[Touch-packages] [Bug 1822156] Re: Cannot parse m3u8 playlist

2021-09-21 Thread moma
Hello,

It works noW.
I just noticed that Totem now plays well the m3u8 file.

I have upgraded this Ubuntu 21.10 and also tested Pipewire (pipewiresrc)
as recording source for Gstreamer.

I have no clear explanation why the m3u8 works now.
Maybe the updates?

Thank you.

Just noticed that VLC opens and plays the "radio.m3u8" stream just fine.
(It is the "YLE Puhe" radio channel from Finland)

$ sudo apt install vlc
$ vlc Download/radio.m3u8

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1822156] Re: Cannot parse m3u8 playlist

2021-09-20 Thread moma
Hello,
Yes, it is long time since I filed this report.

I am now using Ubuntu 21.10 (daily version).

I tried to play the file in Totem, but it does not understand the format
(or Gstreamer is missing a plugin for it).

I have installed the ubuntu-restricted-extras package.

I attached a video of my test.

Please tell me if you need additional tests or information.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1815670] [NEW] Ubuntu 19.04: Severe GObject/GType error and crash

2019-02-12 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I am trying to make Audio-recorder to compile and run under Ubuntu 19.04
(Ubuntu Disco Dingo - development branch).

1) A GStreamer bug.

This crash occurs if I run a Gstreamer pipleline on the command line (in
a terminal window). Like this.

$ gst-launch-1.0  -e pulsesrc | fakesink

(gst-launch-1.0:8410): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 21:31:05.365:
../../../gobject/gtype.c:4265: type id '0' is invalid

(gst-launch-1.0:8410): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 21:31:05.365: can't peek value
table for type '' which is not currently referenced
Caught SIGSEGV
Spinning. Please run 'gdb gst-launch-1.0 8410' to continue debugging, Ctrl-C
to quit, or Ctrl-\ to dump core.
--

2) Also, it seems that the same bug causes my audio-recorder program crash.
It happens in all gtk_button_set_image(...) calls during runtime.

gtk_button_set_image(GTK_BUTTON(g_win.recorder_button),
GTK_WIDGET(image));

The error message is:

(audio-recorder:32368): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 19:21:52.600:
../../../gobject/gtype.c:4265: type id '0' is invalid

(audio-recorder:32368): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: 19:21:52.600: can't peek value
table for type '' which is not currently referenced
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Please educate me if you want more debug info or stacktrace.

My system is:
$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu Disco Dingo (development branch)
Release:19.04
Codename: disco

My system has very latest updates.

Any comments?

Well, simple-scan does not detect any scanners because HPLIP crashes due to
its incompatibility with the GNOME-desktop (its systray).

simple-scan is dependent on the printer/scanner drivers.

That is why.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1779237] Re: package python3 3.6.5-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 4

2018-07-16 Thread moma
Hello,
I got the same Python3 upgrade error.

Prior that, I had installed the very latest hplip-3.18.6 from a .run file.
I did also install the hplip-3.18.6-plugin.run file.

Reason for this is another bug in the hplip package.
Please see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hplip/+bug/1714659

The default hplip does not work in Ubuntu 18.04 with the GNOME-desktop
environment.
For example the "simple-scan" application did not start becuse of the
systray error in hplip.

I tried to alleviate this (systray + app exit) error by installing the
hplip from source.
It did not help, but I finally managed to disable the hplip`s use of
systray.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1679535] [NEW] ! Cannot connect to internet in Ubuntu 17.04 (DNS Lookup fails)

2017-04-04 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I think this is a bug in the WIFI-driver or kernel.
Ubuntu is connected to the WIFI (router) box, but it cannot find DNS server to
get to the internet.

I have periodically *serious* problems with WIFI in Ubuntu 17.04.
The network icon shows "connected" to the router and internet, but browsers and
other attempts to get data report DNS error / or not connected.

This happens in all flavours of Ubuntu 17.04 (Ubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME
etc.).

Same laptop with Ubuntu 16.10 works flawlessly.

