to be unmounted, however if I shutdown the computer without manually stopping these services it would still stall on the shutdown screen. I can leave it for over 10 minutes, at which point I manually power it off.
