Public bug reported: Gstreamer calculates an ID for Audio CDs and optionally submits it to MusicBrainz. This enables programs to find the corresponding metadata for a CD on MusicBrainz.
Gstreamer < 1.3.1 doesn't do this correctly for CDs with data tracks, leading to invalid Disc IDs being submitted to the MusicBrainz database. This is reported upstream in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=708991 and fixed in gstreamer 1.3.1. The corresponding patch is supplied as an attachment here. Trusty Tahr is using 1.2.x and there is no new release on that branch. Trusty Tahr is still supported until 2019. It would be really nice if that can be fixed. The bug surfaces as a problem in Rhythmbox because starting with 2.97 this uses gstreamer for MusicBrainz Disc ID handling. ** Affects: gst-plugins-base1.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "patch fixing the issue in gstreamer" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1489816/+attachment/4453764/+files/0001-bug-708991-fix-MB-discids-for-trailing-data-tracks.patch ** Also affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - gstreamer/rhytmbox submits invalid Disc IDs to MusicBrainz + gstreamer/rhythmbox submits invalid Disc IDs to MusicBrainz ** Description changed: Gstreamer calculates an ID for Audio CDs and optionally submits it to MusicBrainz.
