Title:
Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron BETA - Sound heard through Speakers but NOT
  through Headphones

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Just installed Hardy Heron BETA. I'm able to hear sound through my Dell
Vostro 1400 laptop in-built speakers right away after installation. But when i
connected headphone, I didn't hear sound through the headphone (not through
speakers too).
Installed linux-backports-modules-2.6.24-12-generic, but then too i could
not hear any sound through headphones.

Below is the hardware and module information.

Controller (rev 02)

If someone points me in the right direction, I can work on fixing it
