[Touch-packages] [Bug 1516213] Re: Lowering the brightness turns the monitor black in ubuntu 14.04
Roopa, to advise: 1) You don't have to apport-collect more than once, or any further to this report. 2) Please _stop_ marking yourself as "Assigned to", as I mentioned to you in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1516213/comments/21 . Despite this, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product- support/product/inspiron-15-3542-laptop/drivers/advanced an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A08). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1516213] Re: Lowering the brightness turns the monitor black in ubuntu 14.04
Roopa, please don't mark yourself affected unless you are going to be releasing code that fixes this issue imminently (next 24-48 hours). Despite this, you performed an apport-collect against a virtual machine, which is not designed to have the brightness lowered. Hence, you would need to run this on a physical host (not virtual machine), or mark this report at Invalid. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Assignee: Roopa (roopasgundur) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516213 Title: Lowering the brightness turns the monitor black in ubuntu 14.04 Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: whenever the screen brigthness is lowered using the function key the monitor turns black when we are at the lowest point of brightness.
