Re: [Trisquel-users] Help me get rid of the last proprietary component of my OS, the b43 driver
OpenFWWF only works with just a few older Broadcom cards, namely AirForce wlan chipsets: * BCM4306 * BCM4311 revision 1 * BCM4318 * BCM4320
Re: [Trisquel-users] /home does not mount after suspend
Rather modify the ones at /etc/pm/sleep.d If both directories contain a similar named file, the one in /etc/pm/sleep.d will get preference.
Re: [Trisquel-users] /home does not mount after suspend
apm was the older thing before acpi, you probably don't need that.
Re: [Trisquel-users] /home does not mount after suspend
Reading this http://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/1802 suggests that the mmc module has a removable parameter that might come handy. Note however that if you should eject the card while suspending, bad things will happen. Try sudo modinfo -p mmc You can set the parameters in /etc/modprobe.d or as kernel parameters in GRUB.
[Trisquel-users] Connecting a Lego Mindstorms NXT brick via Bluetooth
I'm trying to connect a Lego Mindstorms NXT brick to my computer with Bluetooth. Windows computers I've tested can see and connect to the brick just fine, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the brick or the Bluetooth transmitter. When I plug the transmitter in, a setup icon with the Bluetooth logo appears on the panel. If I click it, there is an option to set up a new device. And the computer can see the brickāit shows up in the list of devices. But when I try to establish a connection (even with the PIN set to the correct 1234), I am asked to enter a PIN on the brick. This is impossible; the brick has no input methods for entering a PIN. So, how can I get this thing to work with free software?
[Trisquel-users] Startup Disk Creator fail: An uncaught exception was raised: Invalid version string 'GNU/Linux'
I've tried with two different USB sticks, three different .iso images, and on two different machines running Trisquel 6. Each time, the following error: An uncaught exception was raised: Invalid version string 'GNU/Linux' Looks like it's an ubuntu bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1068332 http://askubuntu.com/questions/173615/an-uncaught-exception-was-raisedinvalid-version-string-gnu-linux-when-creat http://askubuntu.com/questions/162760/startup-disk-creator-uncaught-exception-error [the fix suggested here did not work for me] SHould I install unetbootin, or is there another way?

Re: [Trisquel-users] best thinkpad x60 wifi card
thanks for clarification about the non-free bluetooth driver. I got a AR5B97 AR9287 card for cheap at ebay. it is getting warm too, but far from the hot temerature with the intel card. It needs some custom modification though because it's a half size card and the laptop is made for full size cards.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Startup Disk Creator fail: An uncaught exception was raised: Invalid version string 'GNU/Linux'
successfully used the command line method sudo dd if=/path/to/image.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=8M;sync easier tbh :) thanks!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Help me get rid of the last proprietary component of my OS, the b43 driver
Oh, I didn't know that. Anyway, I recommend the TP-Link TL-WN722N, version 1. When I got it (last month) it was the only version. If it still is, then you should be safe, since it uses AR9271+AR7010. However, you need the open-ath9k-htc-firmware package.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Help me get rid of the last proprietary component of my OS, the b43 driver
Those of us who keep their Trisquel 6 up to date (and have not removed trisquel-base) already have that package installed. See my previous message: https://trisquel.info/fr/forum/help-me-get-rid-last-proprietary-component-my-os-b43-driver#comment-48932
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trouble with sound
I know this is an old thread, but I'm resurrecting it because my sound has just stopped working again, and this time neither rebooting nor restarting pulseaudio fixes it. I installed pavucontrol, but it told me nothing.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Display Resolution Problem on Toshiba Sat L830
Thanks Guys, apologies delay, not online at home. MB: 'Display Resolution' in 'Settings' only has 4:3,: When scrolling down 'Resolution' nothing else appears (worked in Linux Mint though). Will try to find out what my video card is Lembas: Thanks for that, will try to get some help to look into it as never used a Terminal before. On other thing, when using Libre Office Writer the spell check doesn't work - is there anything simple I can do to rectify this. Appreciate your time help Guys, thank you
[Trisquel-users] Re : Display Resolution Problem on Toshiba Sat L830
For the spell-checker, try running the Language Support utility in the System settings. As lembas wrote, you can idebtify the precise graphical chipset you have by typing, in a terminal, the following line (+ the [Enter] key): $ lspci | grep VGA Guessing from the problem you face, the answer will probably be an AMD chipset, the most problematic ones...

Am i missing a trick that i'm not aware of? have any of you made that combination (GNOME+slime)?. Thanks in advance :)
