[Touch-packages] [Bug 1942363] Re: apport-bug unusably broken

2022-07-29 Thread Benjamin Drung
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1967965 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1967965

Thanks for reporting your problems. You ran into two issues:

1. The options are swapped. See bug #1967965. That's why "Other problem"
was actually "Display". And "Other display-related problem" was "I don't
know". Only apport-kde is affected. apport-cli isn't.

2. The question with just "text" is bug #1881640

Note about collecting information: Some information (like the Ubuntu
release version) is always useful. Depending on your choices, more
information will be added (in case of display problem some Xserver
information will be collected).

I am marking this bug as duplicate of bug #1967965.

If you have ideas how to improve the error reporting or how to improve
reporting bugs manually, don't hesitate to open another bug report for
it.

apport-kde: "Other problem" and "Display" options are swapped

Title:
  apport-bug unusably broken

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
For a regarding LibreOffice Calc, I started apport-cli in order to
  submit a bug report.

Attached picture #1 shows the second screen of apport. I'm not
reporting a display problem, but I've chosen "Other problem" before.
And "I don't know" isn't exactly the correct option, "Neither of
  those" would be more accurate.

Picture #2 shows the collection of information. There isn't really
anything to collect in my case, so I'd rather not have apport attach
  random data.

Picture #3 shows the result of the collection. No idea. Pressing
Cancel yields another one of those windows.

How are we supposed to submit bug reports? Especially since the link
to manually report a bug is buried in very long list of things that
could go wrong on a random web page.

Kindly fix apport-cli so that bug reporting is possible (or make
  manual reporting easier).
