Honestly , it is hard for me to answer this question . There might be
many details involved in the process depending on

  - target DC
  - installed plugins
  - data
  - topology
  - ...

if the application layer is agnostic to the network layer (<= and
that's a rhetoric statement ;) and configuration does not rely upon
IPs then afaik changing values should be ok , as long as names et al,
will be resolved correctly . cmiiw

need to take care of so request your attention in this regard and if

Get yourself a system capable of running Trac 1.0.1 on Python2.5 at

[Trac] problem installing trac

2013-05-30 Thread Tim Dunphy
Hello list,

I'm attempting to install trac via packages on centos 5.9. I've installed
the following package:

trac-0.10.5-3.el5.noarch

But when I attempt to initialize my first environment with the following
command I get an error:

[root@cloud:~] #sudo trac-admin /var/www/svn/jf-trac initenv
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/trac-admin", line 21, in ?
from trac.scripts.admin import run
ImportError: No module named scripts.admin

I've googled the error a bit and found some advice that said this may be an
error relating to the PYTHONPATH variable. So I set that variable to what I
believe should be the correct value for my system, yet the error persists.

[root@cloud:~] #echo $PYTHONPATH
/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages

[root@cloud:~] #ls -l /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages | grep trac
drwxr-xr-x 11 root root4096 May 30 14:09 trac

[root@cloud:~] #rpmquery -i python
Name: python Relocations: (not relocatable)
Version : 2.4.3 Vendor: CentOS
Release : 56.el5Build Date: Wed Jan 9 06:52:44
2013
Install Date: Mon Feb 25 13:52:27 2013 Build Host:
builder10.centos.org
Group : Development/Languages Source RPM:
python-2.4.3-56.el5.src.rpm
Size: 74377License: PSF - see LICENSE

So I believe I've set the correct environment variable. I'd appreciate any
advice anyone may have on how to proceed.

Thanks!
Tim

I'm aware of two plugins [1][2], that both use different Trac
MacroProcessor syntax for defining working HTML forms in any input field
(textarea) supporting WikiFormatting. Each has different strengths and
weaknesses, you may want to evaluate on your own [3].

Ask away for more information as required.

Re: [Trac] Re: Sqlite crashing after upgrade from 0.11 to 1.0

2013-05-30 Thread Mete Kural

Hello there,

Thank you for the tips. I examined the pysqlite documentation a
little more and figured out that I shall install the latest Windows
executable of pysqlite which will automatically fetch a recent
version of SQlite. So I downloaded pysqlite-2.6.3.win32-py2.5.exe
(as I have Phython 2.5 installed) from here:
http://code.google.com/p/pysqlite/downloads/list

The installer detected my Python directory properly and completed
the installation. Now when I run import trac.db.sqlite_backend as
sql and check for sql.sqlite_version, sql.have_pysqlite, and
sql.sqlite.version, I get these results respectively:

(3, 7, 6, 2)
2
'2.6.3'

And I did not really run these commands at any point:

 $ mv trac.db trac-old.db
 $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/sqlite-3.2.8/lib
/opt/sqlite-3.2.8/bin/sqlite3 \
 trac-old.db .dump | \
   LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/sqlite-3.3.4/lib
/opt/sqlite-3.3.4/bin/sqlite3 trac.db

Trac seems to be running fine , even after restarting the physical
server. So do you think I properly upgraded SQlite/Pysqlite for
Trac? It seems to me to be so but not having run the above commands
leave doubt in my mind. Let me let Trac run like this for a few days
and see if it ceases to crash any more or not.

Thanks,
Mete

I have never run that procedure, but it sounds like you need
to install the tools. Note in the previous section on "Upgrading
SQLite from 2.x to 3.x" says "install both SQLite 2.8 and SQLite
3.x". So I think we can be fairly sure that installation of the
SQLite tools is required.

Re: [Trac] Using TRAC for Hardware Issues?

2013-05-30 Thread Branson Matheson
Yes ..

 - You need to find a way to uniquely define a host that's easy to remember ..
and that persists regardless of the hosts location or hostname .. service tag …
Equipment Control Number .. etc..

 - You want to put it in a field to make it findable. Tags is a good way to do
this… and I wrote some scripts to check tags for things that look like
hostnames and make sure they're correct and if not .. flag the ticket.

 - We're looking to integrate this with Zenoss's database of our systems ..
some interesting fun there.. but similarly could be integrated with Nagios ..
the key is to have a 'key' value that is persistent and consistant.

 - We added 'qa' as a workflow for the originator to approve the repair.. this
way we get feedback that things are complete.

 - We added auto-expiration for said return-to-service testing .. cause users
are lazy.

 - I used the 'WikiRegex' plugin to make all FQDN's for our internal site..
into wiki pages. THis gave us an easy way to create linkable pages with ticket
information, per-host information .. etc. ( eg .. ipcontrol.control.atol is
autolinked as a wiki page )

 - I used email2trac to route inbound requests for service to the proper
'queue' .. where a queue is defined by a particular Milestone and Component.
THis is also useful for systems that create an email based alert for a
particular problem ( say .. Raid controller that mails when there's a failure
of a member ) .. we can route it right into Trac and create a service ticket
for it.

I am working to release a configuration of 'trac' with a set of plugins that
turn it into a really nice centralized information repository for a site. If
you're interested.. lemme know and I'll send you some info and a sanatized
trac.conf and list of plugins .. etc.
