Bug description:
  [ Impact ]

Window shadows can be seen on adjacent workspaces.

  [ Test Case ]

To reproduce, launch a whole bunch (10, 20, a lot) of windows on
workspace 2, and position them on or near the right edge. Then switch
to workspace 1, and observe the massive black blob on the left of the
  screen.

  [ Regression Potential ]

Any code change to the Unity desktop shell could potentially introduce
  a new crash or lockup.

  [ Other Info ]

The SRU fix for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was cherry-picked from Ubuntu 14.10
where it has been in production use for some time without apparent
  regression.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1299741] Re: Shadows shouldn't wrap around to other workspaces/monitors

2015-01-14 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello Adam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted unity into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/7.2.4+14.04.20141217-0ubuntu1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Attached debdiff between trusty-updates and SRU.

** Description changed:

- I suppose this could be seen as a matter of design opinion but, in my

- right edge. Then switch to workspace 1, and observe the massive black
- blob on the left of the screen. This really doesn't make a whole lot of

Shadows shouldn't wrap around to other workspaces/monitors

Status in Unity 7.2 series:

Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu:

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I suppose this could be seen as a matter of design opinion but, in my
opinion, it's incredibly ugly. To reproduce, launch a whole bunch
(10, 20, a lot) of windows on workspace 2, and position them on or
near the right edge. Then switch to workspace 1, and observe the
massive black blob on the left of the screen. This really doesn't
make a whole lot of sense visually, and it's pretty ugly, IMO.