The connection works fine after I reboot (power off/on) the router box.
Then the bug may return (or may not return) after I turn on my laptop next time.

This laptop is Toshiba Stellite P50 C.
The laptop has Intel Corporation Wireless 3165 (rev 81).

$ lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net; uname -r; ls /lib/firmware/ | grep

Restarting the network.manager does not help.
$ sudo service network-manager restart
Network manager connects (and sees) to the router, but cannot access internet.

Forgot to mention.
I just click below the closed GtkExpander and the click-event seems to dive
down to the listbox. The listbox pops up.

Re-hi,
I may agree with @sudodus,

I cannot remember to have changed language or keyboard during the
installation.
I kept all in default: Language = 'en'

My initial bug was #1612570.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1509702] Re: add-apt-repository adds same repository multiple times

2015-10-26 Thread moma
Re-hi,
I made a small fix to the aptsources module (locally on my laptop).
Aptsources comes from the python-apt package.

$ apt-get source python-apt
$ cd python-apt-1.0.1build1/
$ cd aptsources/

# Edit sourceslist.py file.

# Add a make_unique(self, l) function to the SourcesList class.
# Then call make_unique from the refresh() function.
# This will remove duplicate lines while maintaining sort order of the list.

Please see: http://paste.ubuntu.com/12973347/

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1509702] Re: add-apt-repository adds same repository multiple times

2015-10-26 Thread moma
The add-apt-repository command adds always a new "deb-src" line no
matter if the source is enabled or disabled.

Example:
$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
--
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:audio-recorder/ppa

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
--

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:audio-recorder/ppa

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
# deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/audio-recorder/ppa/ubuntu wily main
--
It seems like the "deb" lines are treated correctly while "deb-src" lines are
duplicated.

The [Remove]-button in the GUI (software-properties-gtk) works fine. It
removes all extra lines.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1509702] Re: add-apt-repository adds same repository multiple times

2015-10-26 Thread moma
BTW:
The --remove option empties both the repository file and its backup copy.
But the empty files remains in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ folder. Is this
correct?

# Our repository files.
$ ls -l /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 207 Out 26 15:41 audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 136 Out 26 15:41 audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list.save
---

# Remove a repository. The empty files remain in the system.
$ sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:audio-recorder/ppa

$ ls -l /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   0 Out 26 15:41 audio-recorder-ubuntu-ppa-wily.list

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1436728] [NEW] Cannot open file: avprobe mis-interprets some file names.

2015-03-26 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I am using audio-recorder to produce some audio files of types .ogg, .flac and
.mp3.

I just discovered that avprobe command cannot open the file names produced by
the recorder. Avprobe mis-interprets the file given as argument.
An example.

$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3

avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
  built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3: Protocol not found
# avprobe output
---

Let's rename 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3 to test1.mp3.
$ cp 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3  test1.mp3

$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty test1.mp3
avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
  built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
[mp3 @ 0x146ad20] max_analyze_duration 500 reached
Input #0, mp3, from 'test1.mp3':
  Duration: 00:04:41.86, start: 0.00, bitrate: 92 kb/s
Stream #0.0: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16p, 92 kb/s
# avprobe output

[format]
filename=test1.mp3
nb_streams=1
format_name=mp3
format_long_name=MP2/3 (MPEG audio layer 2/3)
start_time=0\:00\:00.00
duration=0\:04\:41.861224
size=3.109Mibyte
bit_rate=92.536Kbit/s
...
start_time=0\:00\:00.00
duration=0\:04\:41.861224

And avprobe opens  test1.mp3 fine.
-

Example 2:
$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty 2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg

avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
  built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg: Protocol not found
# avprobe output

Rename it.
$ cp 2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg test1.ogg

And now it works.
$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty test1.ogg

avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
  built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
Input #0, ogg, from 'test1.ogg':
  Duration: 00:00:55.18, start: 0.00, bitrate: 162 kb/s
Stream #0.0: Audio: vorbis, 44100 Hz, stereo, fltp, 160 kb/s
# avprobe output

[format]
filename=test1.ogg
nb_streams=1
...
time_base=1/44100
start_time=0\:00\:00.00
duration=0\:00\:55.183673

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1436728] Re: Cannot open file: avprobe mis-interprets some file names.

