Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
Elemental OS is simply bizarre because of this. I don't get it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 Nouveau drivers
Thanks for your help. I couldn't get it working and trying the fixes kept me going further down the rabbit hole. I just installed Trisquel 6 and everything is working great.
Re: [Trisquel-users] External Hard/Flash Drives in 7 Not Shown
A.Update and reboot solved that issue! Now how do I edit the topic to reflect this?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Where is abrowser 31 for 64bit?
Building the amd64 versions does not require special treatment. Meanwhile, you can use IceCat, which is updated to version 31.
[Trisquel-users] Where is abrowser 31 for 64bit?
My 32bit machines received the abrowser 31 update a couple of days ago, but I was surprised to see that my 64bit machines stayed with version 30. Now I see by looking at the following page that the update doesn't seem to exist (yet) for amd64: http://packages.trisquel.info/toutatis-updates/web/ Is this some bug in the build process, or building the amd64 version requires some special treatment?
[Trisquel-users] External Hard/Flash Drives in 7 Not Shown
Hello. It seems that external hard/flash drives are not recognized in my Trisquel 7 installation. Is there something I can do to remedy this?
Re: [Trisquel-users] I accidently removed the battery indicator from my task bar
To remove these, hover your cursor over the offending applet, hold down the super (windows) button and the alt button, then right click. You should have two options: Move or Remove from panel. Give that a try.
Re: [Trisquel-users] I accidently removed the battery indicator from my task bar
Thanks wpurcell; it worked! I now find myself in a slightly ridiculous situation. In the "Add to Panel" program, I saw something called "Indicator Applet Complete". I was pretty sure that I didn't need it ... but I was curious. So I clicked on it. I now have: a) three wifi buttons b) two battery indicators c) three volume selectors d) a power button (that I don't think I had before --and don't need), and e) three digital clocks. I have no idea how to get rid of these extras ...

Re: [Trisquel-users] I accidently removed the battery indicator from my task bar
Hello muhammed! Perhaps try right clicking on the task bar. Click "Add to Panel", then click "Indicator Applet" or "Indicator Applet Complete".

How can I bring it back? I'm using Trisquel 7 by the way
Re: [Trisquel-users] Will a usb headset work in Trisquel?
I have a Logitech G35 USB headset which works great with Trisquel. That's the only USB headset I've tried so I don't know how well other headsets work.

[Trisquel-users] Will a usb headset work in Trisquel?
Hi, I need to buy a usb headset for school, and as far as I can tell there should be no problem with just a simple logitech headset working with Trisquel right?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Removing services not needed - Need advice
Sorry, I am not using Trisquel for this, I am using Debian (even if I believe the services should be pretty much the same since Trisquel and Ubuntu come from Debian). I would like any help :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Removing services not needed - Need advice
AFAIK, the ssh demon should not be enabled by default anymore (https://trisquel.info/en/issues/11188). If that is still the case you might want to open a new issue ticket.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Sound problems with Trisquel 7
Thank you very much onetechbuddy and lembas but unfortunately neither reinstalling pulseaudio nor upgrading to Linux 3.15.8 (via the linux-libre package provided by jxself) helps. :-( Still, all I can hear is just some hissing coming out of my speakers. Any further suggestions?
[Trisquel-users] Removing services not needed - Need advice
Hello people, So, long story short, I have been messing around a little bit trying to remove unnecessary stuff in my GNU/Linux system, especially services that are able to connect/listen on internet ports. So far I have removed: OpenSSH - Never access my computer remotely, so why have a program running that might be used to attack my system and NEVER be used myself? FTP - Again, I never use FTP server in my home. Maybe I will do it one day, and if so I will reinstall it through reps, but I am sure my laptop doesn't need FTP services to be running in the background. Avahi - This would be cool if I was using other computers in home network, or wanted to use for example a wireless printer, but as it is, I have no use for this. Telnet - I am probably just ignorant here, but why would I want to have a program that allows remote access without the decency of encryption? So far I have removed these. I would like to ask what other services are not needed in a laptop that is not part of any complex network, only use it to connect to the internet and my phone (through the wifi at home, phone creating the ftpserver itself), AND might be used to connect to the internet? If I am not using it, it doesn't belong in my computer, and it shouldn't be there waiting for someone to bypass my firewall, and use an exploit in that program to own my system. Any help, much appreciated :) Thanks in advance!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
very nice dark theme in the new trisquel 7
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
It looks good, doesn't it? I like the dark theme for the application menu. Wallpaper is also very good.
Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
If you're talking about scrolling with a laptop's touchpad I've got 2 installations of Trisquel on mine, one with GNOME on Belenos and another with KDE on Toutatis (among others) and scrolling on the touchpad one way yield different results on the 2 (GNOME on Belenos being the smartphone-esque) and I'm still fine :) That's just me, though.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
That's not how you add it. You have to add it here. It's already there at http://h-node.org/notebooks/view/en/704/X54C. The video card is said not to work with 3d acceleration, but I have the same card in my desktop and it works, so change it if 3d acceleration works.

Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
It is better that people don't use Free software at all than choosing it because it is free of cost. I chose Trisquel not because it is free. I coul have easily got a pirated Windows on my PC so easily. They are out in plenty in countries like mine. I chose it because of the philosophy. *I once read RMS said in an interview - "There are several meanings for the word FREE in a dictionary and only one of them means of no cost".
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel Seven!!!
i have a insert on h-node :) hi gennaro
Re: [Trisquel-users] Sound problems with Trisquel 7
Hey Mzee, the thing to try then is a newer kernel on 7. The blue jack is probably for audio input.
Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
That day has unfortunately come. I don't have much programming knowledge so I spend a lot of time checking out artworks and themes. In the websites that host these works I have noticed people commenting - "The Apple design team is so perfect that most of the themes for Gnome and KDE are inspired from OS X." That is some OS X fan speaking but what worries me more is the number of "OPEN SOURCE" distros coming up that have customised DEs based on Gnome and KDE to prove they are close to OSX and Windows.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Sound problems with Trisquel 7
A few months ago, while I was using Ubuntu, I found that no sound came out of my speakers. I re-installed Pulse Audio and everything worked fine.
[Trisquel-users] Re : I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
That actually is common. For instance, I often read people that pretend that Firefox copies ideas Chrome when, most of the time, it is the opposite. Anyway, copying ideas is good. It is when you prevent that (software patents) that dramatic problems arise.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Sound problems with Trisquel 7
Hello lembas, Thank you very much for your fast reply. On Trisquel 6 I'm using Linux 3.15.8 and on Trisquel 7 I'm using 3.13.0. Btw: I put the cable in the green jack on my sound card. I also tried the blue one but that doesn't help either.
Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
Only fools don't use GNU/Linux. Without thinking about freedom and similar, Ubuntu (which I use on one computer, and used to use on both) is so much better in functionality than windows. And as for MacOS, I have never ever ever worked out how to use it. You scroll one way, and it goes the other way, and I could never get the menu on the bottem to work.

Re: [Trisquel-users] I've seen the apple conference of 2014 and I feel outraged.
>The big problem is that I am waiting for the day that people claim that the >Gnome team are copying Apple, that would just be a shame in terms of giving >credit where it is deserved. When that day arraives, we will know that stupidity will be terminal. By only seen the dates these innovatives ideas were implemented we can see that Apple are copying Gnome, KDE... and not vice versa. You know, it is common to see free as in freedom software to take inspiration from other projects, and when it happens you know what ocurrs? The answer is that it is also very common to see where the developer took inspiration from in the home page or in the "About" section of their projects.
