If you decide to play this OpenBSD song
(http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html#43) on a FSF event I would say you are a
very, well, brave man. ;-)

Perhaps also this remix to appease the metalheads

Besides that there is some nice stuff on https://www.jamendo.com/ (all kind

I guess that depends on what kind of party it is. If it's for dancing then
you might not want the genres to change randomly, which they do on libre.fm,
but you can also download the songs from there directly and then only choose
those that you think are appropriate.

Playing OpenBSD songs sounds like a good idea. I like this one:

You think this music would be good for a party? I've really got utterly no
idea about music.

I'm not sure if any of the OpenBSD songs are particularly inappropriate
(either for a party, or political messages within, certainly don't want to
promote BSD's message at the 30th party for FSF) here or would be
good/acceptable :

Maybe you could try streaming from https://libre.fm. A lot of the songs there
are CC-BY-SA. I sometimes check the box "Only play me songs that other people
love".

2015-09-22 Thread chris
In addition to ThinkPenguin sponsoring the party I've volunteered to organize
the FSF 30th Ohio B'day party. One of the things I need for the party is a
playlist of songs. What would people suggest? I'm probably the worst person
to come up with a playlist given I don't listen to music. Period (I know it's
shocking- but there is 1 person on this planet who doesn't listen to music).

We'll certainly have to include these songs:

http://infinite-hands.draketo.de/musik/Infinite-Hands--free-software.ogg

http://www.gnu.org/music/free-software-song.en.html

But what else would people like to hear at the party? I think songs dealing
with software freedom, liberty, hacking, and the likes are probably ideal
candidates.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Excelent Write Up Of The FCC Story Saga

Josh Gay @ the FSF and a 4-5 others from the Save Wifi coalition participated
in a phone conference with the FCC the other day (I unfortunately missed it-
chalk that up to overwork in part to the radio shows and the like I've been
doing non-stop for two weeks, new employee training, conferences stuff (we're
sponsoring the FSF 30th party @ the Ohio [GNU]Linux Fest), and other stuff).
In it we got confirmation that the FCC *really does* want examples of how we
will be harmed/negatively impacted by the proposed rules. If nobody speaks up
it's a lot harder to blame them for taking away our freedoms. They've got a
particular goal which in and of itself is not at issue. It's the way those
rules will be interested and enforced by manufacturer that will cause the
problems.

It's a web server configuration issue. Look at the response, the content-type
header for both a working and a non-working link. You can use e.g. this tool

Right click - open with other application - make sure "use as default" is
checked and click on evince or whatever. Now all your pdfs will open with
that app you chose.

Right-click on the file in the file manager, go to the "Open With" tab, and
click on the button labeled "Reset". That will reset the association of .pdf
files to its default state. I don't have the problem you describe, so this
should fix it.

I wanted to view the following PDF file by using Abrowser:

Unfortunately, I only have the option to view this file with VLC instead of

on." is only shown grayed. Any ideas?

Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 7 on Toshiba NB200 - needs constant mouse movement

2015-09-22 Thread orbit22
Hi thanks, that is exactly what I did, and things did improve a bit but still
got some hangs, though less.

I have tried something that was put forward as a fix for the Toshiba NB300
and this seems to be a fix for the NB200 as well:

etc/default/grub

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nolapic_timer clocksource=jiffies"

sudo update-grub

and this seems to work perfectly now. I heard that this could lead to one
processor running at 100% all the time, but playing a video maximised I have
about 72% on each core. Memory use about 52% of 1gb. So all would seem to be
well.

By the way, not fully tested yet but it would seem the Atheros 9285 chipset
in the NB200 works with Trisquelwill report back on a separate post. Many
thanks

[Trisquel-users] Re : Trisquel 7 on Toshiba NB200 - needs constant mouse movement

2015-09-22 Thread lcerf

You would get:
GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash processor.max_cstate=1"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

And, yes, you need to execute 'sudo update-grub' after saving
/etc/default/grub.

Thanks for that very helpful, have tried to edit /etc/default/grub but must
be doing something wrong. Am trying to add

processor.max_cstate=1

to

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian`
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
am then running sudo update-grub
what should it look like?