2015-03-26 Thread moma
A temporary solution is to use a file: prefix on the filename. Like
this

$ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty
file:2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg

Please see this ffmpeg bug: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/2303

Title:
  Cannot open file: avprobe mis-interprets some file names.

Status in libav package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hello,
  I am using audio-recorder to produce some audio files of types .ogg, .flac
and .mp3.

  I just discovered that avprobe command cannot open the file names produced by
the recorder. Avprobe mis-interprets the file given as argument.
  An example.

  $ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3

  avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
  2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3: Protocol not found
  # avprobe output
  ---

  Let's rename 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3 to test1.mp3.
  $ cp 2015-03-24-21:11:13.mp3  test1.mp3

  $ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty test1.mp3
  avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)
  [mp3 @ 0x146ad20] max_analyze_duration 500 reached
  Input #0, mp3, from 'test1.mp3':
Duration: 00:04:41.86, start: 0.00, bitrate: 92 kb/s
  Stream #0.0: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, s16p, 92 kb/s
  # avprobe output

  [format]
  filename=test1.mp3
  nb_streams=1
  format_name=mp3
  format_long_name=MP2/3 (MPEG audio layer 2/3)
  start_time=0\:00\:00.00
  duration=0\:04\:41.861224
  size=3.109Mibyte
  bit_rate=92.536Kbit/s
  ...
  start_time=0\:00\:00.00
  duration=0\:04\:41.861224

  And avprobe opens  test1.mp3 fine.

  Example 2:
  $ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty 2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg

  avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers

  2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg: Protocol not found
  # avprobe output

  Rename it.
  $ cp 2015-02-20-22:21:25.ogg test1.ogg

  And now it works.
  $ avprobe -show_format -show_streams -pretty test1.ogg

  avprobe version 11.2-6:11.2-1, Copyright (c) 2007-2014 the Libav developers
built on Jan 18 2015 05:12:33 with gcc 4.9.2 (Ubuntu 4.9.2-10ubuntu2)

  # avprobe output

  [format]
  filename=test1.ogg

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1299376] Re: FAAC is missing, libgstfaac.so is not present in any package

2014-08-12 Thread moma
Hello,
I noticed this bug when re-compiling audio-recorder for Ubuntu 14.10.
Ref:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~osmoma/audio-recorder/trunk/view/head:/src/media-profiles.c

I also tried the avenc_aac from the gstreamer1.0-libav package but the
recorded file content (test.aac) got bad.

gst-launch-1.0 -e pulsesrc ! queue ! audioconvert ! audioresample !
avenc_aac compliance=-2 ! filesink location=test.aac

It records, but file content is bad. Maybe it needs other parameters?

Status in “gst-plugins-bad1.0” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  When gstreamer-plugins-bad is built, libgstfaac.so is omitted from
  every package. I tried to build the package manually and it didn't
  help. The library itself is compiled and built, but it is not included

  In previous version of GStreamer libgstfaac.so was present in
  gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse.

  Every software that will try to use FAAC in gstreamer 1.0 will not
  work. :(

Adding an avmux_* after encoder might make the pipeline work.
Obrigado.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1299376] Re: FAAC is missing, libgstfaac.so is not present in any package

2014-08-12 Thread moma
Sorry for spamming you with this, but I want to make the pipeline right.

The pipeline works fine with avenc_aac and avmux_mp4 (or ex. avmux_mov)
:

$ gst-launch-1.0 -e pulsesrc
device=alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo.monitor ! queue !
audioconvert ! audioresample ! avenc_aac compliance=-2 ! avmux_mp4 ! filesink
location=test.mp4

Also the default input-device was by default set to this laptop's internal
microphone (and was impossible to change in sound settings), therefore I use
the device=xxx parameter.
$ pactl list | grep -A2 'Source #' | grep 'Name: ' | cut -d  -f2

What is the right name;
gstreaemer-libav or gstreaemer-plugins-libav?

EOL.
