 As is described in http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracLinks you refer
 to an issue using the form #N (e.g. #1) and to SVN changesets using
 the form rN (e.g. r1).

 And you can use wiki markup both in changeset comments and issue descriptions.

Or maybe this is what your are asking for?

 developers. Adding comments is also okay. But fields like milestone,
 component, version, type and priority shall be greyed out an not
 editable. Those options are set by the project admins and fix.

Have you seen this? http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/BlackMagicTicketTweaksPlugin

 I read the docu on the trac site and looked through the trac hack
 plugins. But I doesn't get further with the available stuff. Maybe
 I've read to much and got blind by all the text.

 So, is there an easy way to accomplish my task without for example
 coding a new plugin or something?

 Thanks in advance

 I do not think this is supported, nor do I see how this would work... I
 guess it would need to be done when you `Create` the ticket but you will
 end up with lots of 'the's and 'and's in the keywords?

   Also i need to make the owner field drop down with only 4-5 selected
   usrs. I know restricted_owner to true will make it drop doown but i
   dont want all the users in DB do appear in drop-down option only
   selected 4-5 users.

 Sorry, I do not think this is available either. Have you looked at
 trac-hacks.org for a plugin? There is a black magic ticket tweaks plugin
 that does lots of things but I have never needed it (yet).

 Could he add another action to the workflow with a dropdown populated with
his users? So have two assign to actions, one with free text and one with
his populated users?

 I know it finds the blockdiag program (the one I can run by hand)

 Default Trac does not support the ability to just view your own
 tickets, but not tickets of others. If you have such a feature, it is
 provided through a permission policy plugin.

 I suggest you look at About Trac as admin and look at list of
 installed plugins, and then try to look at open issues for relevant
 plugins if possible.

 If you don't figure something out, then perhaps share details of your
 Trac version, your plugins, and relevant parts of configuration and
 permission policies. Perhaps then someone may understand enough to
 actually help you.

  that should not be a problem cause there are two different things.
  close is the transaction from one state to the other and
  Close is a state.
  haven't ever had problems with that.

  best,
  pascal

 ...well spotted Erik, I think I agree. Pascal, if you read
 http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracWorkflow#BasicTicketWorkflowCustomizat
 ion

 ...near the end of that section is the following:

 {{{
 There are a couple of hard-coded constraints to the workflow. In
 particular, tickets are created with status new, and tickets are
 expected to have a closed state. Further, the default reports/queries
 treat any state other than closed as an open state.
 }}}

 ...so you just need to rename your `Closed` state to `closed` (and
 possibly update your backend dB tables, check out
 http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracDev/DatabaseSchema) to UPDATE the
 status value. Then Trac will recognise your tickets as closed and
 should show them crossed out.

You could hack some css to fix the strike through problem, but I would
recommend doing it right way, as Mark says, since you may have other side
effects if not having a closed state.

Cheers / Erik

   I see what it was implemented in r4775. (
  http://trac.edgewall.org/changeset/4775)

   I'm using trac 0.12 version but I can't see any modification or I do
   not understand how it works.

   What am I misinterpreting here?

   Thanks in advance.

  When I click through to a ticket from a report, I get three links top
  right, just under the 'NavBar' (the one with 'timeline' and 'roadmap' in
  it). They are: Previous Ticket Back to Query and Next Ticket, is
  this what you mean?

  ~ mark c

 Ok, I know what that option exists, but I need to do 2 clicks (save
 ticket, scroll to the top and click in Back to Query link).
 I think what a Save and back to query button could offer one more
 direct access.

 Just a suggestion.

 Something like typeof(value) as in javascript whould be really useful.

 Concerning the differences in time handling when upgrading from 0.11.4 to
 0.12.1
 i struggle with two more SQL expressions that don't give the expected
 results anymore:

 1. calculate the difference between now and the ticket changetime and
 compare it
   with a number (of days)

   ((julianday('now') - julianday(changetime, 'unixepoch'))  31)

 2. calculate the difference between now and a given date (e.g. ticket_due)

   round(julianday('now') - julianday(strftime(%s, ('2011-01-14'),
 'unixepoch')) as days

 I tried out a similar syntax as in report 23 [1] on the edgewall site, but

 (SELECT ((time.now * 100 - changetime) / 100.0) AS delta

 resulted in an execution error: Report execution failed: no such column:
 time.now

 Right now, i don't have a clue what i'm missing :-/

 There's a catch however, if you wrote the new query that way, like I
 initially tried:

 sqlite select * from tc
 where tc.time / 100
 between strftime('%s','2011-01-31')
 and strftime('%s','2011-02-05');

 (no results!)

 But:

 sqlite select * from tc
 where tc.time / 100
 between strftime('%s','2011-01-31') * 1
 and strftime('%s','2011-02-05') * 1;
 12966048
 12966912

 Go figure ;-) That's why we all love SQL, don't we?

 Actually I suppose it's an autoconversion issue. With the old scheme,
 conversion from strftime()'s string output to
 integer was done transparently whereas now with bigger integer values it
 seems it needs some help. With an explicit
 cast, it would work as well:

 sqlite select * from tc
 where tc.time / 100
 between cast(strftime('%s','2011-01-31') as integer)
 and cast(strftime('%s','2011-02-05') as integer);
 12966048
 12966912

 Tested with SQLite 3.6.21 and 3.7.4 on Windows.

   Hello,

   If i understand truly, i must set up trac like an apache server on a

   Thus i do not have an idea about how to set up a trac server.
   I googled it a bit but found nothing so far.

