[Touch-packages] [Bug 1368874] Re: dbus 1.8.6-1ubuntu1 fails to upgrade on ppc64el vm

2014-09-17 Thread Brad Figg
I wasn't even aware that autotest was adding this init script. I can
look into fixing it up.

As a work around can we just delete the script and try to do your system
update?

As I mentioned in email these tests really need to be run on a freshly
installed system as some of the tests can be destructive and may leave
the system in a bad state. I would not trust simply updating the system
to put it into a right state. I do understand that this is a Virtual
system running on bare-metal that you don't have direct access to.
However, I think you need to work out with the HW owner how to go about
re-provisioning this VM prior to your testing.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1368874] Re: dbus 1.8.6-1ubuntu1 fails to upgrade on ppc64el vm

2014-09-15 Thread Steve Langasek
> insserv: warning: script 'S99autotest' missing LSB tags and overrides
> insserv: warning: script 'autotest' missing LSB tags and overrides

This is not a bug in dbus. The dbus package is merely calling update-
rc.d, which calls into insserv, which expects to be able to order the
init scripts on the system.

In this case, this fails because of an init script which isn't part of
any package, and which lacks LSB dependency information:
/etc/init.d/autotest.

Wherever this script comes from, it should be fixed to include correct
LSB header information so that insserv can correctly calculate the boot
script ordering.

** Package changed: dbus (Ubuntu) => insserv (Ubuntu)
