[Trac] Developer Guide ?

2007-07-23 Thread cl

Hi,

Is there a developer guide for Trac somewhere ?

We are starting development on Trac and are looking for a guide which
explains the step in order to create a new plugin, how to structure the
folders, etc.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Best regards,

And how all the templates like about.cs, anydiff.cs, header.cs, ticket.cs

[Trac] Re: Slightly OT - Trac RSS in igoogle?

The catch is that our Tracs live on authenticated HTTPS port and require
 login for access.

I don't know whether iGoogle supports authentication. igoogle works
fine with a public Trac web site (such as trac.edgewall.org) though.

Anyway, isn't that weird to potentially give Google the credentials to
access a password-protected private web site?

Cheers,
Manu

We would like to define different workflow according to the type of the
ticket, for example a 'bug' ticket would have a different workflow than
 an 'user requirement' ticket.

You'll need to start with 0.11dev's workflow support and write a plugin to
augment or maybe replace the provided workflow component.

[Trac] Re: Where is HDF for http://trac.edgewall.org/

2007-07-23 Thread Jason Winnebeck

I think you are misunderstanding things. The implementation that Trac
uses for templating its web pages is unrelated to the data stored in it.
You can take your database that is used for 0.10 (where Trac used
Clearsilver) and use it in 0.11 (where Trac uses Genshi), given that you
upgrade the database if you were using a version earlier than 0.10.4.
The fact that Trac migrated from Clearsilver to Genshi doesn't have
anything to do with tickets or data stored in the Trac environment.

[Trac] Re: trac(k) user activity

Well IRequestFilter would be a start. Depending on your level of
insanity you can probably do a lot by subclassing/altering the normal
TimelineModule.

Does this feature exist? If not, is there a plugin that does it? If
not how hard would it be to create one

Given that the timeline data API does include a user field, this is
possible, but you would need to make your own plugin.

Can you please give me a starting point? Something like you have to
implement this interface and that one?

 Thanks, Noam.

[Trac] Showing Affected Project in Timeline

2007-07-23 Thread Jason Winnebeck

If we look at trac-hacks.org site, you can see in the timeline which
project (plugin) was modified in a changeset, with a header at the
beginning. Is this done at the SVN hook level or is it a plugin for
Trac; or, how can I achieve the same effect in my Trac? I have a similar
setup where I have top-level directories in the repository relating to
different projects/modules. It would be cool if I made a commit:

M /ProjectABC/trunk/src/file.txt
Fixed a typo

That in Trac it would display as ProjectABC: Fixed a typo similar to
how it occurs in trac-hacks. I figure since all the messages in
trac-hacks follow this form that there must be an automated method.

Any suggestions on the best approach?

Jason

I don't know how trac-hacks is setup, but I have something similar setup here.
In my case, it's a subversion pre-commit hook that modifies the log in the
transaction.

[Trac] Queries that include custom fields

2007-07-23 Thread Jen

Our Trac workflow includes a custom field Workflow State. It
provides a lot more detail in our process than the Status field, so we
ignore the status field. We would like a report or custom query that
includes the workflow_state field from the ticket_custom table. I've
tried numerous SQL commands to create this report but cannot come up
with the right combination. I was able to create a custom query that
includes the Workflow State in a column, but I could not find a way to
delete the Status column from the results.

Is there a way to do either of these?

Jen

[Trac] SpamFilter configuration help/examples wanted

2007-07-23 Thread Christopher Arndt

Hi all,

I'm having a hard time to understand the SpamFilter plug-in
configuration and getting the plug-in to work, since it's hard to come
by any comprehensive, up-to-date documentation. I searched this list,
google, the trac wiki, peeked into the source and read Managing trac
spam [1] but I'm none the wiser :-(

First, I could not get the normal SpamFilter plugin (rev 5517) to work
with trac 0.10.3 or 0.10.4. The spamfilter configuration section just
did not show up in the WebAdmin, even though I enabled all plugin
components on the plugin page.

So I tried the spamfilter-captcha variant (rev 4731). This worked
insofar I can now see the configuration pages in the WebAdmin. From the
messages in the log file, I concluded that I needed to install
dnspython, spambayes and PIL with easy_install as well, which I did.

- How do I configure this thing now? I don't see any configuration for
the Captcha plugin in the WebAdmin, except setting the karma points for it.

- I don't see any captcha fields in the ticket pages. Screenshots or
example sites anybody?

- Can anybody show me an example of the spamfilter settings in his
configuration file?

- What are good values for the karma points?

Any pointers appreciated.

Chris

[Trac] Re: Slightly OT - Trac RSS in igoogle?

2007-07-23 Thread John Williams

Hi Emmanuel,

Emmanuel Blot wrote:
The catch is that our Tracs live on authenticated HTTPS port and require

I don't know whether iGoogle supports authentication. igoogle works
fine with a public Trac web site (such as trac.edgewall.org) though.

Anyway, isn't that weird to potentially give Google the credentials to
access a password-protected private web site?

I was hoping that this was all happening client (browser) side, so no
credentials would be cached or even handled by google - just the
browser.Seems I was wrong.

Thanks,

John

[Trac] Re: Mirroring a trac site

Can I just rsync over the data? I don't mind the mirror being read
only (infact, it's prefered for simplicity).

You can, but it's not advised; you might end up with corrupted databases.
Better to do:
 trac-admin trac-env path hotcopy /backup/dir/

and then rsync the /backup/dir/.

Actually, turns out this is a FAQ (#11 in the Installing and Running
section), and has a page dedicated to it:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracBackup

[Trac] Re: Mirroring a trac site

2007-07-23 Thread Michael Renzmann

Hi.

You can, but it's not advised; you might end up with corrupted databases.
 Better to do:
  trac-admin trac-env path hotcopy /backup/dir/

 and then rsync the /backup/dir/.

One thing to take care of would be to disable modification permissions for
users on the mirrors. Otherwise changes done to a mirror will get lost,
which would be pretty annoying for the users at least.

I once started to work on a script that creates a set of static html pages
out of a Trac installation. It took care to remove references to the
interactive pages (such as new ticket or custom query). Unfortunately
the development stalled, but it's not off my to-do list yet, as the
problem as such (the need to mirror our trac site) still exists :)

Bye, Mike