  You can run tracd without installing apache and everyone still

 when i enabled DEBUG level logging to $ENV/log/trac.log during the

 apache.apache (user.group) and lamp cannot read or write that file
 once it's been appended by apache. so all commands fall over for user

 i need to understand how i can sort out the permissions between these
 two users - the lamp user is on an nfs file system where apache has no

 if anyone has any comments on what i should do they'd be most welcome

Check your umasks and fix your file/folder permissions?

Add user lamp to group apache?

 that's great, I also did have Hg integration working (after the

 when i pull, i now get this:

 my suspicions are with file permissions. i get not found errors with a

 Trac [/var/www/trac/myproject]

Try: trac-admin /var/www/trac/Hood repository list
(syntax is: trac-admin $ENV repository list)

 but this works just fine if i log in as root!

 if i can resolve this i suspect the Hg integration will be OK too
 (after all it worked briefly and the plugin is installed and all
 trac.ini settings are in place)

 so where should i start looking?

 Is there a way to make it so that it will only show valid users who have

 I'm using an older version of Trac: 0.11.5 ... not sure if that has

 It's not reasonable that the log folder is empty if set to debug.
 Make sure the trac.conf has this section:
 [logging]
 log_file = trac.log
 log_level = DEBUG
 log_type = file

And do check in the logs that the plugin is loading/loaded.

 Thank you Erik. Trac version is 0.12 on a Linux Ubuntu 10.04

Note that the FlashEmbedMacro is a 0.11 version. I've not upgraded to 0.12

  Is the plugin loading? Anything else useful in the logs?b (

 Ok, so I've enabled file logging and it works the file starts with

 Since is long I grep it, and I've no results. So you're right the plugin
 is not loading.

 $ grep -i flash trac.log
 $

 Btw, in the original post I had a spelling error, that I then fixed.

  [components]
 - racflashembed.macros.embedmacro = enabled
 + tracflashembed.macros.embedmacro = enabled

Did you also have this spelling error in trac.ini? If so, did you restart

 Ok, so now we know the problem. The plugin is not loading. What should I
 do to make it load? Sorry, this is the first Trac plugin I'm trying to

 Trac links.

 I expect when I go to View Tickets to see all not closed tickets ordered
 by ticket Id. Instead I see all not closed tickets ordered by Priority. Am I
 doing something wrong?

 I would also like to remove the column Milestone and in its place put
 Ticket date. How could I do that?

 Used binary installers to install all of the above. While setuptools

 Apache server root is at C:\Apache\httpd,
 Subversion repositories are at C:\Repositories,
 Python is installed at C:\Python,
 Genshi is installed at C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\genshi,
 Trac is installed at C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\trac,

 Question #1: Starting with Trac 0.11 the webadmin plugin for trac-
 admin is supposedly integrated into Trac, so what URL is required to
 start the webadmin plugin? How is the URL configured in the httpd.conf
 file?

 Question #2: Does the Apache httpd.conf file need to be edited to

 changes need to be made to the httpd.conf file?

You need to be TRAC_ADMIN to get the Admin-button available. (

 Installing Genshi¶

 Correct version of Genshi =
 http://ftp.edgewall.com/pub/genshi/Genshi-0.5.1.win32-py2.5.exe

 Unzip to a folder and then from that folder run python setup.py
 install in a command window
 Then start command line for Genshi installation.)

You should read the installation instructions matching what you downloaded.
Since you downloaded a binary installer, see:
http://genshi.edgewall.org/wiki/Documentation/0.5.x/install.html#id3
And while you're at it, there is a newer version of Genshi available, maybe
you should get that instead?
http://genshi.edgewall.org/wiki/Download#Installers

 Installing Trac¶
 ...

  cd C:\src
  svn checkout http://svn.edgewall.org/repos/trac/branches/0.11-stable
  cd 0.11-stable
  python setup.py install

C:\src = the path where you want to download (via svn checkout) the Trac
source. If you want to checkout code via svn you first need to install svn.
Why are you downloading an old release of Trac?

 Yes, this option sounds nice! I can borrow code from trac-post-commit

 The problem is that sometimes users forget to add ticket reference in
 commit messages... Then I probably have to parse ticket logs, which
 makes my mission difficult, since comments may mention revisions that
 are not necessarily relate to my ticket.

We enforce supplying a ticket number first thing and checks that in
pre-commit. Commit messages always must look like: # message With
that a script to get all relevant commits should be easy.

 leave = * - *
 leave.default = 1
 leave.operations = leave_status

 resolve.operations = set_resolution
 resolve.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY
 review = new,accepted,assigned,reopened - reviewing
 review.operations = set_owner
 review.permissions = TICKET_MODIFY

 But I can't change the assigned person in the reviewing state unless I
 first select accept to get ownership which makes it leave the
 reviewing state, and then set reviewing action and assign to an owner
 at that time.

 Basically the workflow wanted is like this:

 - someone opens a ticket
 - ticket is assigned to a developer to do work
 - developer does the work and is available as a patch or discussion in
  ticket or in a svn branch.
 - developer somehow notes in trac that this work is now ready for review
 - someone assigns the review item or someone takes it (so now has new
  owner)
 - may then go back to the developer to change or modify as needed and
  then back to reviewer

 What do you use for your workflow for a review state in your trac.ini?

This is another problem than your first post? I'd suggest you reply to

 Then I click on View Tickets in the toolbar. Then I have to click on a

 This whole workflow feels clunky, but I am not seeing what else to do.
