[Touch-packages] [Bug 1811902] Re: Echo cancelation should be enabled by default
I agree with your point so won't be opening a bug to change the defaults. But it should be easy to enable somewhere in the GUI sound settings at least for specific applications. Video conferencing like appear.in is only really usable with headphones because of this. Adjusting text config files is not a good user experience. And I suspect most people only care about the microphone because of these kinds of uses. According to this: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/issues/196 It's possible for apps to request echo cancelation with 'filter.want =echo-cancel' so maybe this is actually a bug in firefox? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1811902 Title: Echo cancelation should be enabled by default Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Echo cancellation is a basic feature for anything where you are using a video or audio conference. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1811902] Re: Echo cancelation should be enabled by default
I disagree that any modules which modify sound should be used by default. I think the defaults should keep audio in its original raw form as much as possible. However, if you can convince upstream to enable module-echo-cancel by default then Ubuntu would get it by default.
