[Touch-packages] [Bug 1393442] Re: Xorg freeze
Since I updated BIOS to last version this problem has happened to me 2 times (I also had the same problem with previous version). This is my current BIOS version $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2205 10/09/2014 The odd thing is that Xorg.0.log.old look different in each case. I don't know if they are 2 different problems or if they are related, but from user perspective they look like the same. The problem starts when my mouse pointer starts deleting text (the background keep looking good). It is as if the text under the cursor became transparent. After a few seconds mouse an keyboard stop working. I'm still able to login using SSH. Christopher first of all thanks for your comments. I have upgraded BIOS to the lastest version but I'll need a few days to confirm if the problem persists, because sometimes it happens once or twice a day and some days it does not happen at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393442 Title: Xorg freeze Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Display (both screens), mouse and keyboard freeze. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1393442] Re: Xorg freeze
jpuxan, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97ME/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your BIOS is available (2205). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: trusty ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2205trusty ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-2205trusty ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2205vtrusty ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-2205vtrusty ** Tags added: bios-outdated-2205 trusty ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393442 Title: Xorg freeze Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Display (both screens), mouse and keyboard freeze.
