$ sudo start apparmor ACTION=reload Does not work on 14.04: start: Unknown job: apparmor We need, at minimum, a solution that works on all Ubuntu versions. So far we have been using service apparmor reload with good results. Worked on Ubuntu 14.04 as well as on other distributions. Cannot see any reason why it should be broken on 14.10. The way to reload apparmor on an upstart based system is to do: $ sudo start apparmor ACTION=reload This is covered in the man page.
