Title:
ubuntu-bug lacks an option for collection stack trace of running
  process (infinite loop analysis)

Status in apport package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Wishlist: When ubuntu-bug is asked to send a bug on PID, it should
check whether the PID shows symptoms of being in an infinite loop and
if so, include stack trace of the process to the bug report or ask the
user whether he would like to include details needed for retracing in
  the bug report.

In many cases simply sending SEGV signal to the process does indeed
manage to generate retraceable coredumps when
/proc/sys/kernel/core_pattern points to apport, but such SEGVs can be
  masked for several reasons.

Bug 986774 is an example of a bug report which would benefit from
having this kind of feature in apport/ubuntu-bug - in that case
pasuspender seems to be masking the apport SEGV handling.
