Because I am using GNOME Shell, the following may not work:

In the Top bar section of the Tweak tool (in System settings), you can
choose whether the date is displayed;
In Date time (in System settings), a radio button allows to choose
between 24 hours or AM/PM;
In the second tab of Language support (in System settings), you can
choose to display the date in the usual format for français (France) (for
instance).

[Trisquel-users] Re : Reset Monitor Settings

2014-11-19 Thread lcerf
Can you access a terminal by typing Ctrl+Alt+F1? If so, the problem is indeed
related to the X server. You can log in the terminal and take a look at the
Xorg's logs and spot the problem:

$ less /var/log/Xorg.0.log

If a X has a configuration file, you can remove it:
$ sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg/conf

Re: [Trisquel-users] Can't get 24-hour time in panel

2014-11-19 Thread lutheroto

Top bar: Both boxes are checked, and have no effect.
Date time: The radio button only effects that window, not the panel.
Language support: There's only one option: English. And unless there's some
language that would set the number/date/currency format to sensible
defaults instead of tying it down to a language, I don't see how this setting
would be useful.

there's /usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome-flashback.session
copy it, rename the new file to gnome-compiz.session, edit this file,
replace metacity with compiz.

also copy and rename the /usr/share/xsessions/trisquel-desktop.session
edit it and replace Exec=gnome-session --session=gnome-flashback

You might be right. That's not what I recall being told by one of the

From a quick skim and what I recall it seems like there is/was some confusion

Hi,

I left Trisquel. I had been constantly using Trisquel since version 5.0 as my
primary operating system but now I feel that it is not my type. My conclusion
was that users have no power and everything is done in background. Linux and
GNU have thought me that we should *develop together* not *use together*.
Anyway, I respect the governance of this distro, but abandoning it is the
best option for me.

Now I am enjoying Debian more than ever.

When I was looking for the eVY1 Shield[1], I noticed it has an EULA. The
shield is based on proprietery technologies where Yamaha holds software
patents. But there are other addons that one can use in freedom. One example
is the FSF endorsed RAMBo[2] circuit board. An you can design your own
Arduino Shield with Fritzing, which is free software. There is a service
called Fritzing Fab which produces professional PCBs out of ones Fritzing

The Compiz in T7 is a binary copy of the Ubuntu package and isn't on
the T7 install DVD, so upstream is in fact where you should report the
bug. Further AIUI adding your name to a bug on Launchpad improves its

Install libav-tools, use avconv instead of ffmpeg the program. Some

for 24 our format with date in International/Military format, should be:
Clock Format: %R

This will give you a 24 hour time format with the date listed as:
DayMonthYear(day of the week), example 19Nov2014(Wed).

Hope that helps1

I also have a Apple magic mouse laying around that I would like to use if I

Hi there!

Just try plugging in the mouse and see what happens. Regarding the touchpad,
have you checked out the configuration options in system settings?

There is also a user unfriendly but much more encompassing way to fiddle with
the various parameters. This involves opening 2 terminal windows.

In one of them read the manual page for the driverman synaptics

In the other first make backup of your old settingssynclient
~/original-touchpad-settings

(The tilde (~) means your home folder, i.e. /home/YOURUSERNAME/)

Then input synclient

This will list the value of some variables. You can find out what they mean
from the other window.

You can then change the values withsynclient variable=new value

If things go wonky, you can always check the file
~/original-touchpad-settings for the original values.
